The study investigates the unclear link between metabolic syndrome (MetS) and Alzheimer's disease (AD) risk through a meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies.
Six studies involving nearly 485,000 participants were analyzed, revealing no significant overall association between MetS and AD risk.
However, certain MetS components had varying effects: abdominal obesity was linked to a reduced AD risk, while high blood pressure and hyperglycemia were associated with an increased AD risk.
