Diagnostics (Basel)

October 2024

Department of Cardiology, Shanghai Fifth People's Hospital, Fudan University, Shanghai 200240, China.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) signifies the most prevalent supraventricular arrhythmia in humans and may lead to cerebral stroke, cardiac failure, and even premature demise. Aggregating strong evidence points to genetic components as a cornerstone in the etiopathogenesis of familial AF. However, the genetic determinants for AF in most patients remain elusive.

This study aimed to assess the cost-utility of romiplostim (ROMI) compared to eltrombopag (EPAG) as a second-line treatment for chronic primary immune thrombocytopenia (cITP) in Chinese adults. A decision tree-embedded Markov model with a lifetime horizon was used to estimate the quality-adjusted life years (QALYs) and costs for ROMI versus EPAG from the perspective of the Chinese health care system. The model was driven by platelet response with a 4-week cycle.

Equity analysis of older adult resource allocation in China.

Front Public Health

July 2024

Shanghai Institute of Infectious Disease and Biosecurity, Fudan University, Shanghai, China.

Objective: To evaluate the current status and equity of older adult resource allocation in the 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) of mainland China, and to offer recommendations for the optimization of these allocations.

Methods: Four key indicators, namely, the number of older adult institutions, employees, professionals, and beds in mainland China in the year 2020, were used and analyzed using various methods and tools, including agglomeration analysis, the Gini coefficient, and the Lorenz Curve. These methods were applied to evaluate the equity of older adult resource allocation across the different provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) and regions of China, using two dimensions, namely, the geographical area and the older adult population.

Many patients with Type B aortic dissection (TBAD) may not show noticeable symptoms until they become intervention and help prevent critically ill, which can result in fatal outcomes. Thus, it is crucial to screen people at high risk of TBAD and initiate the necessary preventive and therapeutic measures before irreversible harm occurs. By developing a prediction model for aortic arch morphology, it is possible to accurately identify those at high risk and take prompt action to prevent the adverse consequences of TBAD.
