Ionic conductive hydrogels have attracted great attention due to their good flexibility and conductivity in flexible electronic devices. However, because of the icing and water loss problems, the compatibility issue between the mechanical properties and conductivity of hydrogel electrolytes over a wide temperature range remains extremely challenging to achieve. Although, antifreezing/water-retaining additives could alleviate these problems, the reduced performance and complex preparation methods seriously limit their development.

Improving future agricultural sustainability by optimizing crop distributions in China.

PNAS Nexus

January 2025

Department of Geosciences and Natural Resource Management, University of Copenhagen, DK-1350 Copenhagen, Denmark.

Improving agricultural sustainability is a global challenge, particularly for China's high-input and low-efficiency cropping systems with environmental tradeoffs. Although national strategies have been implemented to achieve Sustainable Development Goals in agriculture, the potential contributions of crop switching as a promising solution under varying future climate change are still under-explored. Here, we optimize cropping patterns spatially with the targets of enhancing agriculture production, reducing environmental burdens, and achieving sustainable fertilization across different climate scenarios.

Front Cell Dev Biol

December 2024

State Key Laboratory of Systems Medicine for Cancer, Shanghai Cancer Institute, Ren Ji Hospital, School of Medicine, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China.

Liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS) drives the formation of membraneless intracellular compartments within both cytoplasm and nucleus. These compartments can form distinct physicochemical environments, and in particular display different concentrations of proteins, RNA, and macromolecules compared to the surrounding cytosol. Recent studies have highlighted the significant role of aberrant LLPS in cancer development and progression, impacting many core processes such as oncogenic signalling pathways, transcriptional dysregulation, and genome instability.
