Background: The effectiveness of using a balloon guide catheter during endovascular thrombectomy in patients with acute ischaemic stroke due to large vessel occlusion of the anterior circulation remains uncertain. We aimed to assess the effectiveness and safety of using a balloon guide catheter during endovascular thrombectomy, compared with using a conventional guide catheter, in this patient population.

Methods: We conducted a multicentre, open-label, blinded-endpoint, randomised controlled trial at 28 hospitals in China.

Purpose: Anemia is relatively common in cancer patients, and is associated with poor survival in patients with various malignancies. However, how anemia would affect prognosis and response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) in osteosarcoma (OS) is still without substantial evidence.

Methods: We retrospectively analysed 242 patients with stage II OS around the knee joint in our institute.

Multiple sclerosis is associated with adverse outcomes following hip and knee arthroplasty: A systematic review and meta-analysis of observational studies.

Mult Scler Relat Disord

November 2023

Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, The Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University, No.1 Minde Road, Nanchang 330006, The People's Republic of China. Electronic address:

Background: The association of multiple sclerosis (MS) with joint diseases has been established. However, the impact of MS on postoperative outcomes following total joint arthroplasty (TJA) remains controversial. Therefore, a systematic review of the literature is warranted to ascertain the relationship between MS and adverse outcomes post-TJA.

Increased SPRY1 expression activates NF-κB signaling and promotes pancreatic cancer progression by recruiting neutrophils and macrophages through CXCL12-CXCR4 axis.

Cell Oncol (Dordr)

August 2023

State Key Laboratory of Oncogenes and Related Genes, Shanghai Cancer Institute, Ren Ji Hospital, School of Medicine, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, 800 Dongchuan Road, Shanghai, 200240, People's Republic of China.

Purpose: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is an aggressive disease with a high mortality rate, in which about 90% of patients harbor somatic oncogenic point mutations in KRAS. SPRY family genes have been recognized as crucial negative regulators of Ras/Raf/ERK signaling. Here, we investigate the expression and role of SPRY proteins in PDAC.

Background: Deep-learning-based computer-aided diagnosis (DL-CAD) systems using MRI for prostate cancer (PCa) detection have demonstrated good performance. Nevertheless, DL-CAD systems are vulnerable to high heterogeneities in DWI, which can interfere with DL-CAD assessments and impair performance. This study aims to compare PCa detection of DL-CAD between zoomed-field-of-view echo-planar DWI (z-DWI) and full-field-of-view DWI (f-DWI) and find the risk factors affecting DL-CAD diagnostic efficiency.

Regulation of Semaphorin3A in the process of cutaneous wound healing.

Cell Death Differ

October 2022

Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Oral Diseases, Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing, Jiangsu, PR China.

Semaphorin 3A (Sema3A) has been recognized as a crucial regulator of morphogenesis and homeostasis over a wide range of organ systems. However, its function in cutaneous wound healing is poorly understood. In our study, we demonstrated that Sema3A adenovirus plasmids transfection limited keratinocyte proliferation and decreased migrative capacity as assessed by in vitro wound healing assay.

Background: Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is one of the most prevalent malignancies worldwide. More recently, the administration of immune checkpoint inhibitors has opened up more possibilities for cancer treatment.

Methods: We utilized a weighted gene co-expression network and the single sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA) algorithm in the TCGA database and identified a module highly correlated with regulatory T cell (Treg) abundance in OSCC.

Cell Commun Signal

December 2021

Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Oral Diseases, Nanjing Medical University, No.1, Shanghai Road, Gulou District, Nanjing, Jiangsu, 210029, People's Republic of China.

Background: Eukaryotic translation initiation factor 6 (eIF6), also known as integrin β4 binding protein, is involved in ribosome formation and mRNA translation, acting as an anti-association factor. It is also essential for the growth and reproduction of cells, including tumor cells. Yet, its role in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) remains unclear.

Background: In clinical practice, Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) purportedly has beneficial therapeutic effects for chronic kidney disease (CKD), which include delaying disease progression and dialysis initiation. However, there is a lack of high-quality evidence-based results to support this. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of CHM combined with Western medicine in the treatment of stage 5 CKD.

Objective: Uterine artery occlusion is often used to treat symptomatic uterine myomas, as this is a minimally invasive approach. However, alternative methods for uterus-sparing therapy are in development. This study aimed to compare the clinical effects of laparoscopic uterine artery occlusion (LUAO) in combination with laparoscopic myomectomy (LM) with LM alone for the management of symptomatic uterine leiomyomas.

Objective: To explore the effect and mechanism of vitamin D supplementation in early life on rat asthma model.

Method: Thirty two sex-mature, female Wistar rats were randomly divided into a control group (n = 8), a low dose group (n = 8), a medium dose group (n = 8) and a high dose group (n = 8). From the seventh day of pregnancy on, the rats in each group were given different doses of vitamin D by intragastric administration, until the offspring rats were 21 days old.
