Aim: To understand the status of internalized stigma in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and explore its relationship with self-esteem, social support, and coping style.
Methods: This cross-sectional study selected patients with RA who visited the Rheumatology and Immunology Department of a tertiary hospital from May 2022 to May 2023. The Chinese versions of the Internalized Stigma of Mental Illness Scale-Rheumatoid Arthritis (ISMI-RA), Social Support Rating Scale, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, and Medical Coping Style Questionnaire were administered to assess the internalized stigma, social support, self-esteem, and coping styles, respectively.

Aim: To assess the clinical efficacy and safety of combining panretinal photocoagulation (PRP) with intravitreal conbercept (IVC) injections for patients with high-risk proliferative diabetic retinopathy (HR-PDR) complicated by mild or moderate vitreous hemorrhage (VH), with or without diabetic macular edema (DME).
Methods: Patients diagnosed with VH with/without DME secondary to HR-PDR and received PRP combined with IVC injections were recruited in this retrospective study. Upon establishing the patient's diagnosis, an initial IVC was performed, followed by prompt administration of PRP.

Blood vessels in bone regulate osteogenesis and hematopoiesis, however, whether LVs in bone affect fracture healing is unclear. Here, by near infrared indocyanine green lymphatic imaging (NIR-ICG), we examined lymphatic draining function at the tibial fracture sites and found lymphatic drainage insufficiency (LDI) occurred as early as two weeks after fracture.

This study aimed to assess the D-dimer level in patients with primary Sjögren syndrome (pSS), uncover its relationship with clinical symptoms, and appraise its predictive value in discriminating disease activity. The laboratory parameters of 101 consecutive patients with pSS and 101 healthy controls were analyzed and compared. Patients were divided into two subgroups according to their D-dimer levels, for the comparison of clinical features.

Purpose: We utilized a novel approach of combined photochemical tissue bonding (PTB) and human amniotic membrane (HAM) to improve hand tendon repair and also evaluated its efficacy.
Methods: Subei chickens underwent surgical transection of the flexor digitorum profundus tendons and repair by (1) SR (standard Kessler suture; n = 24; 6-0 prolene) and (2) HAM/PTB (n = 24), where a section of HAM was stained with 0.1% Rose Bengal, wrapped around the ruptured tendon and bonded with 532 nm light (0.

BACKGROUND It has been reported that p27Kip1 plays an important role not only in the inhibition of cyclin-dependent kinases but also in the regulation of autophagy under various metabolically related stress conditions, including glucose deprivation and endoplasmic reticulum stress. However, its effect on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced cardiomyocyte stress in vitro remains unclear. Here, we measured the increased expression of LC3-II and visualized autophagosomes in vitro by immunofluorescent assays after treatment with a p27 fusion protein.

To explore the role of type 1 regulatory T (Tr1) cells in allogeneic bone marrow transplantation (allo-BMT), we generated Tr1 cells from naïve CD4 T cells in donor mice that were subjected to stimulation of recipient interleukin (IL)-10 gene-modified dendritic cells (DCs). In animal models, the severity of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) in the group co-infused with DC-induced Tr1 cells was markedly milder than that in the groups without infusion of Tr1 cells. Moreover, the co-infusion Tr1 cells significantly prolonged the leukemia-free survival in tumor-bearing mice.

Epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) patients frequently suffer from thrombocytosis, which leads to a poor prognosis. However, the mechanism underlying platelet regulation of biological behavior in EOC remains unclear. The associations between clinicopathological characteristics and thrombocytosis in 171 EOC patients were studied, preoperative thrombocytosis was significantly associated with the stage, metastasis scope, level of preoperative CA125 and overall survival.

Context: Atopy and systemic onset juvenile idiopathic arthritis (SoJIA) are two potential outcomes of a dysregulated immune system. Although rare, SoJIA causes 60% of the morbidity of JIA patients which exhibit a wide heterogeneity of prognosis and treatment. Co-morbidities can complicate the responses to therapy.

Introduction: Severe and acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is associated with a high mortality. Since COPD is an airway inflammatory disease, and heparin has shown anti-inflammatory effects in previous studies, we evaluated the clinical effect of low molecular weight heparin (LMWH; nadroparin) in COPD patients admitted into the hospital due to acute exacerbations.
Methods: Sixty-six patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) were randomly divided into control group (n = 33) and LMWH group (n = 33).

Background: Central venous stenosis and obstruction (CVD) is a serious and prevalent challenge to both resolve the venous hypertension symptoms and maintain the pantency of the ipsilateral hemodialysis access in hemodialysis patients. This study aimed to summarize our experience of the endovascular management of the central venous stenosis or obstruction in hemodialysis patients.
Methods: Twenty-four haemodialysis cases of central vein stenosis or obstruction with ipsilateral functional vascular access in our hospital between July 2006 and February 2012 were treated by interventional therapy and the data were analyzed retrospectively.

Objective: To analysis the correlation between the otitis media with effusion and allergic rhinitis in children with adenoidal hypertrophy groups.
Method: Retrospective analysis of cases of adenoidal hypertrophy in children associated with the incidence of otitis media with effusion, with or without allergic rhinitis history, with or without nasal steroid hormone use history information.
Result: In the 287 cases of adenoidal hypertrophy in children cases, does not consider the role of nasal steroid hormones, the incidence of merger cases of allergic rhinitis and otitis media with effusion is 25.
