Alternative splicing of pre-mRNAs is a fundamental step in RNA processing required for gene expression in most metazoans. Serine and arginine-rich proteins (SR proteins) comprise a family of multifunctional proteins that contain an RNA recognition motif (RRM) and the ultra-conserved arginine/serine-rich (RS) domain, and play an important role in precise alternative splicing. Increasing research supports SR proteins as also functioning in other RNA-processing-related mechanisms, such as polyadenylation, degradation, and translation.

RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) refer to a class of proteins that participate in alternative splicing, RNA stability, polyadenylation, localization and translation of RNAs, thus regulating gene expression in post-transcriptional manner. Dysregulation of RNA-RBP interaction contributes to various diseases, including cancer. In breast cancer, disorders in RBP expression and function influence the biological characteristics of tumor cells.

Introduction: It is essential to protect cancer patients from contracting COVID-19 through vaccination. A majority of cancer patients are recommended by international health authorities to take up the vaccines. COVID-19 vaccine refusal among cancer patients during the pandemic period is under-researched.

Background: Recent studies have demonstrated a correlation between intestinal flora and the severity of myocardial infarction as well as post-myocardial infarction repair. However, few studies have investigated whether probiotics reduce mortality and improve cardiovascular outcomes in patients with acute myocardial infarction. In this study, we will conduct a randomized controlled trial (RCT) to evaluate the effect of probiotics on in-hospital mortality and the incidence of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI).

Transformer 2 alpha homolog (TRA2A), a member of the serine/arginine-rich splicing factor family, has been shown to control mRNA splicing in development and cancers. However, it remains unclear whether TRA2A is involved in lncRNA regulation. In the present study, we found that TRA2A was upregulated and correlated with poor prognosis in esophageal cancer.

The RNA binding protein (RBP) and non-coding RNA (ncRNA) interacting networks are increasingly recognized as the main mechanism in gene regulation, and are tightly associated with cellular malfunction and disease. Here, we present RNC, a systems biology tool to uncover the dynamic spectrum of RBP-ncRNA circuits (RNC) by integrating transcriptomics, interactomics and proteomics data. RNC constructs the RBP-ncRNA network derived from CLIP-seq or PARE experiments.

Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are endogenous non-coding RNAs that regulate gene expression and participate in carcinogenesis. However, the RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) involved in circRNAs biogenesis and modulation remain largely unclear. We developed the circRNA regulator identification tool (CRIT), a non-negative matrix-factorization-based pipeline to identify regulating RBPs in cancers.

Trastuzumab is a standard molecular targeted therapy for human epidermal growth factor receptor 2(HER2) -positive breast cancer, which can significantly improve the survival of patients with this molecular subtype of breast cancer. However, the clinical problem of onset or secondary resistance to trastuzumab has limited its efficacy. Therefore, it is very important to explore the mechanism of trastuzumab resistance and formulate countermeasures.

Radiotherapy is an indispensable modality in comprehensive treatment of breast cancer. However, inherent or acquired radiation resistance of tumors compromises the efficacy of radiotherapy. Herein, we found that CD146, a unique epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) inducer particularly highly expressed in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), is dramatically induced by ionizing irradiation.

Understanding common and distinct pathophysiological features between acute progressive ischemic stroke (APIS) and acute non-progressive ischemic stroke (ANPIS) is a prerequisite to making clear the mechanism to determine the prognosis of acute ischemic stroke (AIS). Here, we recruited three independent sets of subjects, all of which included the APIS, ANPIS, and control groups. They were used for serum proteomic and metabolomic analyses, and validation of the critical pathophysiological processes and potential biomarkers of APIS, respectively.

Uterine fibroids (UFs) are the most common benign gynecological tumor and greatly affect reproductive health in women of reproductive age. Some studies have indicated an association between UFs and several cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors. To determine whether UFs are associated with increased blood pressure, we performed a cross-sectional study and meta-analysis.

The interactions among non-coding RNA (ncRNA) and RNA binding protein (RBP) are increasingly recognized as one of basic mechanisms in gene regulation, and play a crucial role in cancer progressions. However, the current understanding of this regulation network, especially its dynamic spectrum according to the differentially expressed nodes ( ncRNAs and RBP) is limited. Utilizing transcriptomics and interactomics resources, dysregulated RBP-ncRNA circuits (RNCs) are systematically dissected across 14 tumor types.

The chemokine CXCL9 (C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 9) has been reported to be required for antitumour immune responses following immune checkpoint blockade. In this study, we sought to investigate the potential value of CXCL9 according to immune responses in patients with breast cancer (BC). A variety of open-source databases and online tools were used to explore the expression features and prognostic significance of CXCL9 in BC and its correlation with immune-related biomarkers followed by subsequent verification with immunohistochemistry experiments.

The RNA binding protein TRA2A, a member of the transformer 2 homolog family, plays a crucial role in the alternative splicing of pre-mRNA. However, it remains unclear whether TRA2A is involved in non-coding RNA regulation and, if so, what are the functional consequences. By analyzing expression profiling data, we found that TRA2A is highly expressed in esophageal cancer and is associated with disease-free survival and overall survival time.

Statins have anti-inflammatory and lipid-lowering effects, which suggest that statins may play an important role in the prevention and treatment of AAD. Some retrospective studies show that statins can protect patients with aortic dissection.
