Two-dimensional shear wave elastography (2D-SWE) is a non-invasive technique for measuring liver stiffness (LS) and is used to assess the degree of hepatic fibrosis in patients with chronic hepatitis B (CHB). Despite its usefulness, several factors, other than hepatic fibrosis, can affect its diagnostic accuracy. Hepatic steatosis (HS) is a common lesion in CHB that has increasingly been getting attention in the field of disease development; however, its influence on the measurement of LS remains unclear.

A Large-scale, multicenter serum metabolite biomarker identification study for the early detection of hepatocellular carcinoma.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the third most lethal cancer worldwide. The lack of effective biomarkers for the early detection of HCC results in unsatisfactory curative treatments. Here, metabolite biomarkers were identified and validated for HCC diagnosis.

[Analyses of the factors relevant to revision tympanomastoid surgery].

Objective: To analyze factors relevant to revisional tympanomastoid surgery for chronic otitis media(COM).

Methods: The clinical data of 159 patients (159 ears), who exhibited either wet ear or relapsed after the initial operation, and were subjected to revisional tympanomastoid surgery, were retrospectively analyzed in this study. Of those 159 consecutive patients, 85 were males and 74 were females, aged 11-64 years, with a median age of 36 years old.

Analysis of anti-depressant potential of curcumin against depression induced male albino wistar rats.

The present study investigated the antidepressant potential of curcumin in olfactory bulbectomy and forced swimming test models of depression in male albino rats under chronic treatment. The experimental animals were divided into four groups, and curcumin was administered for 45 days. Our results showed that the curcumin significantly reduced olfactory bulbectomy-induced behavioral abnormalities including deficits in step-down passive avoidance, increased activity in the open area and immobility time.

PARP-1-modulated AIF translocation is involved in streptomycin-induced cochlear hair cell death.

Conclusion SM-induced dose- and location-dependent cochlear hair cell death in vitro. AIF might be translocated from mitochondria to nucleus and cytoplasm within SM-treated hair cells. The translocation of AIF might be modulated by PARP-1.
