Compared to multiplex PCR assays that are available in the Chinese market, the Acaruiter Respiratory Panel (fluorescent PCR) covers a wider range of pathogens including eight viruses, five bacteria, and , and has high accuracy and effectiveness in the detection of pathogens. This is the first study to evaluate the performance of the Acaruiter Respiratory Panel. This regent may be a promising assay for comprehensive testing for respiratory pathogens from nasopharyngeal swab specimens in Chinese children.

Unlabelled: Children are the future of the world, but their health and future are facing great uncertainty because of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. In order to improve the management of children with COVID-19, an international, multidisciplinary panel of experts developed a rapid advice guideline at the beginning of the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020. After publishing the first version of the rapid advice guideline, the panel has updated the guideline by including additional stakeholders in the panel and a comprehensive search of the latest evidence.

Background: Rapid Advice Guidelines (RAG) provide decision makers with guidance to respond to public health emergencies by developing evidence-based recommendations in a short period of time with a scientific and standardized approach. However, the experience from the development process of a RAG has so far not been systematically summarized. Therefore, our working group will take the experience of the development of the RAG for children with COVID-19 as an example to systematically explore the methodology, advantages, and challenges in the development of the RAG.

Objective: To study whether human amniotic fluid colony derived stem cells (hAFCSCs) are involved in regeneration of injured muscles in mice and to investigate the method and feasibility of hAFCSCs-based cytotherapy in the treatment of injured muscles.

Methods: s Human second-trimester amniotic fluid was collected through ultrasound-guided amniocentesis, hAFCSCs were isolated from second-trimester amniotic fluid and cultured, and the cells at 6th-8th passages were spared. The mRNA was extracted to identify the stem cell related genes by RT-PCR.

Objective: To evaluate the sensitivity of NT-pro-BNP in daunorubicin (DNR) induced myocardial damage by monitoring the level of NT-pro-BNP and myocardial enzymes (CK, CKMB) before and after DNR treatment in childhood acute leukemia (AL) and performing control study.

Methods: Sixty-two cases (total 194 samples) which diagnosed as primary AL were enrolled and had received the conventional chemotherapy. According to the cumulative dose of DNR, they were divided into three groups: cumulative dose ≤ 60 mg/m(2) (group A); cumulative dose 60 - 120 mg/m(2) (group B); cumulative dose > 120 mg/m(2) (group C) and 15 cases with idarubicin (IDA) or mitoxantrone (MXR) as altervative to DNR (group D).

Article Synopsis
  • This study examines how inflammation from adenovirus gene therapy affects acute lung injury (ALI) in mice.
  • Four groups of C57/B6 mice were tested, including a gene therapy group and various control groups, with the impact measured through survival rates, protein activity, and lung fluid analysis.
  • Results indicated that while the adenovirus therapy increased lung protein activity, it also led to heightened sensitivity to oxygen inhalation and reduced survival time, though inflammation effects were temporary.
