The association between adhesion function and papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) is increasingly recognized; however, the precise role of adhesion function in the pathogenesis and prognosis of PTC remains unclear. In this study, we employed the robust rank aggregation algorithm to identify 64 stable adhesion-related differentially expressed genes (ARDGs). Subsequently, using univariate Cox regression analysis, we identified 16 prognostic ARDGs.

Osteochondral fractures of the lateral femoral condyle caused by lateral patella dislocation have been rarely reported. The AO/OTA Classification is not suitable for this uncommon injury. Comminution of the anterior cartilage surface of the lateral condyle with bone impaction is challenging to reduce and repair accurately, leading to uncertainty in joint function recovery.

Oxaliplatin has become a widely used agent in neoadjuvant chemotherapy for gastrointestinal tract tumors and is an integral part of the therapeutic approach for managing colorectal cancer recurrences and metastases, resulting in a more favorable prognosis for patients. Nevertheless, oxaliplatin can give rise to idiopathic non-cirrhotic portal hypertension (INCPH). The emergence of INCPH can disrupt tumor chemotherapy and incite persistent adverse reactions in later stages, significantly complicating clinical management.

Pyroptosis: shedding light on the mechanisms and links with cancers.

Front Immunol

November 2023

Inflammation and Immune Mediated Diseases Laboratory of Anhui Province, Anhui Institute of Innovative Drugs, School of Pharmacy, Anhui Medical University, Hefei, China.

Pyroptosis, a novel form of programmed cell death (PCD) discovered after apoptosis and necrosis, is characterized by cell swelling, cytomembrane perforation and lysis, chromatin DNA fragmentation, and the release of intracellular proinflammatory contents, such as Interleukin (IL) 8, IL-1β, ATP, IL-1α, and high mobility group box 1 (HMGB1). Our understanding of pyroptosis has increased over time with an increase in research on the subject: gasdermin-mediated lytic PCD usually, but not always, requires cleavage by caspases. Moreover, new evidence suggests that pyroptosis induction in tumor cells results in a strong inflammatory response and significant cancer regression, which has stimulated great interest among scientists for its potential application in clinical cancer therapy.

Background: Endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for early gastric cancer (EGC) does not always lead to curative resection. Risk factors of lymph node metastasis (LNM)/local cancer residue after non-curative ESD for EGC have not been fully elucidated. We therefore aimed to clarify them and evaluate whether the "eCura system" is reliable for the risk stratification of LNM after non-curative ESD.

Objective: To investigate the quality and efficacy of remote at-home rehabilitation for patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD) using personalized smart voice-based electronic prescription, and further explore the standardized health management mode of remote family cardiac rehabilitation. Trial design: A multicenter, randomized (1:1), non-blind, parallel controlled study.

Methods: A total of 171 patients with CVD who were admitted to 18 medical institutions in China from April 2021 to October 2022 were randomly divided into a treatment group (86 cases) and a control group (85 cases) in a non-blinded experiment, based on the sequence of enrollment.

Normal-weight visceral obesity promotes a higher 10-year atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease risk in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus-a multicenter study in China.

Cardiovasc Diabetol

Geriatric Medicine Center, Key Laboratory of Endocrine Gland Diseases of Zhejiang Province, Department of Endocrinology, Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital (Affiliated People's Hospital, Hangzhou Medical College), Hangzhou, 310014, Zhejiang, People's Republic of China.

Background: Visceral obesity is associated with high cardiovascular events risk in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Whether normal-weight visceral obesity will pose a higher atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) risk than body mass index (BMI)-defined overweight or obese counterparts with or without visceral obesity remains unclear. We aimed to explore the relationship between general obesity and visceral obesity and 10-year ASCVD risk in patients with T2DM.

Eye Center of the Second Affiliated Hospital, School of Medicine, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China.

Cytomegalovirus anterior uveitis is the most common ocular inflammatory disease caused by cytomegalovirus infection. It mainly occurs in middle-aged males with competent immunologic function, and the incidence is higher in Asia. The clinical manifestations vary from Posner-Schlossman syndrome and corneal endotheliitis to Fuchs uveitis syndrome, and are often accompanied by intraocular hypertension.

Innate and adaptive immune response in SARS-CoV-2 infection-Current perspectives.

Front Immunol

December 2022

Zhejiang Provincial Key Laboratory of Precision Diagnosis and Therapy for Major Gynecological Diseases, Women's Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, Hangzhou, China.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has been a global pandemic, caused by a novel coronavirus strain with strong infectivity, severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). With the in-depth research, the close relationship between COVID-19 and immune system has been dug out. During the infection, macrophages, dendritic cells, natural killer cells, CD8 T cells, Th1, Th17, Tfh cells and effector B cells are all involved in the anti-SARS-CoV-2 responses, however, the dysfunctional immune responses will ultimately lead to the excessive inflammation, acute lung injury, even other organ failure.

Ferroptosis: Shedding Light on Mechanisms and Therapeutic Opportunities in Liver Diseases.

Cells

October 2022

Inflammation and Immune Mediated Diseases Laboratory of Anhui Province, Anhui Institute of Innovative Drugs, School of Pharmacy, Anhui Medical University, Hefei 230000, China.

Cell death is a vital physiological or pathological phenomenon in the development process of the organism. Ferroptosis is a kind of newly-discovered regulated cell death (RCD), which is different from other RCD patterns, such as apoptosis, necrosis and autophagy at the morphological, biochemical and genetic levels. It is a kind of iron-dependent mode of death mediated by lipid peroxides and lipid reactive oxygen species aggregation.
