Background: α-synuclein, homocysteine (Hcy) and leucine-rich α2-glycoprotein (LRG) have been shown to correlate to Parkinson's disease (PD). However, it remains unclear whether these factors are associated with the occurrence of cognitive impairment (CI) in PD patients.

Methods: This study initially enrolled eligible PD patients without cognitive impairment.

Ovarian cancer represents a severe gynecological malignancy with a dire prognosis, underscoring the imperative need for dependable biomarkers that can accurately predict drug response and guide therapeutic choices. In this study, we harnessed online single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNAseq) and bulk RNA sequencing (RNAseq) datasets, applying the Scissor algorithm to identify cells responsive to paclitaxel. From these cells, we derived a gene signature, subsequently used to construct a prognostic model that demonstrated high sensitivity and specificity in predicting patient outcomes.

Department of Pharmacy, Fujian Maternity and Child Health Hospital College of Clinical Medicine for Obstetrics and Gynecology and Pediatrics, Fujian Medical University, Fuzhou, China.

Introduction: Studies on the use of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) for preventing venous thromboembolism (VTE) in hospitalized cancer patients are lacking. Therefore, we conducted a multicenter retrospective cohort study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of DOACs versus low-molecular-weight heparin (LMWH) for the primary prevention of VTE in hospitalized cancer patients.

Methods: Clinical outcomes included thrombosis, VTE, other thrombosis, all bleeding, major bleeding, nonmajor bleeding, and all-cause death.

To comprehensively explore the impact of Mono-ADP-ribosyltransferases-1 expression on both prognosis and the intricate landscape of the tumor immune microenvironment across diverse cancer types, our study seeks to delve into the multifaceted interplay between Mono-ADP-ribosyltransferases-1 expression levels and their implications for clinical outcomes and the dynamic milieu of immune responses within tumors. Genomic, transcriptomic, and clinical datasets spanning diverse cancer types were meticulously curated from The Cancer Genome Atlas and Genotypic Tissue Expression repositories. Initially, our inquiry focused on discerning the prognostic significance and immunological implications of Mono-ADP-ribosyltransferases-1 expression across this heterogeneous spectrum of malignancies.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most common neurodegenerative disorder worldwide. Drug delivery to the brain through the blood-brain barrier (BBB) is a significant challenge in PD treatment. Exosomes, which can efficiently traverse the BBB, which many drugs cannot penetrate, are ideal natural carriers for drug delivery.

Currently, there is no effective treatment for Parkinson's disease (PD), and the regenerative treatment of neural stem cells (NSCs) is considered the most promising method. This study aimed to investigate the protective effect and mechanism of NSCs on neurons in 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine (MPTP) induced cynomolgus monkey (Macaca fascicularis) model of PD. We first found that injecting NSCs into the subarachnoid space relieved motor dysfunction in PD cynomolgus monkeys, as well as reduced dopaminergic neuron loss and neuronal damage in the substantia nigra (SN) and striatum.

Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the clinical value of radiomics based on non-enhanced head CT in the prediction of hemorrhage transformation in acute ischemic stroke (AIS).

Materials And Methods: A total of 140 patients diagnosed with AIS from January 2015 to August 2022 were enrolled. Radiomic features from infarcted areas on non-enhanced CT images were extracted using ITK-SNAP.

Astaxanthin (ASX) is a natural antioxidant with preventive and therapeutic effects on various human diseases. However, the role of ASX in cardiac hypertrophy and its underlying molecular mechanisms remain unclear.Cardiomyocytes (AC16) were used with angiotensin-II (Ang-II) to mimic the cardiac hypertrophy cell model.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study focused on the frequency and risk factors of postoperative delirium in elderly patients after hip surgery, aiming to identify ways to prevent this condition.
  • - Out of 97 patients analyzed, 32 (32.9%) experienced delirium post-surgery, with contributing factors including age, height, gender, and preoperative health indicators.
  • - A significant finding was that the risk of delirium increased by 12% for every additional 10 years in patient age, and a history of delirium in the recovery unit was a strong predictor of developing postoperative delirium.

Introduction: Breast cancer has a high incidence and mortality rate in women due to metastasis and drug resistance which is associated with vasculogenic mimicry (VM). We purposed to explore VM formulation in breast cancer and mechanism of which is involved in EphA2/PIK3R1/CTNNB1 in the present study.

Methods: The expression of EphA2/PIK3R1/CTNNB1 and breast cancer patient prognosis was analyzed from TCGA data, both gene and protein expression as well as VM were measured in human breast cancer tissue samples collected in our study.

Introduction: The primary factor for cardiovascular disease and upcoming cardiovascular events is atherosclerosis. Recently, carotid plaque texture, as observed on ultrasonography, is varied and difficult to classify with the human eye due to substantial inter-observer variability. High-resolution magnetic resonance (MR) plaque imaging offers naturally superior soft tissue contrasts to computed tomography (CT) and ultrasonography, and combining different contrast weightings may provide more useful information.
