Background: Lumbosacral muscle strain (LMS) is common in Chinese elite trampoline athletes. Advanced lumbar muscle activation is necessary for postural control before upper extremity voluntary movements, called anticipatory postural adjustment to reduce internal postural interference (IPI). The potential of delayed lumbar muscle activation has been reported in patients with non-specific LBP (NLBP) in response to IPI.

Background: Slow flow/no-reflow (SF-NR) during percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is associated with poor prognosis of patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Currently, effective treatment is not available for SF-NR. Electroacupuncture (EA) has shown significant efficacy as an adjuvant therapy for many cardiovascular diseases by improving microcirculation and reducing ischemia-reperfusion injury.

The hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis is a critical component of the neuroendocrine system, playing a central role in regulating the body's stress response and modulating various physiological processes. Dysregulation of HPA axis function disrupts the neuroendocrine equilibrium, resulting in impaired physiological functions. Acupuncture is recognized as a non-pharmacological type of therapy which has been confirmed to play an important role in modulating the HPA axis and thus favorably targets diseases with abnormal activation of the HPA axis.

Traditional treatment approaches primarily rely on pharmacotherapy and behavioral therapy, yet not all patients benefit from these methods, and they often come with certain side effects. Thus, identifying safe and effective alternative or adjunctive treatments is of paramount importance.

Background: Our previous studies showed that laser moxibustion may be effective in alleviating the symptoms of knee osteoarthritis. However, the therapeutic effect in patients with different Kellgren-Lawrence (KL) grades is still unclear. We aimed to compare the efficacy of laser moxibustion in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis with different KL grades.

Background: About one-third of patients experience postoperative ileus (POI) after abdominal surgery, which can cause various complications and has not been treated well in clinical practice. The comprehensive treatment offered by traditional Chinese medicine may be a good choice for promoting intestinal mobility. Therefore, the aim of this study protocol is to observe the effectiveness of acupuncture combined with auricular acupressure in decreasing the incidence and related symptoms of POI.

As a subtype of the 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) receptor, 5-HT1A receptors are involved in the pathological process of psychiatric disorders and is an important target for antidepressants. The research groups focus on these area have tried to design novel compounds to alleviate depression by targeting 5-HT1A receptor. The heterocyclic structures is an important scaffold to enhance the antidepressant activity of ligands, including piperazine, piperidine, benzothiazole, and pyrrolidone.

Glutathione (GSH)‑degrading enzymes are essential for starting the first stages of GSH degradation. These enzymes include extracellular γ‑glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT) and intracellular GSH‑specific γ‑glutamylcyclotransferase 1 (ChaC1) and 2. These enzymes are essential for cellular activities, such as immune response, differentiation, proliferation, homeostasis regulation and programmed cell death.

Introduction: Patients with breast cancer often suffer from depressive symptoms throughout various stages of cancer, significantly impacting their quality of life and treatment outcomes. Non-pharmaceutical interventions such as psychotherapy, mind-body therapies and physical exercise have shown effectiveness in addressing cancer-related depression. However, the efficacy and safety of different non-pharmacological interventions remain a topic of debate.

Background: The periaqueductal gray (PAG) plays a well-established pivotal role in the descending pain modulatory circuit. The objective of this study was to investigate morphological changes in the astroglia in models that are commonly used in pain and itch studies.
Methods: Five different mouse models of pain, as well as two models of chronic itch, were established using complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA), spared nerve injury (SNI), bone cancer pain (BCP), cisplatin (CIS), and paclitaxel (PTX) for pain, and diphenylcyclopropenone (DCP) and acetone and diethyl ether followed by water (AEW) for chronic itch.

Itch, a common somatic sensation, serves as a crucial protective system. Recent studies have unraveled the neural mechanisms of itch at peripheral, spinal cord as well as cerebral levels. However, a comprehensive understanding of the central mechanism governing itch transmission and regulation remains elusive.

Background: There is a scarcity of studies that quantitatively assess the difficulty and importance of knowledge points (KPs) depending on students' self-efficacy for learning (SEL). This study aims to validate the practical application of psychological measurement tools in physical therapy education by analyzing student SEL and course conceptual structure.
Methods: From the "Therapeutic Exercise" course curriculum, we extracted 100 KPs and administered a difficulty rating questionnaire to 218 students post-final exam.

Acupuncture is widely used to treat dry eye disease (DED), but its effect has not been reported in treating video display terminal (VDT)-related dry eye, and the mechanism of acupuncture on VDT-related dry eye is also unknown. In our study, the tear proteome was compared with identifying possible mechanisms and biomarkers for predicting acupuncture effectiveness in VDT-related dry eye. The results showed that the ocular surface disease index scores were significantly different between the acupuncture group (AC group) and artificial tears group (AT group) at the end of the study, whereas tear film breakup time (TFBUT) and Schirmer I test (SIT) were not significantly different between the groups.

Background: Severe pneumonia (SP) stands as one of the most prevalent critical illnesses encountered in clinical practice, characterised by its rapid onset and progression, numerous complications and elevated mortality rates. While modern medical interventions primarily focus on symptomatic management such as anti-infective therapy and mechanical ventilation, challenges including high drug resistance and suboptimal therapeutic outcomes for certain patients persist. Dry cupping as an ancient practice with over a millennium of clinical use in China is renowned for its convenience and perceived clinical efficacy in various illnesses.

The anemia of inflammation (AI) is characterized by the presence of inflammation and abnormal elevation of hepcidin. Accumulating evidence has proved that Rocaglamide (RocA) was involved in inflammation regulation. Nevertheless, the role of RocA in AI, especially in iron metabolism, has not been investigated, and its underlying mechanism remains elusive.
