Methods: Total number of patients was 2228. These patients of thyroid tumors from 1992-2004 (2072 cases of benign thyroid diseases and 156 cases of thyroid carcinoma) were recruited.

[Osteogenesis of rabbit skin fibroblast transfected with core binding factor a1/osteoblast specific transplanting factor-2 gene].

Objective: To study osteoblastic phenotype expression of New Zealand rabbit skin fibroblasts transfected with mouse core binding factor a1/osteoblast specific transplanting factor-2 gene (Cbfa1/Osf2).

Methods: Cbfa1/Osf2 gene, engineered into eukaryotic expression vector pSG5, was introduced into New Zealand rabbit skin fibroblasts with catholyte liposomes-Lipofectamine 2000. Meanwhile, those transfected pSG5 and un-transfected were set the control groups.

[Perforin and granzyme B expression in liver allograft rejection].

Objective: To investigate the expression of perforin and granzyme B in rejection response following liver transplantation, and evaluate their roles to be used as predictive markers of rejection.

Methods: The expression of perforin and granzyme B in liver biopsies obtained from liver allograft recipients was determined by immunohistochemistry. Biopsies were classified into two groups-no evidence of rejection and rejection-according to Histopathologic criteria.

Method: Ten cases of cholesteatoma otitis media were treated with simple redical mastoidectomy. Thirty-four cases were treated with open-ended tympanoplasty.

[3D geometric simulation of mandible with dental arch from CT data].

Objective: A 3D geometric simulation of mandible with dental arch from CT has been obtained in this study.

Methods: This process uses automatic system assisted with interactive action to get 2D contour data from CT images,then 3D wireframe model and solid model were obtained by using CAD/CAM software Pro-E(USA) and DELCAM(UK).

Results: 3D solid model of mandible with dental arch were presented which can be fully edited.

[Concentration of arsenic trioxide in animal tongue tissue by transartery catheterization].

Objective: To compare the differences of As(2)O(3) concentration in rabbit tongue tissue between arterial infusion and intravenous injection.

Methods: 4 clean rabbits were divided into the artery group and the vein group at random. The rabbits in both groups received arsenic trioxide of the same concentration and same volume.

[Changes of endometrial macrophages and nature kill cells during luteal phase and early pregnancy].

Methods: The number of macrophage and nature kill (NK) cells in decidua and endometrium were determined in 19 cases of early pregnancy and 11 non-pregnant women respectively by cytometric analysis.

[Induction of differentiation of human gastric cancer cell line by retinoic acid].

The growth rate and weight of transplanted tumor of SGC7901 gastric cancer cell line, treated with 10 mumol/L retinoic acid (RA) in nude mice, were significantly reduced in comparison with those of control cells. The morphology of RA-treated cells was changed from ellipse shape with meandering margin of a large nucleus to shuttle shape with smooth margin of a small nucleus. With flow cytometry, it was found that G/O Phase markedly increased after the RA treatment, whereas S and G2 + M phase decreased.

[Insulin resistance and its relationship to intracellular calcium metabolism in essential hypertension].

Insulin resistance (IR) and intracellular calcium metabolism in 26 essential hypertensive (EH) patients (18 non-obese, 8 obese) were studied and compared with 24 normotensive (NT) subjects. The changes of plasma insulin and glucose before and after intravenous glucose tolerance test (IVGTT), the platelet cytoplasmic ionized calcium concentration ([Ca2+]i) with the fluorescent indicator Quin 2 and the Ca2+ pump activities in erythrocyte (RBC) lysates with the improved Vincenzi method were studied. [Biologic and molecular genetic properties of a transplantable human primary gastric cancer in nude mice].

A human primary gastric cancer tissue (adenocarcinoma II-III) was transplanted into nude mice (SWISS/DF. nu/nu). It has been transferred for 8 generations at 56 sites in 28 nude mice with transplantable rate of 100%.

The use of nickel-titanium alloy in orthopedic surgery in China.

A new biomaterial made of nickel and titanium with its shape-memory characteristics has been manufactured, investigated, and used in Shanghai, China. Since 1981, this biomaterial has been used in 265 cases clinically, among which 71 involved orthopedic surgery. Results are satisfactory without failure in our short-term follow up.
