Exploring the value and optimizing strategies of CA125, CA199, CEA, AFP, and PT in predicting adenomatous gastrointestinal polyps in elderly male patients.

This study explores the application of serum biomarkers in the diagnosis of adenomatous polyps and evaluates the effectiveness of different markers and their combined diagnosis in adenomatous polyp detection. Using receiver operating characteristic curve analysis, this study assessed the efficacy of serum biomarkers such as carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA125), alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), carbohydrate antigen 199 (CA199), and prothrombin time (PT) in diagnosing adenomatous polyps in 90 patients. The study also compared the diagnostic accuracy of individual tests versus combined diagnostic approaches and analyzed the impact of polyp size and number on the levels of these markers.

Multi-omics and single cell characterization of cancer immunosenescence landscape.

Cellular senescence (CS) is closely related to tumor progression. However, the studies about CS genes across human cancers have not explored the relationship between cancer senescence signature and telomere length. Additionally, single-cell analyses have not revealed the evolutionary trends of malignant cells and immune cells at the CS level.

The Sensitization Differences of Pollen Allergen Components in Patients with Asthma and/or Rhinitis in Southern China.

Introduction: This study aim to analyzed the main pollen allergen components that cause allergic asthma and/or rhinitis and the cross-reactions between the allergen components.

Methods: Twenty one allergic rhinitis patients and 23 allergic asthma patients with pollen sensitization from the China Biological Information Repository of Respiratory Diseases were included. All the patients were detected serum pollen allergens components specific immunoglobulin E (sIgE) including Betula verrucosa (Bet v 1, Bet v 2, Bet v 4), Quercus alba (Pla a 1, Pla a 2), Ambrosia elatior (Amb a 1), Artemisia vulgaris (Art v 1, Art v 3, Art v 4), Bermuda grass (Cyn d 1, Cyn d 12), Phleum pratense (Phl p 5, Phl p 1, Phl p 4, Phl p 7, Phl p 12), and cross-reactive carbohydrate determinants.

Endovascular therapy beyond 24 hours for anterior circulation large vessel occlusion or stenosis in acute ischemic stroke: a retrospective study.

Background: To assess the clinical and safety outcomes of endovascular treatment (EVT) administered more than 24 h after the onset of symptoms in patients with acute ischemic stroke resulting from anterior circulation large-vessel occlusion or stenosis (AIS-ACLVO/S).

Methods: We enrolled consecutive AIS-ACLVO/S patients who received EVT in our hospital between January 2019 and February 2022 and divided them into two groups based on the time from AIS onset to EVT: EVT < 24 h group and EVT >24 h group. The successful reperfusion (modified thrombolysis in cerebral infarction, [mTICI] ≥2b), 90-day modified Rankin Scale score (mRS), intracranial hemorrhage (ICH), and symptomatic ICH (sICH), as well as mortality, were analyzed in the two groups of patients.

KLK10 promotes the progression of KRAS mutant colorectal cancer via PAR1-PDK1-AKT signaling pathway.

Kirsten rat sarcoma virus (KRAS) gene mutation is common in colorectal cancer (CRC) and is often predictive of treatment failure and poor prognosis. To understand the mechanism, we compared the transcriptome of CRC patients with wild-type and mutant KRAS and found that KRAS mutation is associated with the overexpression of a secreted serine protease, kallikrein-related peptidase 10 (KLK10). Moreover, using in vitro and in vivo models, we found that KLK10 overexpression favors the rapid growth and liver metastasis of KRAS mutant CRC and can also impair the efficacy of KRAS inhibitors, leading to drug resistance and poor survival.

Objective: This study was designed to explore the clinical value of high-quality nursing in patients with emergency trauma undergoing surgical debridement and suture and its effects on pain relief.

Methods: The clinical data of 181 patients with emergency trauma who received surgical debridement and suture in Shangrao Municipal Hospital from January 2020 to December 2021 were analyzed retrospectively. Among them, patients who received routine nursing were assigned to a control group (n=85), and those who received high-quality nursing were assigned to an observation group (n=96).

Objective: This study aimed to compare the pre- and post-operative vestibular and equilibrium functions of patients with cholesteatoma-induced labyrinthine fistulas who underwent different management methods.

Methods: Data from 49 patients with cholesteatoma-induced labyrinthine fistulas who underwent one of three surgical procedures were retrospectively analysed. The three management options were fistula repair, obliteration and canal occlusion.

Fascin (FSCN) is an actin-binding protein that serves a critical role in cell migration and invasion, contributing to tumor metastasis. However, there is little known about the function of family in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC). The present study used the UALCAN, gene expression profiling interactive analysis, The Cancer Genome Atlas, cBioPortal, STRING and The Tumor Immune Estimation Resource databases to investigate the transcription level, genetic alteration and biological function of FSCNs in KIRC and their association with the prognosis value and immune cell infiltration in patients with KIRC.

Cancer-directed surgery brings survival benefits for patients with advanced prostate cancer: a population-based propensity-score matching study.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the survival benefits of cancer-directed surgery (CDS) for localized prostate cancer (PCa) as well as advanced PCa. We retrospectively used the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database and conducted a propensity score matching (PSM) study to investigate survival benefits and influencing factors of CDS in patients with PCa, especially for those with advanced PCa. 19,729 cases were included.

Background: Metastatic bladder cancer (MBC) is an incurable malignancy, which is prone to early death. We aimed to establish models to evaluating the risk of early death in patients with metastatic bladder cancer.

Methods: The data of 1,264 patients with MBC registered from 2010 to 2015 were obtained from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database.

The national Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database (SEER) (2004-2015) were used to obtain patients diagnosed with T1 high-grade bladder cancer, and finally, 25263 patients were enrolled in our study.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging combined with Computed Tomography in the Diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma and the Killing Effect of Doxorubicin Nano-drug Delivery System on Myeloma Cells.

It was to adopt magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) combined with computed tomography (CT) to diagnose multiple myeloma (MM) and evaluate the therapeutic effect of the doxorubicin nano-drug delivery system on MM, providing a more effective method for the treatment of MM. For this aim, eighty-eight patients with MM admitted to our Hospital from June 2019 to July 2020.7 were selected as study subjects and divided into a control group (treated with doxorubicin) and an observation group (treated with doxorubicin-loaded nanoparticles) according to the random number table, 44 cases for each group.

Prognostic significance of long noncoding RNA HOTAIR in hepatocellular carcinoma: A protocol for systematic review and meta-analysis.

Background: Homeobox transcript antisense intergenic RNA (HOTAIR), a long noncoding RNA, has been reported to associate with the prognosis of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in several studies, however, the definite conclusion has not been obtained for conflicting results across different studies. The aim of this study is to determine the association of HOTAIR expression with overall survival, progression-free survival, and clinical features in HCC.

We constructed a rat HIRI model and treated it with an intraperitoneal injection of agomir-miR-34a-5p or agomir-normal control (NC) for 7 days after the surgery. The pathological changes of agomir-miR-34a-5p or agomir-normal control (NC) groups were compared.

Instant diagnosis of gastroscopic biopsy via deep-learned single-shot femtosecond stimulated Raman histology.

Gastroscopic biopsy provides the only effective method for gastric cancer diagnosis, but the gold standard histopathology is time-consuming and incompatible with gastroscopy. Conventional stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) microscopy has shown promise in label-free diagnosis on human tissues, yet it requires the tuning of picosecond lasers to achieve chemical specificity at the cost of time and complexity. Here, we demonstrate that single-shot femtosecond SRS (femto-SRS) reaches the maximum speed and sensitivity with preserved chemical resolution by integrating with U-Net.

MIR4435-2HG, miR-125b-5p, and Sema4D axis affects the aggressiveness of colorectal cancer cells.

Introduction: The purpose of this study is to elucidate the impact of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) MIR4435-2HG/microRNA (miR)-125b-5p/ Semaphorins 4D (Sema4D) on colorectal cancer (CRC) cell propagation and migration.

Material And Methods: Sema4D expression in 73 pairs of CRC tissues and matched adjacent normal tissues was measured by qRT-PCR and western blot and its association with pathological characteristics of CRC patients was analyzed by chi-square test. Also, the expression of MIR4435-2HG, miR-125b-5p and Sema4D in CRC cell lines was detected by qRT-PCR and Western blot.

Bioinformatic Analysis of the Expression and Clinical Significance of the DNA Replication Regulator MCM Complex in Bladder Cancer.

Objective: The minichromosome maintenance (MCM) complex (MCM2, MCM3, MCM4, MCM5, MCM6, and MCM7), which regulates DNA replication and cell cycle progression, is essential for the development and progression of multiple tumors, but their role in bladder cancer development remains unclear. In the present study, the biological role and clinical significance of the MCM complex in bladder cancer were systematically elucidated.

Materials And Methods: We analyzed DNA mutations, mRNA expression and protein levels, protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks, functional enrichment, prognostic value of MCM2/3/4/5/6/7 in bladder urothelial carcinoma (BLC) and the connections between the immune cell infiltration and the overall survival of BLC patients with the MCM expression levels using Oncomine, Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis (GEPIA), the Cancer Genome Atlas database (TCGA), Human Protein Atlas, UALCAN, STRING, cBioPortal, TIMER and GSCALite databases.
