Background: The relationship between high sodium intake (HSI) and hypertensive heart disease (HHD) has been confirmed. However, notable regional disparities exist in implementing effective measures to control sodium intake. This study was carried out to estimate the spatiotemporal trends in the burden of HHD attributable to HSI.

Degenerative spinal stenosis is a chronic disease that affects the spinal ligaments and associated bones, resulting in back pain and disorders of the limbs among the elderly population. There are few preventive strategies for such ligament degeneration. We here aimed to establish a comprehensive transcriptomic atlas of ligament tissues to identify high-priority targets for pharmaceutical treatment of ligament degeneration.

This study aimed to determine the function of LINC00511 in Nod-Like Receptor Pyrin Domain 3 inflammasome-mediated chondrocyte pyroptosis via the regulation of miR-9-5p and FUT 1. Chondrocyte inflammatory injury was induced by treating chondrocytes with LPS. Afterwards, the levels of IL-1β and IL-18, the expression of NLRP3, ASC, Caspase-1, and GSDMD, cell viability, and LDH activity in chondrocytes were assessed.

Objective: To evaluate the rabbit modle of frozen shoulder induced by persistent strain injuries and ice compression.
Methods: Twelve clean, healthy male New Zealand rabbits with a mass of (2 500±500) g were selected and randomly divided into a blank group and a control group with 6 rabbits in each group. In the control group, the rabbits were modeled with persistent strain injuries and ice compression, the general conditions of the rabbits and the active and passive activities of the shoulder joint were observed and their body weights were recorded.
Objective: To explore whether Bushen Huoxue Formula (BSHXF) improves the angiogenesis ability of transplanted endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) in endplate and its potential mechanism in delaying intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD).
Methods: BSHXF was analyzed via Ultra-High Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC). Rabbit axial compression lumbar IDD models were constructed and the effects of BSHXF, EPCs, and their combination in IDD were determined by MRI, histological evaluation, TUNEL, and immunofluorescence assays.

Background: Conjunctival melanoma (CM) is a rare, invasive tumor in the eye that readily metastasizes and spreads. Based on some significant clinicopathological information, we aimed to develop a prognostic model to predict the overall survival (OS) of CM patients.
Methods: Data of patients diagnosed with CM from 2000 to 2019 were identified from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database.

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the causal relationship between Atrial Fibrillation (AF) and the risk of Stroke using a Mendelian randomization (MR) approach.
Methods: A two-sample MR analysis was conducted using publicly available genome-wide association study (GWAS) summary statistics data. In this analysis, genetic variants associated with AF were used as instrumental variables to estimate the causal effect.

Background: Intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) is a pathophysiological process that leads to severe back pain or neurological deficits. The Bushen Huoxue Formula (BSHXF) is a traditional herbal remedy widely used to treat diseases related to IVDD. However, its pharmacological mechanism needs further exploration.

Bushen Huoxue formula (BSHXF) has proved as a potential treatment option with great clinical effect. However, comprehensive investigations into its efficacy and safety in conjunction with celecoxib for managing LBP from LDH are lacking.

Alterations in the composition or function of the gut microbiota are associated with the etiology of human diseases. Drug-microbiota interactions can affect drug bioavailability, effectiveness, and toxicity through various routes. For instance, the direct effect of microbial enzymes on drugs can either boost or diminish their efficacy.

Background: Rotator cuff-related shoulder pain (RCRSP) is the most common cause of shoulder disorders. In China, manipulation has been used extensively for the treatment of patients with RCRSP. However, high-quality clinical evidence to support the therapeutic effect of manipulation is still limited.

In recent years, difficult-to-treat rheumatoid arthritis (D2T RA) has attracted significant attention from rheumatologists due to its poor treatment response and the persistent symptoms or signs experienced by patients. The therapeutic demands of patients with D2T RA are not properly met due to unclear pathogenic causes and a lack of high-quality data for current treatment options, creating considerable management difficulties with this patient population. This review describes the clinical challenges associated with disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) and explores contributing factors associated with inappropriate response to DMARDs that may lead to D2T RA and related immunological dysregulation.

As a chronic progressive autoimmune disease, rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is characterized by mainly damaging the synovium of peripheral joints and causing joint destruction and early disability. RA is also associated with a high incidence rate and mortality of cardiovascular disease. Recently, the relationship between lipid metabolism and RA has gradually attracted attention.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) joint inflammation severely affects joint function and quality of life in patients and leads to joint deformities and limb disability. The non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs used in the treatment of RA do not fully control the progression of joint inflammation and bone destruction and have notable adverse reactions. Traditional Chinese medicine formula JuanBiQiangGu Granules (JBQG) are commonly used for the treatment of RA inflammation and delay of bone destruction, but has not been evaluated through high-quality clinical studies.

Methods: 32 New Zealand white rabbits were equally divided into 4 groups as follows: Control group with no operation and compression, Sham operation group with apparatus placement only, 2-week compression group and 4-week compression group with the devices installed and compressed for their preset duration. All groups of rabbits underwent MRI, histological evaluation, disc height index measurement and Microfil contrast agent perfusions to examine the ratio of endplate microvascular channels.

Fatty acid oxidation (FAO) has been proven to be an accomplice in tumor progression. Carnitine palmitoyltransferase 1C (CPT1C), a rate-limiting enzyme in FAO, mainly functions to catalyze fatty acid carnitinylation and guarantee subsequent entry into the mitochondria for FAO in colorectal cancer (CRC). Gene expression data and clinical information extracted from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database show significantly higher expression of CPT1C in patients with metastatic CRC ( =0.

Ferroptosis, a novel type of regulated cell death mediated by iron-dependent lipid oxidation, was discovered a decade ago. Significant progress has been made in our knowledge of ferroptosis and immune dysfunction. This review covers recent advancements in the interaction of ferroptosis and the immune system, with an emphasis on autoimmune diseases.

Metabolic heterogeneity plays a key role in poor outcomes in malignant tumors, but its role in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains largely unknown. In the present study, we aim to disentangle the metabolic heterogeneity features of HCC by developing a classification system based on metabolism pathway activities in high-throughput sequencing datasets. As a result, HCC samples were classified into two distinct clusters: cluster 1 showed high levels of glycolysis and pentose phosphate pathway activity, while cluster 2 exhibited high fatty acid oxidation and glutaminolysis status.

Rheumatoid arthritis(RA) is an autoimmune disease that seriously affects the physical and mental health of patients, but its pathogenesis is still unclear. At present, clinical treatment drugs include conventional synthetic disease modifing anti-rheumatic drugs(csDMARDs), nonsteroid anti-inflammtory drugs(NSAIDs), hormones, small molecule targeted drugs, biological agents, etc. These drugs can relieve the clinical symptoms of most patients with RA to a certain extent, but there are still many limitations, such as drug adverse reactions and individual differences in drug efficacy.
