Impact of salpingectomy on the risk and characteristics of ectopic pregnancy after IVF/ICSI in patients with ectopic pregnancy history: A large retrospective cohort study.

Introduction: Ectopic pregnancy (EP) is a serious clinical gynecological emergency. Patients with EP history are at higher risk of EP resulting from IVF/ICSI (IVF-EP). Besides, studies have suggested that previous EP treatments may affect the incidence of IVF-EP.

Micra Leadless and Transvenous Pacemaker: A Single-Center Comparative Study of QRS Wave Duration Resulting From Different Pacing Sites.

Objective: To compare the paced QRS duration on different sites in age-, gender-, and indication-matched patients implanted with Micra leadless pacemakers and conventional transvenous pacemakers (TV-PM).

Method: A total of 82 patients from Xinhua Hospital, Shanghai Jiaotong University, were enrolled, including two groups of 41 patients matched according to gender, age, and pacemaker indications, who underwent Micra and TV-PM implantations, respectively. The baseline data of the patients, the pacing site described using three- and nine-partition methods, and the paced QRS duration on 12-lead electrocardiogram were then analyzed.

Microglial phagocytosis of haematomas is crucial for neural functional recovery following intracerebral haemorrhage (ICH), a process regulated by various factors from within and outside the central nervous system (CNS). Extracellular vesicles (EVs), significant mediators of intercellular communication, have been demonstrated to play a pivotal role in the pathogenesis and progression of CNS diseases. However, the regulatory role of endogenous EVs on the phagocytic capacity of microglia post-ICH remains elusive.

Assessment of hemodynamic disturbances and impaired ventricular filling in asymptomatic fontan patients: A 4D flow CMR study.

Background: The Fontan procedure is a surgical intervention designed for patients with single ventricle physiology, wherein the systemic venous return is redirected into the pulmonary circulation, thereby facilitating passive pulmonary blood flow without the assistance of ventricular propulsion. Consequently, long-term follow-up of individuals who have undergone the asymptomatic Fontan procedure is essential.

Objectives: The aims of this investigation were to: 1) examine the impact of flow components and kinetic energy (KE) parameters on hemodynamic disturbances in asymptomatic Fontan patients and control group; 2) Assess left ventricular diastolic dysfunction through the analysis of 4D flow parameters across different Fontan sub-groups; 3) Compare intracardiac flow parameters among Fontan sub-groups based on morphological features of the left ventricle (LV) and right ventricle (RV).

The role of metabolites in the progression of osteoarthritis: Mechanisms and advances in therapy.

Unlabelled: Osteoarthritis (OA) is a progressive degenerative disease affected by many factors, and there is currently no effective treatment. In recent years, the latest progress in metabolomics in OA research has revealed several metabolic pathways and new specific metabolites involved in OA. Metabolites play significant roles in the identification and management of OA.

Influence of early rehabilitation nursing on postoperative rehabilitation of patients with hallux valgus based on information-motivation-behavior skills model.

Objective: To probe the influence of early rehabilitation nursing on postoperative rehabilitation of patients with hallux valgus on the basis of information-motivation-behavior skills (IMB) model.

Methods: Convenience sampling was adopted, and 80 patients with hallux valgus admitted to the Sixth People's Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University from July 2020 to July 2022 were randomly separated into control group (CG) and observation group (OG) with 40 patients in each group according to the time of admission. Patients in the CG received routine nursing and rehabilitation guidance and follow-up.

Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS): from mechanistic insights to therapeutic strategies.

Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a clinical syndrome of acute hypoxic respiratory failure caused by diffuse lung inflammation and edema. Development of a Nomogram and Risk Grouping System for Predicting 1-Year Overall Survival of Patients With Atypical Teratoid/Rhabdoid Tumors.

Purpose: Atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor (AT/RT) is a kind of central nervous system malignant tumor in children. In this study, we aimed to develop a practically clinical nomogram and risk grouping system to predict 1-year overall survival for patients with atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor.

Methods: The nomogram was constructed based on the pediatric tumor registry of Xinhua Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine.

The protection of UCK2 protein stability by GART maintains pyrimidine salvage synthesis for HCC growth under glucose limitation.

Overexpression of uridine-cytidine kinase 2 (UCK2), a key enzyme in the pyrimidine salvage pathway, is implicated in human cancer development, while its regulation under nutrient stress remains to be investigated. Here, we show that under glucose limitation, AMPK phosphorylates glycinamide ribonucleotide formyltransferase (GART) at Ser440, and this modification facilitates its interaction with UCK2. Through its binding to UCK2, GART generates tetrahydrofolate (THF) and thus inhibits the activity of integrin-linked kinase associated phosphatase (ILKAP) for removing AKT1-mediated UCK2-Ser254 phosphorylation under glucose limitation, in which dephosphorylation of UCK2-Ser254 tends to cause Trim21-mediated UCK2 polyubiquitination and degradation.

A multicenter study of neurofibromatosis type 1 utilizing deep learning for whole body tumor identification.

Deep-learning models have shown promise in differentiating between benign and malignant lesions. Previous studies have primarily focused on specific anatomical regions, overlooking tumors occurring throughout the body with highly heterogeneous whole-body backgrounds. Using neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) as an example, this study developed highly accurate MRI-based deep-learning models for the early automated screening of malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNSTs) against complex whole-body background.

Background: α-Synuclein (α-Syn) pathology is present in 30-50 % of Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients, and its interactions with tau proteins may further exacerbate pathological changes in AD. However, the specific role of different aggregation forms of α-Syn in the progression of AD remains unclear.

Objectives: To explore the relationship between various aggregation types of CSF α-Syn and Alzheimer's disease progression.

Prognostic performance of the two-step clinical care pathway in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.

Background & Aims: Current guidelines recommend a 2-step approach for risk stratification in patients with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) with Fibrosis-4 index (FIB-4) followed by liver stiffness measurement (LSM) by vibration-controlled transient elastography (VCTE) or similar second-line tests. This study aimed to examine to prognostic performance of this approach.

Methods: The VCTE-Prognosis Study was a longitudinal study of patients with MASLD who had undergone VCTE examinations at 16 centres from the US, Europe and Asia with subsequent follow-up for clinical events.

While treatments in clinic includes primary surgery and targeted chemotherapy, curative and survival trends in OC have not significantly improved. Background: Internet addiction has emerged as a significant mental health issue among university students. The study aimed to compare the network structures of Internet addiction and mental health symptoms among university students in China and Malawi, which provide insights into culturally sensitive prevention and intervention strategies.

Methods: Network analysis was used on two datasets: Malawi (n = 688) and China (n = 975) using the Internet Addiction Test and the Self-Reporting Questionnaire.

Guillain-Barré syndrome in patients with multiple myeloma: three cases report and literature review.

Background: Multiple myeloma (MM) with Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is relatively rare, and the specific mechanism is still unclear. The previous infection, surgery, and medication use may have contributed to the occurrence of GBS. The use of bortezomib in patients with MM can easily lead to peripheral neuropathy, which is similar to the symptoms of GBS, making it challenging to diagnose GBS.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is an age-related degenerative joint disease, prominently influenced by the pro-inflammatory cytokine interleukin-6 (IL-6). Although elevated IL-6 levels in joint fluid are well-documented, the uneven cartilage degeneration observed in knee OA patients suggests additional underlying mechanisms. This study investigates the role of interleukin-6 receptor (IL-6R) in mediating IL-6 signaling and its contribution to OA progression.

High FGF18 expression levels predict poor prognosis in endometrial carcinoma patients and promote tumor growth and metastasis.

Objective: To investigate if fibroblast growth factor 18 (FGF18) expression plays an important role in endometrial carcinoma (EC).

Methods: The clinicopathological associations and prognostic value of FGF18 expression were retrospectively analyzed in 190 patients with EC. FGF18 expression was stably knocked down in EC cell lines.

Surgical treatment of anomalous aortic origin of the coronary artery in paediatric patients: a Chinese single-center experience.

Purpose: An anomalous aortic origin of the coronary artery (AAOCA) is a rare congenital heart disease. Some high-risk anatomical structures are at risk of inducing cardiogenic shock or even sudden death. This article summarizes our surgical experience with AAOCA in paediatric patients.

Depression as a risk factor for osteoporosis independent of sarcopenia in hemodialysis patients: findings from a multicenter cross-sectional study.

Background: Osteoporosis and sarcopenia frequently occur in patients with end-stage renal disease undergoing hemodialysis (HD), and depression is also a common mental health issue in this population. Despite the prevalence of these conditions, the interrelationships among them remain poorly understood in HD patients.

Methods: In this multicenter cross-sectional study, 858 HD patients from 7 dialysis centers were recruited.

Transanal vs Laparoscopic Total Mesorectal Excision and 3-Year Disease-Free Survival in Rectal Cancer: The TaLaR Randomized Clinical Trial.

Importance: Previous studies have demonstrated the advantages of short-term histopathological outcomes and complications associated with transanal total mesorectal excision (TME) compared with laparoscopic TME. However, the long-term oncological outcomes of transanal TME remain ambiguous. This study aims to compare 3-year disease-free survival of transanal TME with laparoscopic TME.
