The Association Between Circulating Sex Hormones and Central Serous Chorioretinopathy: A Case-Control Study.

Background: Central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) is preferential cocurated in males, however the associations between sex hormones and CSC incidence or progression remains unclear. The sex hormone concentration assessments in CSC cases and healthy controls will update the knowledge in CSC management.

Methods: This case-control study included 59 CSC cases and 30 healthy controls, from January 2019 to December 2020.

Background Context: Metastatic spinal cord compression (MSCC) seriously affects the survival rate.

Objective: The therapeutic effects of two treatment strategies for MSCC: percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) combined with radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and PVP combined with I particle implantation, were compared.

Study Design: Retrospective study.

Intraocular Suture Looping Technique for Flapless Four-Point Refixation of Dislocated Intraocular Lenses.

Purpose: To describe a flapless/grooveless technique for four-point refixation of a dislocated intraocular lens (IOL) with four fenestrated haptics.

Methods: An intraocular suture looping technique was performed with the assistance of two 27-gauge needles. A looping needle was passed into the eye through paracentesis and was used to loop both fenestrated haptics on the same side with an 8-0 polypropylene thread.

Intrascleral Suture Anchoring: A Flapless/Grooveless Four-Point Intraocular Lens Fixation Technique.

Purpose: We describe a minimally invasive suture fixation technique for four-point fixation of intraocular lenses (IOLs) in the treatment of aphakic eyes, namely, the intrascleral suture anchoring technique. Neither scleral flaps nor large conjunctival dissections are required.

Methods: This study included 11 eyes (11 patients).

Intrascleral Fixation of Flanged Polypropylene Suture(s) for Iridodialysis Repair.

Purpose: We will describe a minimally invasive technique for the repair of iridodialysis, without conjunctival dissections, using intrasceral fixation of a 6-0 polypropylene suture with a flanged tip.

Methods: A flange was created at the end of the suture with thermoplasticity. An ab interno passing of the needle attached to the suture was performed through the peripheral part of the iris and was further passed out from the eye 1.

Diagonal haptic capture of a plate intraocular lens with 4 haptics.

A technique of diagonal haptic capture of a plate intraocular lens (IOL) with 4 haptics for cases with insufficient posterior capsular support is presented. The diagonal haptics were captured through the capsulorhexis by sequentially depressing each side of the haptic beneath the rim of the capsulorhexis with a gentle pressure. The IOL is fixated by pure IOL-capsule capture without sulcus fixation of haptics.

Pseudoduplication of the optic disc initially resembling a bifurcated optic nerve in a strabismus child: a case report.

Background: Pseudoduplication of the optic disc is a rare clinical condition that is characterized by a circumscribed, disc-like lesion with radiating vessels but only one normal optic nerve. We report a rare case that initially resembled a bifurcated optic nerve in a strabismus child.

Case Presentation: A 6-year-old female child was initially referred to our hospital due to perceptual exotropia of 15 degrees with poor fixation of the left eye.

Intrascleral sewing-machine technique: A Grooveless/flapless cyclopexy technique for large traumatic Cyclodialysis cleft repairs in pars plana vitrectomy.

Purpose: To describe a minimally invasive technique for the repair of large traumatic cyclodialysis clefts using intrascleral sewing machine suture and overhand friction knot techniques in pars plana vitrectomy.

Methods: This prospective, noncomparative, interventional case series included seven eyes of seven patients with a large traumatic cyclodialysis cleft. The sewing machine technique was modified by an intrascleral approach.

Effects of Left Gastric Artery Ligation Versus Sleeve Gastrectomy on Obesity-Induced Adipose Tissue Macrophage Infiltration and Inflammation in Diet-Induced Obese Rats.

BACKGROUND Bariatric procedures such as left gastric artery ligation (LGAL) and sleeve gastrectomy (SG) have emerged as important procedures for treating morbid obesity. In this study, we compared the effects of LGAL vs. SG on obesity-induced adipose tissue macrophage infiltration and inflammation in diet-induced obese rats.

Purpose: To prospectively evaluate 5α-reductase inhibitors (5αRIs) for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) patients with a large prostate (>80 mL) after transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP).

Materials And Methods: Eighty-seven patients were recruited from January 2007 to October 2014. Patients were randomized into a trial and a control group.

PPP1R12A Copy Number Is Associated with Clinical Outcomes of Stage III CRC Receiving Oxaliplatin-Based Chemotherapy.

Aim: To investigate the correlation between PPP1R12A gene copy number and clinical outcomes of oxaliplatin-based regimen in stage III colorectal cancer (CRC).

Methods: A total of 139 paraffin-embedded tissue samples of stage III CRC patients who received oxaliplatin-based treatment after radical surgery were recruited. Genomic DNA was extracted and purified from paraffin-embedded sections.

High-throughput RNAi screening of human kinases identifies predictors of clinical outcome in colorectal cancer patients treated with oxaliplatin.

The purpose of this study is to identify protein kinase genes that modulate oxaliplatin cytotoxicity in vitro and evaluate the roles of these genes in predicting clinical outcomes in CRC patients receiving oxaliplatin-based adjuvant chemotherapy. A high-throughput RNAi screening targeting 626 human kinase genes was performed to identify kinase genes whose inhibition potentiates oxaliplatin sensitivity in CRC cells. The associations between copy numbers of the candidate genes and recurrence-free survival and overall survival were analyzed in 142 stage III CRC patients receiving first-line oxaliplatin-based adjuvant chemotherapy who were enrolled from two independent hospitals.

Purpose: To investigate whether the copy number of PIK3C2G is associated with clinical outcomes for stage III colorectal cancer (CRC) patients treated with oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy.

Methods: A total of 142 CRC patients who received first-line oxaliplatin-based chemotherapy after curative surgery in Ruijin Hospital and The Tenth People's Hospital were recruited in this study. Patients were enrolled between June 2006 and December 2011, with follow-up to January 2014.
