Background: Acute kidney injury (AKI) resulting from ureteral stones in the emergency department is typically accompanied with anxiety and sleep issues in patients, which can have adverse effects on their mental health and quality of life. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is helpful in improving mental health and sleep. This work aims to analyse the effects of CBT on mental health and sleep of AKI patients caused by ureteral calculi in the emergency department.

Shanghai Key Laboratory of Maternal Fetal Medicine, Department of Fetal Medicine and Prenatal Diagnosis Center, Shanghai First Maternity and Infant Hospital, School of Medicine, Tongji University, Shanghai, 201204, China. Electronic address:

Microplastics (MPs) and nanoplastics (NPs) are widely spreading in our living environment, accumulating in the human body and potentially threating human health. The retina, which is a terminally differentiated extension of the central nervous system, is essential for the visual system. However, the effects and molecular mechanisms of MPs/NPs on retina development and function are still unclear.

Background: Primary hyperparathyroidism (PHPT) is an uncommon disorder characterised by hypercalcemia with an increased parathyroid hormone level. We reported a PHPT familial case with two subjects, a father and a daughter, and both of them had suffered from the brown tumor.

Case Presentation: The proband, a 43-year-old patient, developed parathyroid adenomas at the age of 15; a histologically confirmed right parathyroid adenoma was removed by parathyroidectomy; and after six months follow-up, the serum calcium level was normalised.

Cancer is currently a major public health issue faced by countries around the world. With the progress of medical science and technology, the survival rate of cancer patients has increased significantly and the survival time has been effectively prolonged. How to provide quality and efficient care for the increasingly large group of cancer survivors with limited medical resources will be a key concern in the field of global public health in the future.

The "hotness" or "coldness" of the tumors are determined by the information of the cancer cells themselves, tumor immune characteristics, tumor microenvironment, and signaling mechanisms, which are key factors affecting cancer patients' clinical efficacy. The switch mechanism of "hotness" and "coldness" and its corresponding pathological characteristics and treatment strategies are the frontier and hot spot of tumor treatment. How to distinguish the "hotness" or "coldness" effectively and clarify the causes, microenvironment state, and characteristics are very important for the tumor response and efficacy treatments.

Background And Aim: Small ubiquitin-like modifier (SUMO)-specific protease (SENP)3 is a protease molecule that responds to reactive oxygen species (ROS) with high sensitivity. However, the role of ROS and SENP3 in the formation of nasal polyps (NPs) remains unclear. This study aimed to explore how SENP3 influenced the outcome of chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) by altering macrophage function, that is, the formation of NPs.

Background: Cancer survivors at different stages of life often have different needs that make it challenging for services to provide satisfactory care. Few studies have considered whether services are truly meeting the needs of cancer patients by exploring and identifying their perspectives on unmet needs.

Objective: The aim of this study was to identify the unmet needs of cancer survivors and to further determine the potential impact of socio-demographic factors.

Background: Zinc finger and bric-a-brac/tramtrack/broad (ZBTB) domain-containing proteins have been reported to be associated with many tumors' development. However, in tumor initiation and progression, the role of ZBTB9, one of the protein family, and its prognostic value were yet to be elucidated in Liver Hepatocellular Carcinoma (LIHC).

Methods: We used R software and online bioinformatics analysis tools such as GEPIA2, cBioPortal, TIMER2, Metascape, UALCAN, STRING, TISIDB, and COSMIC to investigate ZBTB9's characteristics and function in LIHC, including abnormal expression, carcinogenic role, related signaling pathways and prognostic value.

Macrophages in the liver have capacities of capturing and phagocytosing nanocarriers. Macrophages also play an important role in the inflammatory microenvironment and in the tumorigenesis, development and progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Several studies have shown that depletion of macrophages is a viable strategy for drug delivery and tumor microenvironment regulation.

We investigated the application of rate-dependent depression (RDD) of the Hoffmann (H) wave as a predictor of treatment efficacy in patients with painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN). General medical information, scales, and nerve conduction data were collected from 73 healthy subjects, 50 subjects with type 2 diabetes and painless DPN, and 71 subjects with type 2 diabetes and painful DPN. The left tibial nerve was stimulated, and RDD was calculated by the decline in amplitude of the third H wave relative to the first one.

Purpose: We present a new technique that allows an intraocular lens to be explanted through the small incisions used in modern cataract surgery.

Methods And Results: The intraocular lens optic is cut into three connected pieces at the 1-mm-wide end with scissors. Then, with the stabilizing counterforce provided by a pair of vitreoretinal forceps through a paracentesis, the middle piece is removed first, followed by the two side pieces connected with haptics flipped over at the connected part.

Colorectal cancer (CRC), a common malignant disease, has the second highest mortality rate among all cancer types. Due to the diversity and heterogeneity of CRC, few effective treatment strategies have been developed in recent years, except for surgical resection. As immunotherapy has become a revolutionary treatment after surgery, along with chemoradiotherapy and targeted therapy, numerous basic research studies and clinical trials have been conducted on CRC.
