Objectives: This cross-sectional study aimed to explore the knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) of patients with rotator cuff tears towards arthroscopic shoulder surgery (ASS), based on the hypothesis that the knowledge of the procedure among patients would be sufficient, which in turn might influence their practice and attitude.

Design: Cross-sectional study.

Setting: Patients were recruited from Tong Ren Hospital between September and October 2022.

Breast cancer is a common malignant tumor, which mostly occurs in female population and is caused by excessive proliferation of breast epithelial cells. Breast cancer can cause nipple discharge, breast lumps and other symptoms, but these symptoms lack certain specificity and are easily confused with other diseases, thus affecting the early treatment of the disease. Once the tumor progresses to the advanced stage, distant metastasis can occur, leading to dysfunction of the affected organs, and even threatening the patients' lives.

Objective: To investigate the role of exosomal miRNAs from synovial fluid (SF) in osteoarthritis (OA) patients and investigate the underlying molecular mechanism.

Methods: Degenerated knee tissues were collected from male and female OA patients. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect the differences in the expression of inflammatory indicators, including TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-10, between the degenerative and injury groups.

Objective: To investigate the clinical effect of percutaneous pedicle screw fixation(PPSF) combined with percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) in the treatment of Genant Ⅲ degree osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs).

Methods: The hospitalized 83 patients with Genant Ⅲ degree OVCFs treated by PPSF combined with PVP from June 2015 to June 2017 were retrospectively analyzed, and 83 patients treated by PVP alone from January 2013 to June 2016 were randomly selected as the control group. There were 19 males and 64 females with an average age of (73.

Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is an important factor leading to end-stage kidney disease that affects diabetes mellitus patients globally. Our previous transcriptome sequencing has identified a large group of differentially expressed long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) in early development of DN. On basis of this, we aimed to investigate the function of lncRNA NONHSAG053901 in DN pathogenesis.

Background: Although cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) has been known with a theoretical basis for tinnitus patients, there still were lack of clinical evidence.

Objective: To evaluate the clinical efficacy of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for treatment of chronic subjective tinnitus.

Methods: One hundred patients with chronic subjective tinnitus patients were randomly divided into control (50 cases) and intervention (50 cases) groups, which received the masking therapy and sound treatment and masking therapy and sound treatment plus CBT.

The present study aimed to investigate the effect of pentraxin 3 (PTX3) on the regulation of proliferation and apoptosis in human glomerular mesangial cells (HMCs). Small interfering (si)RNA was designed and synthesized to inhibit the expression of endogenous PTX3, and the effects on the proliferation and apoptosis of HMCs were detected by flow cytometry and an MTT assay. Western blot analysis was used to detect the activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) proteins in HMCs with PTX3 knockdown.

We compared four repair techniques for impaired ankle ligament deltoideum, namely Wiltberger, Deland, Kitaoka and Hintermann using a 3-dimensional finite element. We built an ankle ligament deltoideum model, including six pieces of bone structures, gristles and main ligaments around the ankle. After testing the model, we built an impaired ligament deltoideum model plus four reconstruction models.

Purpose: To investigate the effects of asymmetric dimethyl-arginine (ADMA), adiponectin (APN) and apelin in predicting macroangiopathy in impaired glucose regulation (IGR) patients.

Methods: A total of 210 patients undergoing oral glucose tolerance test were included in this study. They were classified to normal glucose tolerance (NGT, n=42), impaired fasting glucose (IFG, n=36), impaired glucose tolerance (IGT, n=92, including 44 IGT1 and 48 IGT2 patients) and IFG+IGT (n=40) groups.

Pancreatic cancer is a devastating disease with proclivity for early metastasis, which accounts for its poor prognosis. The clinical problem of pancreatic cancer is its resistance to conventional therapies, such as chemotherapy or radiation. Based upon these challenges, the focus of research on pancreatic cancer has shifted gradually towards the tumor microenvironment.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the correlation between clinical behavior and expression of human papillomavirus (HPV) in patients with juvenile laryngeal papillomatosis, in an attempt to develop an effective molecular biological method to predict prognosis. We included 37 patients with juvenile laryngeal papillomatosis in the study group and 10 cases each of juvenile vocal cord polyps and juvenile normal laryngeal mucosa as the control group. We detected HPV by immunocytochemistry and in situ hybridization, identified the virus type, and measured HPV-DNA content using a computer-assisted, color pathological image-analysis system.

We aimed to investigate the role of Notch1/Hes signaling pathway in the pathogenesis of abnormal ossification of hip ligament in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS). 22 AS patients scheduled for artificial hip arthroplasty were randomly chosen as AS group. As controls, we used 4 patients diagnosed with transcervical fracture who underwent hip replacement surgery.

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is caused by primary and secondary injury mechanisms. TBI induces a certain amount of inflammatory responses and glutamate excitotoxicity that are believed to participate in the pathogenesis of secondary injury. The non‑narcotic anti‑tussive drug dextromethorphan (DM) has been reported to have a high safety profile in humans and its neuroprotective against a variety of disorders, including cerebral ischemia, epilepsy and acute brain injury.

Colorectal Cancer (CRC) is one of the most common malignant tumors of gastrointestinal tract. The occurrence, development, diagnosis and prognosis have become a hot topic in current clinical research. However, current diagnosis and treatment still depend on the results of tumor imaging or pathology test.

Pancreatic cancer (PC) is an aggressive malignancy with a high mortality rate and poor prognosis. Numerous investigations have shown that microRNA (miRNA) plays a vital role in PC. Thousands of miRNAs have been screened in PC and altered miRNAs, including circulating miRNAs, are associated with PC proliferation, apoptosis, metastasis, chemosensitivity, and radiosensitivity.

Background And Aims: Miliary tuberculosis is a form of tuberculosis that is characterized by a wide dissemination into lung fields. So far, no report has shown a miliary tuberculosis case where diffuse miliary nodules can be observed in airways by bronchoscopy. Here we reported a case of military tuberculosis that can easily be misdiagnosed as sarcoidosis.

The present study was designed to evaluate the role of growth differentiation factor-5 (GDF-5) and bone morphogenetic protein type II receptor (BMPR-II) in the development of lumbar intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD). A total of 24 patients with lumbar IDD (experiment group) and 6 patients with lumbar vertebral fracture (control group) were enrolled in the study. Tissue samples of IVD from the experiment group and control group were obtained during lumbar fusion operation, respectively.
