The aim of this study was to investigate the potential mechanism of Lu-Jiao Fang (LJF) inhibiting endothelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EndMT) in pressure overload-induced cardiac fibrosis. Pharmacokinetic behaviors of the ingredients of LJF were evaluated by LC-MS/MS analysis. Then putative pathways by which LJF regulates EndMT were analyzed by network pharmacology and verified in transverse aortic constriction-induced cardiac fibrosis rats.

Background: The increasing prevalence of myopia among Chinese children and adolescents, especially at younger ages, has emerged as a significant concern in recent years. Pre-myopia is a key period for myopia prevention and control in children and adolescents. Previous studies suggested auricular acupressure (AA) therapy might offer a viable approach to prevent and slow down myopia progression.

Background: Neutrophils are the most abundant leukocytes in human blood, and their recruitment is essential for innate immunity and inflammatory responses. The initial and critical step of neutrophil recruitment is their adhesion to vascular endothelium, which depends on G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) triggered integrin inside-out signaling that induces β2 integrin activation and clustering on neutrophils. Kindlin-3 and talin-1 are essential regulators for the inside-out signaling induced β2 integrin activation.

In this study, we developed a colloidal gold immunochromatographic strip (CGIS) method that used the matrix-matched calibration curves of contamination ratio models to quantitatively determine the total aflatoxin in five herbal medicines. This approach addresses issues related to false results and poor accuracy associated with conventional methods. The CGIS was analyzed using a Vertu touch reader, and the matrix-matched calibration was established based on the absorbance ratios of the T and C lines, as well as the logarithmic values of the total aflatoxin concentrations.

Antibiotic resistance has become a critical health crisis globally. Traditional strategies using antibiotics can lead to drug-resistance, while inorganic antimicrobial agents can cause severe systemic toxicity. Here, we have developed a dual-antibiotic hydrogel delivery system (PDA-Ag@Levo/CMCS), which can achieve controlled release of clinical antibiotics levofloxacin (Levo) and classic nanoscale antibiotic silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), effectively eliminating drug-resistant .

The rarity and heterogeneity of liposarcomas (LPS) pose significant challenges in their diagnosis and management. In this work, a series of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) engineering is designed and implemented. Through comprehensive characterization and performance evaluations, such as stability, thermal-driven desorption efficiency, as well as energy- and charge-transfer capacity, the engineering of group IV bimetallic MOFs emerges as particularly noteworthy.

Purpose: This trial aimed to investigate the efficacy of Migu capsules in treating osteoporotic low back pain.
Patients And Methods: In this single-center trial, we randomly assigned patients with osteoporotic low back pain that had lasted for 3 months in a 1:1 ratio to receive Migu capsules alongside Caltrate D in treatment group or to receive Caltrate D only in control group, both for 48 weeks. The primary outcome measure was the intensity of low back pain on a visual analog scale at 24 weeks after enrollment.

Cancer-associated cachexia (CAC) is a severe metabolic disorder syndrome mainly characterized by muscle and fat loss, which accounts for one-third of cancer-related deaths. No effective therapeutic approach that could fully reverse CAC is available. NF-κB signaling and oxidative stress play vital roles in both muscle atrophy and fat loss in CAC.

Background: Acute variceal bleeding (AVB), a life-threatening complication of liver cirrhosis, can be effectively treated by endoscopy, but there is a risk of early rebleeding after endoscopic variceal treatment (EVT). Thrombocytopenia is the most common hemostatic abnormality in liver cirrhosis. However, it is still unclear about whether thrombocytopenia increases the failure of EVT in cirrhotic patients with AVB.

Objectives: To deeply explore the mechanism of pachymic acid (PA) intervention in myocardial ischemia, providing new ideas and methods for the treatment of myocardial ischemia.
Methods: Predict the targets of PA for improving myocardial ischemia, and conduct functional enrichment analysis using databases, such as Gene Ontology, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes, and Reactome. To verify these findings, PPI network topology analysis and molecular docking were used to screen key targets and main mechanisms of action and further validated through in vitro experiments on the H9C2 cell line.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is widely used in China for disease treatment and has become a valuable resource for drug development due to its high efficacy and low risk of side-effects. However, growing toxicity reports has garnered significant global attention. A major challenge in addressing TCM-induced toxicity is lack of specific and sensitive biomarkers for diagnosing and predicting its toxicity.

Dihydrotanshinone I (DHT) is an active ingredient derived from Salvia miltiorrhiza. Previous studies have demonstrated that DHT can improve cardiac function in rats with myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury (IR). However, the mechanism by which DHT improves myocardial injury in rats still requires further research.

Skeletal muscle dysfunction (SMD), one of the extrapulmonary complications in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), considerably influences patient prognosis. Mitochondria regulates their dynamic networks through a mitochondria quality control (MQC) mechanism, involving mitochondrial biogenesis, mitochondrial dynamics, and mitophagy. The MQC is crucial for mitochondrial homeostasis and health, and disruption of it can lead to mitochondrial damage, which is a key factor in the structural and functional impairment of skeletal muscle in COPD.

Background: There is a paucity of research examining the Triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and Neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) in relation to the onset and severity of coronary heart disease (CHD) in individuals with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). This study aims to explore the relationship between these biomarkers and the risk of CHD in T2DM patients and clarify their association with the CHD severity.
Methods: A total of 518 patients with T2DM who underwent coronary angiography (CAG) were included and categorized into either the T2DM group or the T2DM combined with CHD group based on the angiographic findings.

With the ongoing rise in the incidence of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), its extraintestinal manifestations have garnered significant attention. IBD-related arthritis is notable for its insidious onset and unpredictability, presenting considerable challenges for clinical diagnosis and management. Factors such as gut microbiota, plasma proteins, inflammatory proteins, and biomarkers found in blood and urine may be closely associated with IBD-related arthritis.
