Polyphenols, known for their potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, have emerged as promising, natural, and safe complementary treatment options for metabolic-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). Among these, curcumin, resveratrol, and silymarin are the most extensively studied; however, their differential effects on MASLD outcomes remain inconclusive. This systematic review and meta-analysis of RCTs aimed to evaluate the efficacy of curcumin, resveratrol, and silymarin in patients with MASLD.

Thousand and one amino-acid protein kinases(TAOKs), as a key member of the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) cascade, has recently attracted widespread attention in the field of anti-cancer research. There are three members of this subfamily: TAOK1, TAOK2, and TAOK3. Studies have shown that members of the TAOK family participate in regulating cell proliferation, apoptosis, migration, and invasion through various pathways, thereby playing an important role in tumorigenesis and progression.

Background: Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), an escalating global health concern, is a primary factor behind cirrhosis, liver transplantation, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Effective treatments remain elusive. Danggui-Shaoyao-San (DGSY), a classic famous prescription employed in treating NASH, could hold promise, although its molecular underpinnings are still under investigation.

Background: This study aims to assess the efficacy and safety of Endostar in the management of locally advanced cervical cancer.
Methods: This retrospective, 2-center study enrolled 41 patients with locally advanced cervical cancer between June 2017 and December 2020. The patients were subjected to a combination of Endostar and chemoradiotherapy until they experienced disease progression or an unacceptable level of toxicity.

The interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase (IRAK) family is a group of serine-threonine kinases that regulates various cellular processes via toll-like receptor (TLR)/interleukin-1 receptor (IL1R)-mediated signaling. The IRAK family comprises four members, including IRAK1, IRAK2, IRAK3, and IRAK4, which play an important role in the expression of various inflammatory genes, thereby contributing to the inflammatory response. IRAKs are key proteins in chronic and acute liver diseases, and recent evidence has implicated IRAK family proteins (IRAK1, IRAK3, and IRAK4) in the progression of liver-related disorders, including alcoholic liver disease, non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, hepatitis virus infection, acute liver failure, liver ischemia-reperfusion injury, and hepatocellular carcinoma.

Radiation pneumonia is a common adverse reaction during radiotherapy in lung cancer patients, which negatively impacts the quality of life and survival of patients. Recent studies have shown that compound Kushen injection (CKI), a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), has great anti-inflammatory and anticancer potential, but the mechanism is still unclear. We used CiteSpace, the R package "bibliometrix," and VOSviewers to perform a bibliometrics analysis of 162 articles included from the Web of Science core collection.

Studies show that inflammation induced by cancer is a key factor in carcinogenesis. Here, we sought to assess the relationship between patients with locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC) and the lymphocyte to neutrophil granulocyte ratio (LGR) prior to neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT) and distant metastasis-free survival (DMFS). Using a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis of 326 LARC patients who underwent total mesorectal excision (TME) surgery and neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy, we were able to determine the ideal LGR cutoff value.

Cholestasis is characterized by impaired bile secretion and flow, leading to the accumulation of toxic bile acids in the liver, further causing inflammatory reaction, fibrosis, and ultimately liver transplantation. Although first-line clinical agents such as Ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) and Obeticholic acid (OCA) are available, serious side effects still exist. Therefore, pharmacologic treatment of cholestatic liver disease remains challenging.

Background: Advanced lung cancer that contributes to a heavy burden on medical institutions is the leading cause of cancer-related death and is often accompanied by metabolic disorders. In this study, we aimed to explore the biomarkers of diagnosis and radiotherapy response in non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients by plasma lipidomics analysis.
Method: Using triple-quadrupole mass spectrometer analysis, our research characterized the plasma lipid metabolomics profile of 25 healthy controls and 31 advanced NSCLC patients in each of three different radiotherapy phases.

Background: Asthma is a chronic respiratory disease affecting millions of people worldwide, but early detection can be challenging due to the time-consuming nature of the traditional technique. Machine learning has shown great potential in the prompt prediction of asthma. However, because of the inherent complexity of asthma-related patterns, current models often fail to capture the correlation between data samples, limiting their accuracy.

Ubiquitin specific protease 5 (USP5) is a vital deubiquitinating enzyme that regulates various physiological functions by removing ubiquitin chains from target proteins. This review provides an overview of the structural and functional characteristics of USP5. Additionally, we discuss the role of USP5 in regulating diverse cellular processes, including cell proliferation, apoptosis, DNA double-strand damage, methylation, heat stress, and protein quality control, by targeting different substrates.
