Int Med Case Rep J

October 2024

Department of Ophthalmology, Shanghai Bright Eye Hospital, Shanghai, 200336, People's Republic of China.

Introduction: Spontaneous focal hemorrhage of optic disc in peripapillary hyperreflective ovoid mass-like structures (PHOMS) is rare. This study reports the image features of two cases of spontaneous hemorrhage of an optic disc in PHOMS.

Methods: : A 51-year-old woman complained of visual fatigue for 1 week.

Introduction: This study presents a rare case of multiple evanescent white dot syndrome (MEWDS) with atypical electrooculogram (EOG) findings, as well as abnormal en-face images of minimum intensity projection (Min-IP) and the en-face inner segment/outer segment-ellipsoid complex.

Methods: A 25-year-old female patient presented with painless visual impairment and photopsia in her right eye for a duration of two days. Multimodal imaging was employed including color fundus photography (CFP), fundus autofluorescence (FAF), spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT), and optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA), and en-face images of Min-IP and the en-face inner segment/outer segment-ellipsoid complex were performed.

Case Report: Optic Disc Melanocytoma with PHOMS-Minimum Intensity Projection Image.

Int Med Case Rep J

February 2024

Department of Ophthalmology, Shanghai Bright Eye Hospital, Shanghai, 200336, People's Republic of China.

Introduction: Optic disc melanocytoma (ODMC) with peripapillary hyperreflective ovoid mass-like structures (PHOMS) is rare. This study reports a case of the characteristics of multimodal imaging and Minimum intensity projection (Min-IP) images.

Methods: A 25-year-old male patient was referred to our hospital due to the presence of a dark pigmented tumor located in the optic disc area of his left eye.

To analyze the relationships between preoperative ocular parameters and postoperative anomalous vaults, and research their predictive diagnostic value. In this retrospective case series study, 664 eyes from 332 patients underwent posterior chamber phakic intraocular lens (pIOL) implantation at Shanghai Bright Eye Hospital and Wuxi Huaxia Eye Hospital from November 2020 to November 2021. Preoperative ocular parameters, including spherical equivalent, intraocular pressure, horizontal/vertical ciliary sulcus diameters (HCS/VCS), white-to-white diameters (WTW), corneal steep/flat curvature, central corneal thickness, anterior chamber depth (ACD), lens thickness (LT), and axial length were collected.

Purtscher-Like Retinopathy in a Patient of Atopic Dermatitis Associated with Dupilumab Use: A Case Report.

Ocul Immunol Inflamm

July 2024

Department of Ophthalmology, Shanghai Tenth People's Hospital, Tongji University School of Medicine, Shanghai, China.

Purpose: Purtscher-like retinopathy is a rare and vision-threatening eye disease, which is usually associated with acute pancreatitis, autoimmune diseases, and renal failure. We here reported a case of Purtscher-like retinopathy after dupilumab treatment in atopic dermatitis.

Case Report: A 48-year-old woman with a history of severe atopic dermatitis developed ocular manifestations after second exposure to dupilumab.

Purpose: To evaluate the changes of anterior segment and refractive parameters after scleral buckling (SB) surgery for uncomplicated rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) using anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT).

Methods: Thirty-six RRD eyes were consecutively enrolled. Analysis concerned the central corneal thickness (CCT), anterior chamber depth (ACD), anterior chamber volume (ACV), iris-trabecular contact (ITC), angel opening distance (AOD), angle recess area (ARA), trabecular-iris space area (TISA),trabecular iris angle (TIA) and refractive parameters, including average keratometry (AvgK), cylindrical power (CYL), regular astigmatism, asymmetry and high order irregularity (HOI) at baseline and 1 day, 1 month, 2 months, 6 months and 12 months postoperatively.

Visual and patient-reported outcomes of a diffractive trifocal intraocular lens in highly myopic eyes: a prospective multicenter study.

Eye Vis (Lond)

April 2023

Eye Institute and Department of Ophthalmology, Eye & ENT Hospital, Fudan University, 83 Fenyang Road, Xuhui District, Shanghai, 200031, China.

Background: To investigate the visual and patient-reported outcomes of a diffractive trifocal intraocular lens (IOL) in highly myopic eyes.

Methods: Patients with planned cataract removal by phacoemulsification and implantation of a trifocal IOL (AT LISA tri 839MP) were enrolled in the prospective, multicenter cohort study. Patients were allocated into three groups according to their axial length (AL): control group, AL < 26 mm; high myopia group, AL 26-28 mm; extreme myopia group, AL ≥ 28 mm.

Background: Proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) is a blind-causing disease initiated by the activation of retinal pigmented epithelium (RPE) primarily induced by TGF-β families. Migrasome is a recently discovered type of extracellular vesicle related to cell migration.

Results: Here, we used ex vivo, in vitro, and in vivo models, to investigate the characteristics and functions of migrasomes in RPE activation and PVR development.

Significance: We present a unique cause for zonular dehiscence, which provides a pathway for subsequent dislocation of an implanted phakic refractive lens (PRL) into the vitreous cavity.

Purpose: To determine the cause of zonular dehiscence and to avoid similar complications after PRL implantation in the future.

Case Report: A 37-year-old highly myopic patient with refraction of -24.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the changes in transepithelial electrical resistance (TEER) and ion concentrations, and their relationship in TGF-β-induced epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells.

Methods: RPE cell line ARPE-19 was employed and treated with 10 ng/ml TGF-β1 and TGF-β2 to establish the EMT model . The EMT markers fibronectin, N-cadherin, occludin, zona occludens 1(ZO-1) and claudin-19 were investigated by western blot and immunofluorescence.
