Research has shown that the expression level of microRNA-155 (miRNA-155) is positively correlated with clinical stage and depth of invasion in patients with cervical cancer and cervical intraepithelial neoplasia and tends to be highly expressed. Therefore, it is very important to develop sensitive miRNA-155 analysis methods for the early diagnosis, treatment, and prognostic evaluation of cervical cancer. In this study, a near-infrared light-driven fluorescent biosensor based on the metal-enhanced fluorescence effect of polydopamine-coated upconversion nanoparticle (UP/Au) and two toehold-mediated strand displacement (TMSD) steps was constructed for the detection of miRNA-155.

Methylation of microRNAs (miRNAs) is a post-transcriptional modification that affects miRNA activity by altering the specificity of miRNAs to target mRNAs. Abnormal methylation of miRNAs in cancer suggests their potential as a tumor marker. However, the traditional methylated miRNA detection mainly includes mass spectrometry, sequencing and others; complex procedures and reliance on large instruments greatly limit their application in point-of-care testing (POCT).

In order to remove hexavalent chromium (Cr(vi)) efficiently and simplify the adsorbent preparation process, we employed a single step method to prepare a new biochar supported manganese sulfide material. The nanoscale MnS particles were highly soldered on the biochar support surface, and this adsorbent displayed the effective removal of Cr(vi) (98.15 mg L) synergistic effect between adsorption and reduction/precipitation under weak acid conditions (pH = 5.

Human noroviruses (HuNoVs) are a major cause of epidemic and sporadic cases of acute gastroenteritis worldwide. Recently, human intestinal enteroids (HIEs) have been shown to support the replication of HuNoVs, and be an excellent model to study HuNoV-host interactions. We implemented the HIE system in our laboratory and investigated the global molecular events associated with the mechanism of HuNoV-host interactions.

As an essential amino acid, cysteine is involved in various biosynthetic and metabolic processes, such as protein synthesis, hormone synthesis, and redox homeostatic maintenance. Inordinate cysteine levels are often associated with serious diseases. Thus, designing and synthesizing a novel fluorescent probe for determining the concentration of cellular cysteine, which could indirectly monitor the prevalence of these diseases, is essential.

The phosphoinositide 3-kinase delta (PI3Kδ) has been implicated in multiple signaling pathways involved in autoimmune diseases. We here aimed to test the hypothesis that selective inhibition of PI3Kδ may promote anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting Th1 and Th17 cells. We investigated the therapeutic efficacy of a selective PI3Kδ inhibitor IC87114 in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), a murine model of multiple sclerosis (MS).

Background: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) came out to attract wide attention and had become one of the hotspots of most diseases' research in decades. But at present, the mechanisms of how MSCs work on chronic asthma remain undefined. Our study aims at verifying whether MSCs play a role in preventing inflammation and airway remodeling via PI3K/AKT signaling pathway in the chronic asthma rats model.

Our recent study observed that the expression of Musashi-2 (MSI2), a member of the Musashi family, was up-regulated in hepatitis B virus (HBV) related hepatocellular carcinoma parenchymal cells. Using quantitative PCR, tissue microarray (TMA) and immunohistochemical staining, we evaluated MSI2 mRNA and protein levels in tumor tissues from patients with different stages of hepatocellular carcinoma with paired adjacent noncancerous sample sets. The following techniques were used to further investigate MSI2 function and its potential molecular mechanism: RNAi, wound healing assay, Transwell assay, quantitative PCR and western blot analysis.

Background: Mechanical ventilation using lower tidal volume ventilation with associated hypercapnia is supported to avoid ventilator-induced lung injury, but the underlying mechanism is not clear. This study was intended to explore whether low tidal volume ventilation with associated hypercapnia would ameliorate pneumoperitoneum-induced lung injury and whether this protection strategy might work through mediating inflammation and oxidative stress via TLR 4 signaling pathway.
Materials And Methods: 50 anesthetized Wistar Rats were randomized to be mechanically ventilated for 4 h at 7 groups: Group A, ventilated with 12 ml/kg; Group B, similar to Group A but injected with LPS (Toll receptor 4 agonist); Group C, similar to Group A but injected with Pam3Cys (Toll receptor 2 agonist); Group D, ventilated with 12 ml/kg and subjected to pneumoperitoneum; Group E, ventilated with 6 ml/kg and subjected to pneumoperitoneum; Group F, similar to Group E but injected with LPS; Group G, similar to Group E but injected with Pam3Cys.
