Granulomatous lobular mastitis (GLM) is a rare and chronic benign inflammatory disease of the breast. Difficulties exist in the management of GLM for many front-line surgeons and medical specialists who care for patients with inflammatory disorders of the breast. This consensus is summarized to establish evidence-based recommendations for the management of GLM.

KMT5A-methylated SNIP1 promotes triple-negative breast cancer metastasis by activating YAP signaling.

Nat Commun

April 2022

Institute of Cancer Neuroscience, Medical Frontier Innovation Research Center, The First Hospital of Lanzhou University, The First Clinical Medical College of Lanzhou University, Lanzhou, 730000, P. R. China.

Smad nuclear-interacting protein 1 (SNIP1) is a transcription repressor related to the TGF-β signaling pathway and associates with c-MYC, a key regulator of cell proliferation and tumor development. Currently, the mechanism by which SNIP1 regulates tumorigenesis and cancer metastasis is unknown. Here, we identify that SNIP1 is a non-histone substrate of lysine methyltransferase KMT5A, which undergoes KMT5A-mediated mono-methylation to promote breast cancer cell growth, invasion and lung metastasis.

Backgrounds And Objectives: Drug-coated balloons (DCBs) have shown promising benefits in improving the outcomes for patients with peripheral artery disease. Several randomized clinical trials have reported that paclitaxel-coated balloon significantly reduce the rates of restenosis and the need for reintervention in comparison with regular balloon angioplasty. Due to the differences in excipients, paclitaxel dose, and coating techniques, variable clinical outcomes have been observed with different DCBs.

Ferroptosis is a cell death process discovered in recent years, highly related to cancer, acute kidney injury, and other diseases. In this study, a pan-renal cancer analysis of ferroptosis-associated genes in renal cancer was performed to construct a multigene joint signature for predicting prognosis in renal cancer patients. First, gene expression profiles were downloaded from the TCGA and GTEx databases to search for genes significantly associated with renal cancer prognosis through differential gene expression analysis, weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA), and survival analysis.

Osteosarcoma is a bone tumor that often affects children, adolescents and young people. Non-coding RNA activated by DNA damage (NORAD) can promote the proliferation of cancer cells in multiple tumors. Thus, the current study set out to explore the role of NORAD derived from extracellular vesicles (EVs) of bone mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) in osteosarcoma.

Background: Whether smoking modifies the associations of diabetes and risk factor management with subsequent risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD), and whether the smoking related CVD risk differs among people with and without diabetes are unclear. This study aimed to examine the associations and interactions of smoking, diabetes, and risk factor management in relation to incident CVD.

Methods: This nationwide, population-based, prospective cohort study of 20 communities from various geographic regions recruited adults aged 40 years or older during 2011-2012.

To explore the characteristics of dynamic balance during the onset of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) and its prediction of residual symptoms after successful repositioning. From January 2018 to August 2019, patients diagnosed with unilateral posterior semicircular canal or horizontal semicircular canal BPPV were consecutively enrolled from five otolaryngology clinics in Shanghai. The dynamic balance function was measured by sensory organization test (SOT) before repositioning maneuver, and the residual symptoms and its duration were followed up from one week to up to three months.

Background: The preoperative nutritional status and the immunological status have been reported to be independent prognostic factors of patients with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC). This study aimed to investigate whether prognostic nutritional index (PNI) + albumin-bilirubin (ALBI) could be a better predictor than PNI and ALBI alone in patients with ICC after radical resection.

Methods: The prognostic prediction evaluation of the PNI, ALBI, and the PNI+ALBI grade was performed in 373 patients with ICC who underwent radical resection between 2010 and 2018 at six Chinese tertiary hospitals, and external validation was conducted in 162 patients at four other Chinese tertiary hospitals.

Biomarkers for early detection of pancreatic cancer are in urgent need. To explore systematic circulating metabolites unbalance and identify potential biomarkers for pancreatic cancer in prospective Chinese cohorts, we conducted an untargeted metabolomics study in subjects with incident pancreatic cancer and matched controls (n = 192) from the China Cardiometabolic Disease and Cancer Cohort (4C) Study. We characterized 998 metabolites in baseline serum and calculated 156 product-to-precursor ratios based on the KEGG database.
