Objective: The present study evaluated the effects of deep acupuncture at Weizhong acupoint (BL40) on bladder function and brain activity in a rat model of overactive bladder (OAB), and investigated the possible mechanisms around the acupuncture area that initiate the effects of acupuncture.
Methods: Adult female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into six groups, comprising a control group, model group, group treated with deep acupuncture at BL40, group treated with shallow acupuncture at BL40, group treated with acupuncture at non-acupoint next to BL40, and group treated with acupuncture at Xuanzhong (GB39). Urodynamic evaluation was used to observe the urination, and functional magnetic resonance imaging was used to observe the brain activation.

Bupleurum, a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herb, is widely used in China and other Asian countries to manage chronic liver inflammation and viral hepatitis. Saikosaponin D (SSD), a triterpenoid saponin extracted from Bupleurum, exhibits extensive pharmacological properties, including anti‑inflammatory, antioxidant, anti‑apoptotic, anti‑fibrotic and anti‑cancer effects, making it a therapeutic candidate for numerous diseases. Clarifying the targets and molecular mechanisms underlying TCM compounds is essential for scientifically validating TCM's therapeutic roles in disease prevention and treatment, as well as for identifying novel therapeutic targets and lead compounds.

Background: Extensive research has underscored the criticality of preserving diversity and equilibrium within the gut microbiota for optimal human health. However, the precise mechanisms by which the metabolites and targets of the gut microbiota exert their effects remain largely unexplored. This study utilizes a network pharmacology methodology to elucidate the intricate interplay between the microbiota, metabolites, and targets in the context of DM, thereby facilitating a more comprehensive comprehension of this multifaceted disease.

Depression is underpinned by a complex pathogenesis that involves the hippocampus and dorsal raphe nucleus (DRN) of the central nervous system. Although electroacupuncture (EA) is proven to be safe and effective for alleviating depression symptoms and causes minimal side effects its underlying therapeutic mechanism remains unclear. In this study, we performed targeted metabolomics to identify metabolite alterations in the hippocampus and DRN of Wistar Kyoto (WKY) rats and elucidate the role and potential mechanism of action of EA.

Objective: This research primarily focuses on exploring the changes in intrapulmonary vascular volume (IPVV) in radiological patterns of usual interstitial pneumonia (UIP) associated with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM), thereby inferring the possible mechanisms of the co-occurrence of diabetes and UIP patterns.
Methods: Thin-layer data were post-processed on the basis of high-resolution computed tomography (HRCT) and quantitatively assessed for IPVV. Changes in IPVV were compared between T2DM combined with UIP modality and T2DM non-UIP modality.

Background: Patients suffering from lower extremity venous ulcers typically undergo prolonged dressing changes, entailing extended treatment cycles and significant costs, creating an urgent need for effective continuous care. There is scarce literature reporting on the preferences and requirements for wound care within continuous care services for such conditions. Discrete choice experiments serve as an innovative method to elicit patient preferences, where the development of attributes and levels is a critically important process.

As a naturally derived inhibitor of autophagy, Kushenol E (KE) is a biprenylated flavonoid and is isolated from , which has been used for the treatment of cancer, hepatitis, and skin diseases. However, KE, as a poorly soluble drug, exhibited strong autophagy regulating activity in in vitro cancer cell lines, but no related studies have reported its antiovarian cancer property. Therefore, it is very beneficial to enhance the antineoplastic properties of KE by establishing an ovarian tumor-targeting nanoparticle system modified with tumor-homing c(RGDfK) peptides.

Background: The need for primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and staged PCI strategy for ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) with multivessel coronary disease is well documented. This study aimed to evaluate the efficiency, safety, and cost benefit of quantitative flow ratio (QFR)-guided staged PCI in patients with STEMI.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective study involving 2256 patients meeting STEMI criteria having at least one lesion (≥50 %) in non-infarct-related (NIR) arteries.

Glycolysis is one of the key metabolic reprogramming characteristics of ovarian cancer. Ursolic Acid (UA), as a natural compound, exerts a beneficial regulatory effect on tumor metabolism. In this study, we have confirmed through RNA-seq analysis and a series of and functional experiments that UA significantly inhibits ovarian cancer cell proliferation, promotes tumor apoptosis, and reduces glycolysis levels.
