Introduction: Health education, weight control and exercise therapy are recognised treatment options for the non-surgical management of knee osteoarthritis (KOA); however, the pain and muscle fatigue associated with exercise make it difficult for patients to initially adhere. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) massage is an important complementary and alternative therapy that can effectively address these deficiencies. According to TCM theory and preliminary clinical practice, loosening of the muscles while pointing to acupoints can promote the recovery of KOA.

Introduction: Colonoscopy is currently the most commonly used and effective method for early detection, diagnosis and treatment of tumours of the colon and rectum. However, similar to other invasive procedures, it is associated with adverse reactions such as pain and abdominal distension. Electroacupuncture (EA) has been proposed as a potential treatment for relieving this discomfort; however, there is limited evidence supporting its efficacy.

Objective: Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a prevalent condition in China, necessitating effective assessment tools for treatment outcomes. This study systematically reviews and analyzes the reliability, validity, and selection of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) for evaluating KOA.

Methods: Following PRISMA guidelines, a literature search was conducted across seven databases, including CNKI, PubMed, and Embase, covering publications from December 2012 to December 2022.

Acupuncture ameliorates depression-like behavior of poststroke depression model rats through the regulation of gut microbiota and NLRP3 inflammasome in the colon.

This study was conducted to examine the effects of acupuncture on gut microbiota and expression of NLRP3 inflammasome in the colon in poststroke depression (PSD) model rats. Sprague-Dawley male rats were randomized into four groups: sham surgery group, poststroke depression group, acupuncture group, and probiotics group. Acupuncture therapy at Baihui (GV20), Shenting (GV24), bilateral Zusanli (ST36) acupoints in the acupuncture group and probiotic gavage therapy in the probiotics group were performed once per day for 2 weeks.

Emerging evidence has illuminated the pivotal role of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in orchestrating immunological functions and autoimmune responses. In the context of Crohn's disease (CD), an array of novel lncRNAs has been identified in the plasma and intestinal tissues of afflicted individuals, suggesting a dualistic influence on the disease progression, either exacerbating or mitigating its course. Current research has demonstrated the involvement of lncRNAs in competitive endogenous RNA, the inflammation process, epithelial barrier function, gut microbiota imbalance, and epigenetic regulation.

Objective: This study aimed to explore the therapeutic efficiency as well as mechanism of acupuncture combined with Bushen-Jianpi decoction (BJD) to treat rats with diminished ovarian reserve (DOR).

Methods: A DOR rat model was constructed using zona pellucida 3 peptide, and acupuncture, BJD, and their combination were administered as therapeutic interventions. We measured changes in the ovarian indexes, the number of follicles at all levels, the serum levels of sex hormones and immune factors, the expression levels of phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K), AKT, p-AKT, and caspase-3, and the changes in the proportions of splenic T cell subtypes, including T-helper 17 (Th17), Tc17, regulatory T (Treg), CD4, and CD8 cells.

Background: Asparaginase (ASP) is an important drug in combined chemotherapy regimens for pediatric acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL); ASP-associated pancreatitis (AAP) is the main adverse reaction of ASP. Recurrent pancreatitis is a complication of AAP, for which medication is ineffective.

Bilirubin potentiates etomidate-induced sedation by enhancing GABA-induced currents after bile duct ligation.

Objectives: Our previous clinical trial showed that etomidate requirements to reach an appropriate level of anesthesia in patients with obstructive jaundice were reduced, which means that these patients are more sensitive to etomidate. However, the mechanism is still not completely clear. The present study was aimed to investigate the mechanism by which bilirubin facilitates etomidate induced sedation.

A female with recurrent gastrointestinal bleeding: an obscure diminutive lesion requiring a massive blood transfusion.

Obscure gastrointestinal bleeding (OGIB) is bleeding of unknown origin after a negative initial or primary colonoscopy and upper endoscopy result. Small bowel bleeding accounts for 5% of GI bleeding but it is the most prominent cause of OGIB. We present a case with an obscure diminutive polypoid vascular anomaly of small intestine.

This study interpreted the roles of miR-99a-5p in DR patients and human retinal microvascular endothelial cell (hRMECs) injury induced by high glucose. Clinical characteristics and endoscopic treatment of pancreatitis caused by pancreaticobiliary malformation in Chinese children.

Objectives: We aimed to describe the clinical characteristics of pediatric patients with pancreatitis caused by pancreaticobiliary malformation and to evaluate the efficacy and safety of magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP) and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) in the diagnosis of the disease.

Methods: Medical records of pediatric patients with pancreatitis related to pancreaticobiliary malformation diagnosed by ERCP and treated in our hospital between April 2008 and December 2020 were retrospectively reviewed. Clinical manifestations, laboratory indicators, genetic testing results and imaging findings including MRCP were collected.
