Gastric cancer is one of the most common malignancies with poor prognosis. The use of organoids to simulate gastric cancer has rapidly developed over the past several years. Patient-derived gastric cancer organoids serve as in vitro models that closely mimics donor characteristics, offering new opportunities for both basic and applied research.

Soft actuators are limited by single-mode driving technology, which poses challenges in dealing with complex and multidimensional movements. In this study, a multiresponsive soft actuator was fabricated by integrating a microwrinkling structure into an MXene-based film, enabling programmable motions. To achieve this, we introduced -hexane into the film preparation process and utilized its rapid volatilization to accelerate the shrinkage difference between the film and the substrate.

The active site density, intrinsic activity, and supporting substrate of cobalt phosphide catalysts are vital to their performance in alkaline water electrolysis. In this work, a CoP/CoP loaded on cellulose nanofiber-derived carbon aerogels (CP/CCAs) bifunctional electrocatalyst with a three-dimensional network and heterostructure is illustrated through sequential facile hydrothermal, freeze-drying, and phosphorylation processes. The three-dimensional network of carbon aerogels derived from cellulose nanofibers reveals a specific surface area of 183.

Background And Aims: Combining probiotics and prebiotics in synbiotics may present a synergistic approach to improve type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM); however, further evidence is required to establish the comparative efficacy of synbiotics versus probiotics. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis MN-Gup (MN-Gup) and a synbiotic mixture of MN-Gup and galactooligosaccharide (MN-Gup-GOS) on glycemic control in T2DM patients and explore possible mechanisms.

The treatment of large bone defects remains challenging due to the lack of spatiotemporal management of the immune microenvironment, inflammation response and bone remodeling. To address these issues, we designed and developed a nanoparticle/hydrogel hybrid system that can achieve the combined and sequential delivery of an anti-inflammatory factor (IL-10) and osteogenic drug (icariin, ICA). A photopolymerizable composite hydrogel was prepared by combining gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA) and heparin-based acrylated hyaluronic acid (HA) hydrogels containing IL-10, and poly(dl-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA)-HA nanoparticles loaded with ICA were incorporated into the composite hydrogels.

The charge transport of channel materials in n-type organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) is greatly limited by the adverse effects of electrochemical doping, posing a long-standing puzzle for the community. Herein, an n-type conjugated polymer with glycolated side chains (n-PT3) is introduced. This polymer can adapt to electrochemical doping and create more organized nanostructures, mitigating the adverse effects of electrochemical doping.

Objective: To explore the correlation between park view elements and their combinations on the heart rate (HR) and speed of walkers, joggers, and runners in different groups of people's profiles and walking types, provide suggestions for the planning and design of walking suitability of walking trails in parks, and guide people with different walking needs to scientifically choose walking trails in parks.
Methods: Profile data and exercise data of users who recorded walking activities in Century Park are collected on Strava, and the park view images (PVIs) were taken and segmented semantically. Data are grouped according to gender, age, weight and exercise type, and the quantitative relationship between HR, speed and 17 park view elements is studied by Spearman correlation analysis.

Double-bundle (DB) anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction has biomechanical advantages over single-bundle reconstruction. However, most studies perform the DB reconstruction with 2 femoral tunnels, which fails to provide an entire femoral footprint for ACL reconstruction. In this study, we describe a femoral double-bundle footprint technique for ACL reconstruction, named the tendon groove technique.

Heat interferes with multiple meiotic processes, leading to genome instability and sterility in flowering plants, including many crops. Despite its importance for food security, the mechanisms underlying heat tolerance of meiosis are poorly understood. In this study, we analyzed different meiotic processes in the Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) accessions Columbia (Col) and Landsberg erecta (Ler), their F1 hybrids, and the F2 offspring under heat stress (37°C).

However, the extreme environmental conditions at high altitudes and the elevated hematocrit levels in blood samples from these populations present significant challenges to the applicability of existing point-of-care testing (POCT) devices. This study describes the development, early clinical validation, and potential clinical impact of three portable, paper-based photochemical biosensing platforms specifically designed for use at high altitudes to monitor hemoglobin, lipids, and uric acid in blood samples.

Methanol, as a non-edible feedstock, offers a promising sustainable alternative to sugar-based substrates in biochemical production. Despite progress in engineering methanol assimilation in nonmethylotrophs, the full transformation into methanol-dependent synthetic methylotrophs remains a formidable challenge. Here, moving beyond the conventional rational design principle, we engineered a synthetic methylotrophic through genome rearrangement and adaptive laboratory evolution.

Brucella is an intracellular parasitic pathogen that causes the worldwide zoonotic disease brucellosis. The type IV secretion system (T4SS) is utilized to secrete various effectors to help Brucella form Brucella-containing vacuoles within the cell and accomplish intracellular trafficking and replication. Brucella has fewer recognized effector proteins than other intracellular parasites in the Proteobacteria, indicating that Brucella may contain a large number of unidentified effector proteins.

Background: Glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) is an incretin hormone and plays an important role in regulating glucose homeostasis. GLP-1 has a short half-life due to degrading enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase-IV and rapid kidney clearance, which limits its clinical application as a therapeutic agent. We demonstrated previously that supaglutide, a novel long-acting GLP-1 analog, exerted hypoglycemic, hypolipidemic, and weight loss effects in type 2 diabetic db/db mice, DIO mice, and diabetic monkeys.

Lignocellulosic biorefinery technology requires minimum energy consumption and wastewater generation to overcome challenges in industrial applications. This study established a rigorous model and a comprehensive physical property database of dry biorefining process on Aspen Plus platform for production including L-lactic acid, citric acid, sodium sugar acids, amino acid, and ethanol based on the experimental data. Full evaporation of wastewater (FEW) approach was proposed to completely replaced the external steam supply, and significantly reduced the freshwater input by 67% ∼ 85% and wastewater generation by 64% ∼ 89%, depending on the specific products.

Although adeno-to-squamous transition (AST) has been observed in association with resistance to epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) in clinic, its causality, molecular mechanism and overcoming strategies remain largely unclear. We here demonstrate that squamous transition occurs concomitantly with TKI resistance in PC9-derived xenograft tumors. Perturbation of squamous transition via DNp63 overexpression or knockdown leads to significant changes in TKI responses, indicative of a direct causal link between squamous transition and TKI resistance.
