Previous studies have demonstrated that music has a positive effect on individuals during exercise and sports. We speculate that one of the mechanisms for this positive effect may be that music reduces the consumption of self-regulation strength. The primary objective of this study was to use a self-regulation strength model to explain the impact of music on individuals during aerobic exercises.

Shanghai Diabetes Institute, Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Shanghai Key Laboratory of Diabetes Mellitus, Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Shanghai 200233, China. Electronic address:

Copper deficiency has emerged to be associated with various lipid metabolism diseases, including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). However, the mechanisms that dictate the association between copper deficiency and metabolic diseases remain obscure. Here, we reveal that copper restoration caused by hepatic ceruloplasmin (Cp) ablation enhances lipid catabolism by promoting the assembly of copper-load SCO1-LKB1-AMPK complex.

This paper proposes an innovative methodology for finding how many lifting techniques people with chronic low back pain (CLBP) can demonstrate with camera data collected from 115 participants. The system employs a feature extraction algorithm to calculate the knee, trunk and hip range of motion in the sagittal plane, Ward’s method, a combination of K-means and Ensemble clustering method for classification algorithm, and Bayesian neural network to validate the result of Ward’s method and the combination of K-means and Ensemble clustering method. The classification results and effect size show that Ward clustering is the optimal method where precision and recall percentages of all clusters are above 90, and the overall accuracy of the Bayesian Neural Network is 97.

Obesity (Silver Spring)

March 2022

Shanghai Diabetes Institute, Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Shanghai Jiao Tong University Affiliated Sixth People's Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Shanghai, China.

Objective: Receptor-interacting serine/threonine-protein kinase 1 (RIP1) is a well-documented key regulator of TNFα-mediated inflammation, apoptosis, and necroptosis, which contribute to the development of obesity-related metabolic diseases such as nonalcoholic steatohepatitis. However, the mechanism regarding how RIP1 influences obesity-related insulin resistance remains elusive.

Methods: Primary hepatocytes with necrostatin 1 treatment or RIP1 expression were exposed to palmitic acid (PA), prior to the examination of cellular insulin signaling.

Shanghai Diabetes Institute, Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism, Shanghai Jiao Tong University Affiliated Sixth People's Hospital, Shanghai 200233, China. Electronic address:

Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), an inflammatory subtype of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, is featured by significantly elevated levels of various proinflammatory cytokines. Among numerous proinflammatory factors that contribute to NASH pathogenesis, the secreted protein, tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), plays an essential role in multiple facets of NASH progression and is therefore considered as a potential therapeutic target. In this review, we will first systematically describe the preclinical studies on the biochemical function of TNF-α and its intracellular downstream signaling mechanisms through its receptors.

Moderate endurance training reduced hepatic tumourigenesis associated with lower lactate overload compared to high-intensity interval training.

Clin Exp Pharmacol Physiol

September 2021

Key Laboratory of Adolescent Health Assessment and Exercise Intervention of Ministry of Education, East China Normal University, Shanghai, China.

Unlabelled: The anti-tumour effects of exercise are still poorly understood. In recent years, high-intensity interval exercise has been recognised as one of the best choices for better health. However, high-intensity interval exercise induces lactate production in muscles and elevates blood lactic acid levels, and the resulting acidic microenvironment may promote tumour progression.

Recent study has demonstrated that high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT) have the same effect to alleviate β-amyloid pathology in the hippocampus of APPswe/PS1dE9 (APP/PS1) mice. Activation of nucleotide binding and oligomerization domain-like receptor family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome is pivotal and has been demonstrated to accelerate β-amyloid accumulation. The present study aimed to examine whether the exercise-induced β-amyloid reduction was associated with changes in NLRP3 inflammasome activation.
