Acute pancreatitis (AP) is a severe inflammatory disorder associated with metabolic reprogramming and mitochondrial dysfunction. This study investigated central carbon metabolism alterations in pancreatic acinar cells during AP, elucidated the molecular mechanisms of tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle disorders, and explored the role of protein hypersuccinylation in AP pathogenesis. Using in vitro and in vivo AP models, targeted metabolomics and bioinformatics analyses revealed TCA cycle dysregulation characterized by elevated succinyl-CoA and decreased succinate levels.

Importance: Radioactive iodine (131I or RAI) therapy has long been the standard of care for most patients with differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) after primary surgery. However, no multicenter prospective studies have identified the optimal administered activity and stimulation method for RAI therapy in patients with intermediate-risk DTC.
Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety of recombinant human thyrotropin (SNA001) with thyroid hormone withdrawal (THW) plus 3.

Head and neck CTA requires fine detail evaluation, including characterization of potentially very small vessels and intrastent lumens. Blooming artifacts also hinder evaluation. To evaluate image quality of ultra-high-resolution (UHR) photon-counting detector (PCD) CTA of the head and neck and to explore variation of such quality across reconstruction kernels.

Relapse remains the main cause of treatment failure in patients with myeloid malignancies even after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). We observed a particularly low incidence of relapse in patients prepared with fludarabine, busulfan and melphalan in our previous study and this multicenter retrospective analysis aimed to confirm the feasibility of the regimen and to identify the potential prognostic factors. This study was performed using registry data from adults patients with myeloid malignancies who underwent their first allo-HSCT following fludarabine(≥100 mg/m), busulfan (≥3.

Background: The long-term survival and perioperative outcomes of robotic-assisted lobectomy (RAL) and video-assisted lobectomy (VAL) in resectable non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) were found to be comparable in retrospective studies, but they have not been investigated in a randomized trial setting. We conducted the RVlob trial to investigate if RAL was non-inferior to VAL in patients with resectable NSCLC.
Methods: In this single-center, open-label, and parallel-arm randomized controlled trial conducted in Ruijin Hospital (Shanghai, China) between May 2017 and May 2020, we randomly assigned patients with resectable NSCLC in a 1:1 ratio to receive either RAL or VAL.

Background: Although there is a strong correlation between the novel cholesterol-to-lymphocyte ratio (CLR) and tumor survival, its prognostic significance in breast cancer (BC) is unknown. After analyzing the relationship between CLR and the overall survival (OS) of patients with BC, we created a predictive model.
Methods: Following retrospective enrollment, 1316 patients with BC were randomized into two cohorts: validation (n = 392) and training (n = 924).

Background: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has a poor prognosis, often characterized by microvascular invasion (MVI). Radiomics and habitat imaging offer potential for preoperative MVI assessment.
Purpose: To identify MVI in HCC by habitat imaging, tumor radiomic analysis, and peritumor habitat-derived radiomic analysis.

Centrally mediated abdominal pain syndrome (CAPS) has generated a heavy disease burden worldwide. This study aimed to explore the serum exosomal microRNAs (miRNAs) as potential diagnostic biomarkers for CAPS. From September 2022 to October 2023, 97 patients with CAPS and 96 healthy subjects were enrolled.

Background: Despite evidence supporting the high correlation of the novel platelet-to-albumin ratio (PAR) with survival in diverse malignancies, its prognostic relevance in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) remains underexplored. This study aimed to examine the link between PAR and overall survival (OS) in NPC and to establish a predictive model based on this biomarker.
Methods: We retrospectively assembled a cohort consisting of 858 NPC patients who underwent concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT).

Background: Structural imaging holds great potential for precise targeting and stimulation for deep brain stimulation (DBS). The anatomical information it provides may serve as potential biomarkers for predicting the efficacy of DBS in treatment-resistant depression (TRD).
Aims: The primary aim is to identify preoperative imaging biomarkers that correlate with the efficacy of DBS in patients with TRD.

Objectives: Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is a serious complication in patients treated with sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 inhibitors (SGLT2i). The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between SGLT2i and the risk of DKA, and to identify high-risk groups and characteristics that should be emphasised.
Methods: A retrospective case series study was conducted to collect medical records of inpatients diagnosed with DKA and using SGLT2i before the onset of the disease from September 2022 to September 2023 in a tertiary hospital in Shanghai.

Around 70% of patients diagnosed with hypertension exhibit increased levels of renin. SPH3127, an inventive renin inhibitor, has shown favorable tolerability and sustained pharmacodynamic inhibitory impact on plasma renin activity (PRA) during previous phase I trials. This phase II study was conducted to investigate the efficacy and safety of SPH3127 in patients with essential hypertension.

Background: Chronic shoulder pain is a common musculoskeletal problem associated with unreleased pain and functional dysfunction that can evolve into central sensitization. Some forms of manual therapy may exacerbate pain and central sensitization. This study investigated the impact of joint position sense therapy (JPST), a moderate joint proprioception training technique, on central sensitization, shoulder functional dysfunction, and pain in patients with chronic shoulder pain compared with more intense exercises or aggressive manual therapies.

Objective: This study aimed to develop and validate robust predictive models for patients with oesophageal cancer who achieved a pathological complete response (pCR) and those who did not (non-pCR) after neoadjuvant therapy and oesophagectomy.
Design: Clinicopathological data of 6517 primary oesophageal cancer patients who underwent neoadjuvant therapy and oesophagectomy were obtained from the National Cancer Database for the training cohort. An independent cohort of 444 Chinese patients served as the validation set.

Pancreatic cancer (PC) is a highly malignant cancer characterized by poor prognosis, high heterogeneity, and intricate heterocellular systems. Selecting an appropriate experimental model for studying its progression and treatment is crucial. Patient-derived models provide a more accurate representation of tumor heterogeneity and complexity compared to cell line-derived models.

Background: Liver hepatocellular cancer (LIHC) and stomach adenocarcinoma (STAD) are common malignancies with high lethal ratios worldwide. Great progress has been achieved by using diverse therapeutic strategies; however, these diseases still have an unfavourable prognosis. Ferroptosis inducer drugs, unlike apoptosis-related drugs, can overcome the resistance to cancer therapy caused by traditional chemicals.
