Introduction: Centrally mediated abdominal pain syndrome (CAPS) is characterized by severe abdominal pain. Diagnosis of CAPS is still an exclusionary diagnosis, there remain no effective diagnostic biomarkers so far. Duloxetine is the major pharmacotherapy of CAPS, while some CAPS patients do not respond to duloxetine treatment.

Association between different infection profiles and one-year outcomes in ANCA-associated vasculitis: a retrospective study with monthly infection screening.

Objectives: This study aimed to explore clinical features of early infection in patients with antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody-associated vasculitis (AAV) and to identify the association between the infection profile of patients with AAV during the first 3 months and 1-year survival.

Methods: A total of 415 newly diagnosed patients with AAV in the Department of Nephrology at Shanghai Ruijin Hospital from 2000 to 2018 were included. Four Cox regression models were used to analyse the association based on demographics, comorbidities, laboratory baseline index and therapy parameter.

Transitional Care for Patients With Portal Hypertension: A Multicenter Study of Intervention for Post-TIPS Patients.

To explore the application effect of transitional nursing in patients with TIPS. A total of 368 patients were allocated to control group (conventional care) and intervention group (conventional care combined with transitional care). The Child-Pugh scores, blood ammonia levels, compliance behavior, medication compliance, and adverse event incidence rates were compared at 1, 3, 6, 9, and 12 months post-TIPS.

Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the distribution of T follicular helper (Tfh) cells in lupus patients, and the effects of steroids on circulating Tfh cells.

Methods: Circulating Tfh cell subsets were defined by multicolor flow cytometry as Tfh17, Tfh2 or Tfh1 subpopulations of CXCR5CD45RACD4 T cells in the peripheral blood of SLE patients and healthy controls. To test the effects of corticosteroid on Tfh cells, PBMC harvested from both SLE and healthy controls were cocultured with dexamethasone, and then analyzed by Flow cytometry.

Contrary to popular opinion that lean individuals "eat what they want" and exercise more, Hu et al. study a cohort of healthy underweight volunteers and reveal them to have reduced physical activity relative to normal BMI controls and lower food intake. This cohort is also shown to have higher than expected resting energy expenditure, which is associated with elevations in thyroid hormones.

Background: The hippocampus is a core region of interest for all major mental disorders, and its subfields implement distinctive functions. It is unclear whether the mental disorders exhibit common patterns of hippocampal impairments, and we lack knowledge on whether and how hippocampal subfields represent deficit spectra across mental disorders.

Methods: Using brain images of 1123 individuals scanned on a single magnetic resonance imaging scanner, we examined the commonality, specificity, and symptom associations of the volume of hippocampal subfields across patients with schizophrenia, patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder, patients with bipolar disorder, patients with major depressive disorder, and healthy control subjects.

Aim was to explore the associations between baseline cortisol levels and surgery method of primary bilateral macronodular adrenal hyperplasia (PBMAH). We retrospectively reviewed the clinical features and management of 30 patients (18 females and 12 males) who were diagnosed with PBMAH in our center between 2005 and 2019. Based on surgery method, we divided the patients into two groups: unilateral adrenalectomy (UA) group; and bilateral adrenalectomy (BA) group.

Herein, we describe a simple and robust EV detection platform that is based on a plasmonic nanoparticle-embedded polydopamine substrate that is modified with EV-capture molecules and detection probes.

Regulation of inflammation by VEGF/BDNF signaling in mouse retinal Müller glial cells exposed to high glucose.

The inflammatory changes seem to play an important role in the development of diabetic retinopathy (DR). Anti-VEGF therapy has been testified to inhibit inflammation in animal models of diabetes, but the detailed mechanisms during this process are not yet clear. Müller glial cells (MGCs) in the mammalian retina are deeply involved in DR, while the BDNF overexpression reduces inflammation in diabetic mice.

Ultrasound Image Texture Feature Learning-Based Breast Cancer Benign and Malignant Classification.

The use of ultrasound images to acquire breast cancer diagnosis information without invasion can reduce the physical and psychological pain of breast cancer patients and is of great significance for the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. There are some differences in the texture of breast cancer between benign and malignant cases. Therefore, this paper proposes an adaptive learning method based on ultrasonic image texture features to identify breast cancer.

Resection and reconstruction for radial polydactyly Type IV-D in 206 cases: a retrospective clinical analysis.

Background: Radial Polydactyly Type IV-D deformity is difficult to treat because of the most complex bone and soft tissue anomalies. Resection and reconstruction for one of the two thumbs was an option for treatment.

Objective: The study was to present our method of resection and reconstruction with a new incision for radial polydactyly Type IV-D and evaluate the clinical efficacy comprehensively using Rotterdam assessment system in a large sample.

Background: Education attainment can improve life expectancy and guide healthy behaviours throughout an entire lifetime. A nationwide longitudinal study of the association of education status with the risk of hypertension and its control in China is lacking.

Methods: The China Cardiometabolic Disease and Cancer Cohort Study is a multicentre, population-based, prospective cohort study.

A Prospective Multicenter Study of the Chinese Scoring System for Hepatitis B Liver Failure.

To evaluate the clinical utility of a Chinese scoring system for hepatitis B liver failure in a prospective and multicenter study. Clinical data for 1,143 patients with hepatitis B liver failure who had been followed up for a minimum of 6 months were collected from seven liver disease centers across China. The disease severity and prognosis for the patients were predicted using the Chinese scoring system and compared to those predicted with the model for end-stage liver disease (MELD) score, MELD-Na score, and Child-Turcotte-Pugh (CTP) score.

Genomic alterations in biliary tract cancer predict prognosis and immunotherapy outcomes.

Background: Recently, immunotherapy with immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) has shown promising efficacy in biliary tract cancer (BTC), which includes gallbladder cancer (GBC) and cholangiocarcinoma (CHOL). Understanding the association between immunotherapy outcomes and the genomic profile of advanced BTC may further improve the clinical benefits from immunotherapy.

Methods: Genomic tumor DNA was isolated from 98 Chinese patients with advanced BTC and used for targeted next-generation sequencing of 416 cancer-related genes to identify the genomic alterations common to advanced BTC.

Health-related quality of life in children with chronic myeloid leukemia in the chronic phase.

Purpose: This study aimed to explore the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and associated variables in children with chronic myeloid leukemia in the chronic phase (CML-CP) receiving tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs).

Methods: A cross-sectional questionnaire was given to children with CML and their parents, who were < 18 years at diagnosis of CML and < 19 years at study. The questionnaire comprised three parts, including demographic information, clinical information, and the Chinese version of Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL) Cancer Module 3.

Background: Amniotic band syndrome (ABS) is a congenital malformation that results in abnormalities in many parts of the body. Most surgical treatments for ABS used multi-stage Z-plasties. The purpose of this study was to assess the clinical results of one-stage circular incision techniques for limb ring constriction due to amniotic band syndrome.

Safety but Limited Efficacy of Ensartinib in ROS1-Positive NSCLC: A Single-Arm, Multicenter Phase 2 Study.

Introduction: Some ALK inhibitors with good inhibition of ROS1 in preclinical studies have been reported to be possibly beneficial in ROS1-positive NSCLC. In this work, we studied the efficacy and safety of ensartinib in the treatment of patients with ROS1-positive NSCLC.

Methods: The exploratory study was a phase 2, single-arm, multicenter design (NCT03608007).

Background: Obesity in men is also shown to be associated with reduced reproductive potential, and this particular subtype was described as male obesity-associated secondary hypogonadism (MOSH). Recent studies showing the influence of sleep disorders on testosterone levels suggested a potential role of sleep disorders in determining the development of MOSH.

Objectives: To assess the association between night-time sleep duration and day napping and the prevalence of MOSH.

Adolescents experienced more treatment failure than children with chronic myeloid leukemia receiving imatinib as frontline therapy: a retrospective multicenter study.

To explore the differences in the clinical features, treatment responses, and outcomes among children, adolescents, and adults with chronic myeloid leukemia in the chronic phase (CML-CP) receiving imatinib as first-line therapy. Data from children (0-8 years for girls and 0-10 years for boys), adolescents (9-19 years for girls and 11-19 years for boys), and adults (age ≥ 20 years) with newly diagnosed CML-CP receiving imatinib as first-line therapy between 2006 and 2019 were retrospectively reviewed. In total, 135 children (cohort 1), 189 adolescents (cohort 2), and 658 adults (cohort 3: age 20-39 years, n = 305; cohort 4: age 40-59 years, n = 270; and cohort 5: age 60-83 years, n = 83) were included in this study.
