As the Fontan population grows, understanding successful strategies for ventricular assist device (VAD) support of the failing Fontan circulation is needed. We performed a retrospective analysis of patients with Fontan circulation and systemic VAD support in the Advanced Cardiac Therapies Improving Outcomes Network (ACTION) registry. Competing outcomes and Kaplan-Meier estimated survival methods were used.

Purpose: Denileukin diftitox (DD)-cxdl is a fusion protein comprising diphtheria toxin fragments A and B and human interleukin-2. This phase III, multicenter, open-label, single-arm registrational trial evaluated the efficacy and safety of DD-cxdl in patients with relapsed/refractory (R/R) cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL).
Patients And Methods: In the main study, which followed a dose-finding lead-in, DD-cxdl was administered intravenously daily (5 days; 9 µg/kg/d once daily) every 21 days for up to eight cycles.

Introduction: Due to the chronic nature of kidney disease, the challenges of symptom burden, and reduced mortality and comorbidity, individuals living with the condition experience substantial anxiety and depression. Incorporating the arts into clinical practice is encouraged to promote and support mental health and well-being. The aim of the PAINT project was to undertake an international mapping exercise to identify the current provision of arts programmes in kidney centres for people living with kidney disease.

Introduction: The conflict in Ukraine, ongoing since 2014 and escalating with the Russian invasion in 2022, has unveiled profound challenges in prehospital care essential for the survival and recovery of warfighters and civilians alike, necessitating a detailed examination of the current medical response mechanisms and their effectiveness.
Materials And Methods: This study provides an overview of these challenges and examines how these critical vulnerabilities have impacted the delivery of medical care in war-torn regions. It also explores the role of NATO and its member states in addressing these challenges, focusing on the efforts to standardize prehospital care, enhance training, and foster interoperability among medical services.

Nurses who provide the majority of hands-on care for hospitalized patients are disproportionately affected by the current state of electronic health records (EHRs), and little is known about their lived perception of EHR use. Using a mixed-methods research design, we conducted an in-depth analysis and synthesis of data from EHR usage log files, interviews, and surveys and assessed factors contributing to the nurse documentation burden in acute and critical at a large academic medical center. There remain substantial spaces where we can develop viable solutions for enhancing the usability of multi-component EHR systems.

Hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) uses cytotoxic chemotherapy and/or radiation followed by intravenous infusion of stem cells to cure malignancies, bone marrow failure and inborn errors of immunity, hemoglobin and metabolism. Lung injury is a known complication of the process, due in part to disruption in the pulmonary microenvironment by insults such as infection, alloreactive inflammation and cellular toxicity. How microorganisms, immunity and the respiratory epithelium interact to contribute to lung injury is uncertain, limiting the development of prevention and treatment strategies.

Background: Involving patient and community stakeholders in clinical trials adds value by ensuring research prioritizes patient goals both in conduct of the study and application of the research. The use of stakeholder committees and their impact on the conduct of a multicenter clinical trial have been underreported clinically and academically. The aim of this study is to describe how Study Advisory Committee (SAC) recommendations were implemented throughout the Emergency Medicine Palliative Care Access (EMPallA) trial.

Study advisory committees (SACs) provide critical value to clinical trials by providing unique perspectives that pull from personal and professional experiences related to the trial's healthcare topic. The Emergency Medicine Palliative Care Access (EMPallA) study had the privilege of convening a 16-person SAC from the project's inception to completion. The study team wanted to understand the impact this project had on the SAC members.

Blastic plasmacytoid dendritic cell neoplasm (BPDCN) is a rare hematological malignancy with a poor prognosis and considered incurable with conventional chemotherapy. Small observational studies reported allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantation (allo-HCT) offers durable remissions in patients with BPDCN. We report an analysis of patients with BPDCN who received an allo-HCT, using data reported to the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR).

Purpose: The purpose of this pilot study was to examine perceptions of discrimination among a small cohort of rural older, retired minority Florida farmworkers. Potential sources of discrimination were explored, such as health literacy, age, sex, gender, racial/ethnic background, or rural residency.
Sample: The study occurred in a rural area that is designated as a "hot zone" due to its HRSA designation as a medically underserved area (MUA), health provider shortage area (HPSA), and medically underserved population, despite lying only 50 miles due west of the affluent town of Palm Beach, Florida.

Since 2010, medical toxicology physicians from the American College of Medical Toxicology (ACMT) Toxicology Investigators Consortium (ToxIC) have provided reports on their in-hospital and clinic patient consultations to a national case registry, known as the ToxIC Core Registry. De-identified patient data entered into the registry includes patient demographics, reason for medical toxicology evaluation, exposure agents, clinical signs and symptoms, treatments and antidotes administered, and mortality. This thirteenth annual report provides data from 7206 patients entered into the Core Registry in 2022 by 35 participating sites comprising 52 distinct healthcare facilities, bringing the total case count to 94,939.
