Article Synopsis
  • Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) has a high incidence and mortality rate, and current treatments yield poor prognostic outcomes for patients.
  • *Recent research highlights the potential of methylation modifications as molecular targets in ccRCC, identifying 57 methylation-related genes (MRGs) using data from large cancer databases.
  • *A Methylation-Related Risk Score (MARS) was developed, which showed significant prognostic value and the ability to predict immune responses and treatment outcomes in ccRCC patients, aiding in more personalized treatment strategies.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how the metaverse impacts our lives and identifies factors influencing user acceptance through an integrated model based on flow theory and use and satisfaction theory.
  • A survey gathered responses from 265 participants, employing PLS-SEM to analyze individual variable effects and fsQCA for combined variable effects.
  • Key findings reveal that flow experience, perceived risk, and personal innovation boost acceptance, while perceived cost does not; additionally, specific configurations identified by fsQCA help understand high and low acceptance scenarios.

Halide perovskites have gained considerable attention in materials science due to their exceptional optoelectronic properties, including high absorption coefficients, excellent charge-carrier mobilities, and tunable band gaps, which make them highly promising for applications in photovoltaics, light-emitting diodes, synapses, and other optoelectronic devices. However, challenges such as long-term stability and lead toxicity hinder large-scale commercialization. Computational methods have become essential in this field, providing insights into material properties, enabling the efficient screening of large chemical spaces, and accelerating discovery processes through high-throughput screening and machine learning techniques.

Compressibility characteristics of municipal solid waste considering multiple factors.

Environ Sci Pollut Res Int

July 2024

School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, Hangzhou, 310018, China.

Borehole samples were collected from a municipal solid waste (MSW) landfill in Xi'an, China, and subjected to a series of basic geotechnical and compression tests. This study aims to investigate the influence of composition, dry unit weight, moisture content, organic content, and landfill age on the compressibility of MSW. The results show that with increasing landfill age, the compressible components and organic content exhibit a decreasing trend while the dry unit weight increases.

CAIDE Score, Alzheimer's Disease Pathology, and Cognition in Cognitively Normal Adults: The CABLE Study.

J Alzheimers Dis

June 2024

Department of Neurology and Institute of Neurology, Huashan Hospital, Shanghai Medical College, Fudan University, Shanghai, China.

Article Synopsis
  • - The CAIDE risk score is a predictor of dementia risk, but its relationship with Alzheimer's disease pathology is not well-studied.
  • - A study involving 600 cognitively normal participants found that a higher CAIDE score correlates with increased tau-related AD biomarkers and lower cognitive performance on tests like the MMSE and MoCA.
  • - The findings suggest that tau pathology mediates the effect of the CAIDE score on cognitive performance, indicating that higher dementia risk may contribute to cognitive decline through neurodegeneration.

Postgraduate enrollment expansion policies in China have formed a development system of postgraduate education with an expansion of scale and increase of categories. Taking the institutional equilibrium theory as the prerequisite of assumption, this study evaluates 30 postgraduate enrollment expansion policies using the fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis method (fsQCA method) and explores the matching degree between policy changing path and social development. It is found that path dependence is the main cause and trend of progressive policy change, the construction of the national strategy determines the direction and content of policy change, and the environment induces the abrupt logic and gives early warning to policy change.
