There is a lack of effective therapeutic drugs in patients with postoperative colorectal cancer (PCRC). This study aimed to investigate the therapeutic effect and mechanisms of Bushen-Jianpi-Jiedu decoction (BSJPJDD) combined with chemotherapeutic drugs (oxaliplatin) on PCRC with liver and kidney yin deficiency and spleen deficiency syndrome (LKYD-SDS) through the therapeutic evaluation of clinical therapy and the integrative analysis of network pharmacology, RNA-seq and label-free data, and experiment verification . In clinical therapy, the median progression-free survival (PFS) and Karnofsky performance score (KPS) were increased in PCRC patients by the aqueous extract of BSJPJDD combined with oxaliplatin treatment for three months, compared to oxaliplatin alone ( < 0.

Objective: To investigate the efficacy of an herbal formula of Bushen Jianpi ( BSJP) combined with sorafenib on hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) in vitro and in vivo, and to study the underlying mechanisms of action.

Methods: BSJP, a mixture of 12 raw herbs, was extracted in 70% alcohol/30% water and freeze-dried into a powder. The in vitro effects of BSJP alone, sorafenib alone, and their combination on cell survival, apoptosis, and cell cycle distribution were evaluated in HCC cell lines HCCLM3, HepG2, and SMMC-7721.

Overuse of acetaminophen (APAP) is a major cause of drug-induced liver failure at the clinics. Apigenin (API) is a natural flavonoid derived from The aim of the present study was to investigate the amelioration function of API in APAP-induced hepatotoxicity both and and investigate its potential mechanisms. Analysis results of the activities of serum alanine and aspartate aminotransferases (ALT and AST), malondialdehyde, myeloperoxidase (MPO), and reactive oxygen species (ROS) demonstrated therapeutic effects of API.

Article Synopsis
  • Sleep disorders are prevalent in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD), with 77.53% of those studied experiencing these issues, often in multiple forms.
  • The study indicates that having several sleep disorders negatively affects the quality of life for PD patients, significantly contributing to their overall well-being.
  • Motor complications are shown to partially mediate the relationship between sleep disorders and quality of life, suggesting that addressing these sleep issues could improve patient outcomes.

Background: Diabetes is a metabolic disease and is often accompanied by severe microvascular and macrovascular complications. A comprehensive understanding of its complex mechanisms can help prevent type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) complications, such as diabetic nephropathy (DN).

Methods: To reveal the systemic metabolic changes related to renal injury, clinical information of T2DM patients with or without nephropathy was collected, and it was found that serum urea levels of DN patients were significantly higher in T2DM patients without nephropathy.

Objective: Renal anemia in patients with end-stage chronic kidney disease is closely related to the deterioration of cardiac function, renal function, and quality of life. This study involved adenine-induced renal anemic rat models and evaluated the treatment effect of Siwu granules and/or erythropoietin (EPO).

Methods: Fifty SD rats were randomly divided into 5 groups: control, model, Siwu, EPO, and Siwu plus EPO groups.

Objective: To explore the effect and mechanism of ShiZhiFang on uric acid metabolism.

Methods: 40 rats were divided into normal group, model group, ShiZhiFang group, and benzbromarone group. The hyperuricemic rat model was induced by yeast gavage at 15 g/kg and potassium oxonate intraperitoneal injection at 600 mg/kg for two weeks.

Effects of Shizhifang on NLRP3 Inflammasome Activation and Renal Tubular Injury in Hyperuricemic Rats.

Evid Based Complement Alternat Med

November 2017

Department of Nephrology, Shuguang Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, TCM Institute of Kidney Disease of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shanghai Key Laboratory of Traditional Chinese Clinical Medicine, No. 528 Zhangheng Road, Shanghai 201203, China.

Objective: Uric acid (UA) activates the NLRP3-ASC-caspase-1 axis and triggers cascade inflammatory that leads to hyperuricemic nephropathy and hyperuricemia-induced renal tubular injury. The original study aims to verify the positive effects of the traditional Chinese medicinal formula Shizhifang (SZF) on ameliorating the hyperuricemia, tubular injury, and inflammasome infiltration in the kidneys of hyperuricemic lab rats.

Method: Twenty-eight male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into four groups: control group, oxonic acid potassium (OA) model group, OA + SZF group, and OA + Allopurinol group.
