Diabetic patients are prone to developing chronic inflammation after trauma and have persistent nonhealing wounds. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) and recurrent bacterial infections at the site of long-term wounds also further delay skin wound healing and tissue regeneration. In this study, a granular gel (which exhibits ROS scavenging and antibacterial properties) is fabricated based on hyaluronic acid--lipoic acid (HA-LA).

The sirtuin family has been reported to participate in the regulation of oxidative stress, cancer metabolism, aging, and so on. However, few studies have demonstrated its role in ferroptosis. Our previous studies confirmed that SIRT6 is upregulated in thyroid cancer and associated with cancer development by regulating glycolysis and autophagy.

Patients with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) reportedly benefit from immune checkpoint blockade (ICB) therapy. However, the subtype-specific vulnerabilities of ICB in TNBC remain unclear. As the complex interplay between cellular senescence and anti-tumor immunity has been previously discussed, we aimed to identify markers related to cellular senescence that may serve as potential predictors of response to ICB in TNBC.

Intensification of radiotherapy has been shown to be an effective way for improving the therapeutic efficacy of radiation sensitive malignancies such as esophageal cancer (EC). The application of DNA Bait (Dbait), a type of DNA repair inhibitor, is an emerging strategy for radiosensitization. In this study, a Eca-109 cancerous cytomembrane-cloaked biomimetic drug delivery system (DDS), CMEC-Dbait, was designed and successfully fabricated, for targeted delivery of Dbait.

Purpose: To construct the expression profile of circular RNA (circRNA) in human oral lichen planus (OLP), and to identify and validate the differentially expressed circRNA in oral lichen planus tissues and provide theoretical basis for the diagnosis and treatment of this disease.
Methods: Six patients newly diagnosed with OLP from September to December 2018 in the Department of Oral Mucosal Diseases, Shanghai Ninth People's Hospital and 6 healthy volunteers were enrolled in this study. RNA sequencing and evaluation in OLP tissues and normal oral mucosa were performed by high-throughput RNA sequencing technology, and the differences between groups were analyzed.

Purpose: To explore the differential diagnosis of salivary gland tumors by multimodal ultrasound and to establish a preliminary scoring system by assigning meaningful parameters.
Methods: Seventy-seven tumors from 69 patients with salivary gland tumors were examined by two-dimensional gray-scale ultrasound, color Doppler flow imaging (CDFI), superb microvascular imaging(SMI), real time tissue elastography(RTE) and acoustic radiation force impulse (ARFI). Different scoring schemes were obtained for the assignment and combination of meaningful parameters.

Insomnia displays heterogeneous trajectories across adolescence, which may induce addictive behaviours, including internet gaming disorder and substance use. This study aimed to investigate the latent trajectory classes of insomnia symptoms over 2 years and to examine the associations between insomnia trajectories and these addictive behaviours. Participants were 910 adolescents from six middle schools in Shanghai, China (52.

The management of aggressive and progressive metastatic papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) is very difficult. An inverse relationship between radioiodine and F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake (''flip-flop'' phenomenon) is described for invasive PTC during dedifferentiation. However, no satisfactory biologic explanation for this phenomenon.

Newborn screening (NBS) is a public health service aimed at identifying infants with severe genetic disorders, thus providing effective treatment early enough to prevent or ameliorate the onset of symptoms. Current NBS uses biochemical analysis of dried blood spots, predominately with time-resolved fluorescence immunoassay and tandem mass spectrometry, which produces some false positives and false negatives. The application of enzymatic activity-based testing technology provides a reliable screening method for some disorders.

The material matrix in organoids can provide a 3D environment for stem cells to differentiate into different cell types and continuously self-renew, thereby realizing the in vitro culture of organs, which has received extensive attention in recent years. However, some challenges still exist in organoids, including low maturity, high heterogeneity, and lack of spatiotemporal regulation.

With their unlimited proliferative capacity and multifaceted differentiation potential and circumventing the ethical problems encountered in the application of embryonic stem cells (ESC), iPSCs have a broad application in the fields of cell therapy, drug screening, and disease models and may open up new possibilities for regenerative medicine to treat diseases in the future. In this review, we begin with different reprogramming cell technologies to obtain iPSCs, including biotechnological, chemical, and physical modulation techniques, and present their respective strengths, and limitations, as well as the recent progress of research.

Background Myocardial infarction (MI) is characterized by the emergence of dead or dying cardiomyocytes and excessive immune cell infiltration after coronary vessel occlusion. However, the complex transcriptional profile, pathways, cellular interactome, and transcriptional regulators of immune subpopulations after MI remain elusive. Methods and Results Here, male C57BL/6 mice were subjected to MI surgery and monitored for 1 day and 7 days, or sham surgery for 7 days, then cardiac CD45-positive immune cells were collected for single-cell RNA sequencing to determine immune heterogeneity.

Background: Sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy (SIC) is an identified serious complication of sepsis that is associated with adverse outcomes and high mortality. Heat shock proteins (HSPs) have been implicated in suppressing septic inflammation. The aim of this study was to investigate whether HSP70 can attenuate cellular mitochondrial dysfunction, exuberated inflammation and inflammasome-mediated pyroptosis for SIC intervention.

Here we reported a 59-year-old male who had undergone brain surgery three times and the pathological results showed atypical meningioma (2015, WHO grade I; 2018, WHO grade II; 2019, WHO grade II-III), with multiple pulmonary nodules, which arose during follow-up. A total-body F-FDG PET/CT showed multiple solid nodules with increased F-FDG metabolism (SUVmax = 8.6).

Because of the advancements in medicine and science, the numbers of patients surviving complicated diseases are continuously increasing, which in turn leads to elevated chances of anaerobic infections by endogenous bacteria. Traditional growth yield-based antibiotic susceptibility tests (ASTs) against anaerobic bacteria are very time-consuming (≥48 h) and labor intensive, which delays the timely guidance of antibiotic prescription and increases the mortality of patients. Inspired by a fluorescent d-amino acid (FDAA) labeling-based AST (FaAST) that we recently developed for quick determination of aerobic bacteria's susceptibilities, here we report an accurate and fast AST method for anaerobic pathogens.

As a narrow band-gap semiconductor, cuprous oxide (CuO) has a relatively high conduction band that can exhibit high driving force for the photocatalytic generation of hydrogen under visible light. Besides, its adjustable morphologies and abundant source also make it possible to be employed as a theoretically optimal photocatalyst. However, the low charge migration and poor stability commonly limit its practical application, and various strategies have been explored in previous studies.

Because of its high involvement in antibiotic therapy and the emergence of drug-resistance, the chemical structure and biosynthesis of bacterial peptidoglycan (PGN) have been some of the key topics in bacteriology for several decades. Recent advances in the development of fluorescent or bio-orthogonal stem peptide-mimicking probes for PGN-labeling have rekindled the interest of chemical biologists and microbiologists in this area. The structural designs, bio-orthogonal features and flexible uses of these peptide-based probes allow directly assessing, not only the presence of PGN in different biological systems, but also specific steps in PGN biosynthesis.
