Importance: Radioactive iodine (131I or RAI) therapy has long been the standard of care for most patients with differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) after primary surgery. However, no multicenter prospective studies have identified the optimal administered activity and stimulation method for RAI therapy in patients with intermediate-risk DTC.

Objective: To compare the efficacy and safety of recombinant human thyrotropin (SNA001) with thyroid hormone withdrawal (THW) plus 3.

A temperature-independent model of dual calibration standards for onsite and point-of-care quantification analyses via electrophoresis titration chip.

Anal Chim Acta

February 2024

School of Sensing Science and Engineering, School of Electronic Information & Electrical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, 200240, China; School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, 200240, China. Electronic address:

Electrophoresis titration chip (ETC) is a versatile tool for onsite and point-of-care quantification analyses because it affords naked-eye detection and a straightforward quantification format. However, it is vulnerable to changes in environmental temperature, which regulates the electrophoretic migration by affecting the ion mobility and the target recognition by influencing the enzyme activity. Therefore, the quantification accuracy of the ETC tests was severely compromised.

Background: Previous studies of left ventricular diastolic function (LVDF) have focused on the decrease in active and passive diastolic function due to ischemic factors but have not investigated if the decrease in compliance of the coronary arteries that bypass the surface of the heart and travel between the myocardium could cause a constricting effect on the ventricular wall like that caused by myocardial fibrosis.

Methods And Results: 581 patients diagnosed with coronary heart disease (CHD) were divided into A group (patients are the control group), B group (patients with less than 50% coronary artery stenosis), C group (patients with coronary artery stenosis between 50 and 75%), D group (patients with coronary artery stenosis greater than 75%) according to the degree of coronary stenosis. The diastolic function of the ventricle is reflected by applying the relaxation time constant T value, which refers to the time between peak dp/dt and end-diastolic pressure in the left ventricle.

The sensitivity, accuracy, and efficiency of fluorescent particle detection can be improved by purifying the fluorescent-dye-labeled particles. In this study, an in-site model of electrophoretic elution (EE) was developed for the facile and efficient removal of unconjugated fluorescent dyes after labeling reactions, thereby facilitating the sensitive fluorescent imaging of proteins captured by microbeads. First, bovine serum albumin (BSA) and magnetic beads (MBs) were chosen as the model protein and particles, respectively, and an MBs-BSA complex was synthesized by mixing the beads with the BSA solution.

Chiglitazar (Carfloglitazar) is a novel non-thiazolidinedione (TZD) structured peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR) pan-agonist that has shown promising effects on glycemic control and lipid regulation in patients with type 2 diabetes in previous clinical studies. This randomized phase 3 trial aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of chiglitazar with placebo in patients with type 2 diabetes with insufficient glycemic control by strict diet and exercise alone. Eligible patients were randomly assigned to receive chiglitazar 32 mg (n = 167), chiglitazar 48 mg (n = 166), or placebo (n = 202) once daily.

Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer diagnosed among women, and basal-like breast carcinoma (BLBC) has been associated with a more aggressive histology, poorer prognosis, and non-responsiveness to hormone therapy. In the present study, the role and molecular mechanism of circular (circ)_NOTCH3 in the development and progression for BLBC was identified. circ_RNAs array was used to screen the ectopic expression of hsa_circ_0109177 (circ_NOTCH3) in BLBC.

December 2020

University Hospitals Leuven, Department of Trauma Surgery, B-3000 Leuven, Belgium; KU Leuven - University of Leuven, Department of Development and Regeneration, B-3000 Leuven, Belgium. Electronic address:

Management of posterior tibial plateau fractures has gained much interest over the past few years. Fracture morphology, trauma mechanism, and soft-tissue injury have been identified as the key factors determining the treatment strategy and outcome. We provide a rationale for the operative management of posterior tibial plateau fractures by discussing the interplay between fracture morphology, trauma mechanism, and soft-tissue injury.

Metformin effectively treats deletion-caused kidney pathology by upregulating AMPK phosphorylation.

Cell Death Discov

June 2020

Department of Pathology, School of Basic Medical Science, Fudan University, Shanghai, 200032 PR China.

Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is characterized by hamartomatous lesions in multiple organs, with most patients developing polycystic kidney disease and leading to a decline of renal function. TSC is caused by loss-of-function mutations in either or gene, but currently, there is no effective treatment for aberrant kidney growth in TSC patients. By generating a renal proximal tubule-specific gene-knockout ( ) mouse model, we observed that mice developed aberrantly enlarged kidneys primarily due to hypertrophy and proliferation of proximal tubule cells, along with some cystogenesis, interstitial inflammation, and fibrosis.

The inflammatory response in acute pancreatitis (AP) is associated with acinar-to-dendritic cell transition. The CD4 T-cell-mediated adaptive immune response is necessary for pancreatic inflammatory damage. However, the effect of acinar-to-dendritic cell transition on the CD4 T-cell response and the regulatory mechanism remain undefined.

FeO Mesocrystals with Distinctive Magnetothermal and Nanoenzyme Activity Enabling Self-Reinforcing Synergistic Cancer Therapy.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

April 2020

State Key Laboratory of High Performance Ceramics and Superfine Microstructures, Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai 200050, People's Republic of China.

Magnetite (FeO) nanoparticles have been extensively used in noninvasive cancer treatment, for example, magnetic hyperthermia (MH) and chemodynamic therapy (CDT). However, how to achieve a highly efficient MH-CDT synergistic therapy based only on a single component of FeO still remains a challenge. Herein, hollow FeO mesocrystals (MCs) are constructed via a modified solvothermal method.
