Background: Castrate-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) is an aggressive and lethal disease. The pathogenesis of CRPC is not fully understood and novel therapeutic targets need to be identified to improve the patients' prognosis. MicroRNA-30a (miR-30a) has been demonstrated to be a tumor suppressor in many types of solid malignancies.

It has been well established that the von Hippel-Lindau/hypoxia-inducible factor α (VHL-HIFα) axis and epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) signaling pathway play a critical role in the pathogenesis and progression of renal cell carcinoma (RCC). However, few studies have addressed the relationship between the two oncogenic drivers in RCC. SET and MYND domain-containing protein 3 (SMYD3) is a histone methyltransferase involved in gene transcription and oncogenesis, but its expression and function in RCC remain unclear.

Bone marrow mesenchymal lineage cells are a heterogeneous cell population involved in bone homeostasis and diseases such as osteoporosis. While it is long postulated that they originate from mesenchymal stem cells, the true identity of progenitors and their in vivo bifurcated differentiation routes into osteoblasts and adipocytes remain poorly understood. Here, by employing large scale single cell transcriptome analysis, we computationally defined mesenchymal progenitors at different stages and delineated their bi-lineage differentiation paths in young, adult and aging mice.

Analgesics, particularly opioids, have been routinely used in the emergency treatment of ischemic chest pain for a long time. In the past two decades; however, several studies have raised the possibility of the harmful effects of opioid administration. In 2014, the American Heart Association (AHA)/American College of Cardiology Foundation (ACCF) changed the guidelines regarding the use of opioids from class IC to class IIb for non-ST elevation acute coronary syndrome.

People with reduced esterase D (ESD) activity are susceptible to many diseases. However, how to activate ESD is still unknown. To address the question, we identified that 4-chloro-2-(5-phenyl-1-(pyridin-2-yl)-4, 5-dihydro-1H-pyrazol-3-yl) phenol (FPD5) could be a good candidate activator for ESD activity.

A series of novel 2-arylbenzimidazoles have been designed, synthesized and evaluated for their inhibitory activity against IDH2 R140Q mutant. The preliminary results indicated that four compounds 7b, 7c, 7m and 7r displayed the potent inhibitory activity against IDH2 R140Q mutant. Among them, compound 7c showed the highest inhibitory activity, with the IC value of 0.

Objectives: Interstitial lung disease (ILD) is frequently associated with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and has a large impact on the prognosis of RA, particularly among females, with an increased prevalence and severity compared with that of males. Here, we aimed to investigate the lncRNA profiles in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from middle-aged female patients with RA-ILD to determine whether they could help diagnose RA-ILD.
Method: We collected PBMCs from middle-aged female healthy controls, and RA and RA-ILD patients, excluding those with known risk factors of RA-ILD, such as being elderly or male, smoking, and having a history of other diseases.

At present, natural orifice specimen extraction surgery (NOSES) has attracted more and more attention worldwide, because of its great advantages including minimal cutaneous trauma and post-operative pain, fast post-operative recovery, short hospital stay, and positive psychological impact. However, NOSES for the treatment of gastric cancer (GC) is still in its infancy, and there is great potential to improve its theoretical system and clinical practice. Especially, several key points including oncological outcomes, bacteriological concerns, indication selection, and standardized surgical procedures are raised with this innovative technique.

Background: As important players in cell-to-cell communication, exosomes (exo) are believed to play a similar role in promoting fracture healing. This study investigated whether exosomes derived from bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMMSC-Exos) could improve fracture healing of nonunion.
Methods: BMMSC-Exos were isolated and transplanted into the fracture site in a rat model of femoral nonunion (Exo group) every week.

Background: Emerging evidence has linked autophagy to skin wound healing; however, the underlying cellular and molecular mechanisms remain poorly understood. The present study was designed to determine the role of autophagy in endothelial cell (EC)-mediated skin wound healing in mice.
Methods: Autophagy-related gene (Atg7) in mouse ECs was inactivated by the Cre-loxP system under the control of an EC-specific VE-Cadherin (Cdh5) promoter (Atg7 mice).

Hyperglycemia-induced toxicity of neurons contributes to the pathogenesis and progression of diabetic neuropathy (DNP). High concentration glucose triggered reactive oxygen species (ROS) overproduction and induced cell apoptosis of neurons from dorsal root ganglion (DRG) in vitro. Currently, there is no effective therapeutic method to retard this devastating complication or neurotoxicity induced by high glucose.

Intraductal carcinoma of the prostate (IDC-P) and bone metastasis have been both identified to associate with unfavorable clinical outcome of the prostate carcinoma (PCa). Our objective is to examine whether IDC-P or bone metastasis at diagnostic biopsies was associated with each other and whether they were linked with overall survival (OS) and cancer specific survival (CSS) of Grade Group 5 patients. We retrospectively selected the prostate biopsy specimens of 120 PCa patients with Grade Group 5 from Qilu Hospital of Shandong University between 2012 and 2016.

Objectives: To examine a conceptual model of posttraumatic growth (PTG) with the inclusion of family resilience as a mediator, and social support, individual resilience, maternal care, and family members' intimacy after trauma as protective factors.
Methods: A cross-sectional questionnaire survey was carried out in a sample of 134 college nursing students who had a parent with a non-congenital disability. The Socio-demographic Information Questionnaire, the Chinese version of Perceived Social Support Scale (PSSS), 10-item Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC10), Parental Bonding Instrument (PBI), Family Resilience Assessment Scale (FRAS) and the Posttraumatic Growth Inventory (PTGI) were used to collect data.

The level of hypochlorous acid (HOCl) in cancer cells is higher than that in non-cancer cells. HOCl is an essential signal for the regulation of cell fate and works mainly through the protein post-translational modifications in cancer cells. However, the mechanism of HOCl regulating autophagy has not been clarified.

However, few studies have focused on patients aged 80 years and older. This retrospective study aimed to evaluate the safety and clinical outcomes of CT-guided percutaneous MWA in patients aged 80 years and older with early-stage peripheral NSCLC.

The gene programmed cell death 5 () has recently been characterized as a tumor suppressor gene and is believed to be an important prognostic cancer marker; it is frequently involved in neoplastic transformation and apoptosis of tumor cells. Several studies have demonstrated a decrease or loss of expression of in certain tumors. However, the relevance of expression in human osteoclastoma and its clinicopathological significance have not been extensively studied.

Adult skeletal muscle regeneration after injury depends on normal myoblast function. However, the intrinsic mechanisms for the control of myoblast behaviors are not well defined. Herein, we identified Pim1 kinase as a novel positive regulator of myoblast behaviors in vitro and muscle regeneration in vivo.
