Analysis of stage parameters of low-temperature oxidation of water-soaked coal based on kinetic principles.

Sci Total Environ

October 2024

Shandong Univ Sci & Technol, Coll Safety & Environm Engn, Qingdao 266590, China.

Mine fires caused by spontaneous coal combustion are major disasters in coal mines. The staged oxidation kinetic parameters of various coal samples at oxygen concentrations of 21 %, 15 %, 10 %, 5 %, and 3 % were analyzed using a programmed temperature testing system. Herein, the temperature increase rate of coal, the temperature difference between the furnace and coal, and the oxygen consumption characteristics were obtained.

Shandong Univ Sci & Technol, Coll Energy & Min Engn, Qingdao, People's Republic of China.

The evaluation of grouting effects constitutes a critical aspect of grouting engineering. With the maturity of the grouting project, the workload and empirical characteristics of grouting effect evaluation are gradually revealed. In the context of the Qiuji coal mine's directional drilling and grouting to limestone aquifer reformation, this study thoroughly analyzes the influencing factors of grouting effects from geological and engineering perspectives, comparing these with various engineering indices associated with drilling and grouting.

Experimental models and examination methods of retinal detachment.

Brain Res Bull

April 2021

Second Hosp Jilin Univ, Dept Ophthalmol, 218 Zi Qiang St, Changchun, 130041, PR China. Electronic address:

Retinal detachment refers to the separation of the retinal neuroepithelium and pigment epithelium, usually involving the death of photoreceptor cells. Severe detachment may lead to permanent visual impairment if not treated properly and promptly. According to the underlying causes, retinal detachment falls into one of three categories: exudative retinal detachment, traction detachment, and rhegmatogenous retinal detachment.

UQ Diamantina Inst., Translational Research Inst. Faculty of Medicine, The Univ. of Queensland, 37 Kent Street Woolloongabba, Brisbane, QLD, 4102, Australia.

The production and consumption of coffee are increasing despite the roadblocks to its agriculture and global trade. The unique, refreshing, and stimulating final cupping quality of coffee is the only reason for this rising production and consumption. Coffee quality is a multifaceted trait and is inevitably influenced by the way it is successively processed after harvesting.

Garlic oil suppressed the hematological disorders induced by chemotherapy and radiotherapy in tumor-bearing mice.

School of Public Health, Shandong Univ., 44 Wenhua West Road, Shandong Province, Jinan City, 250012, People's Republic of China.

Although the anticancer effects of garlic and its products have been demonstrated by a variety of studies; however, few studies were conducted to investigate the effects of garlic on the adverse effects of chemo/radiotherapy. In order to clarify the above question and make a more comprehensive understanding of the anticancer effects of garlic, tumor xenograft mice model was established by subcutaneous injection of H22 tumor cells, and was used for the investigation of effects of garlic oil (GO) on the chemo/radiotherapy. In the chemotherapy test, tumor-bearing mice were treated with cyclophosphamide (CTX) or CTX plus GO (25 or 50 mg/kg bw) for 14 d, while the mice received a single 5 Gy total body radiation or radiation plus GO (25 or 50 mg/kg bw) in radiotherapy test.

Dept. of Hygiene Analytical Chemistry, School of Public Health, Shandong Univ., 44 Wenhua West Road, Box 104, Jinan 250012, China.

This article presents an improved method to detect D-glucosamine hydrochloride in health foods. A simple precolumn derivatization procedure with 7-flouro-4-nitrobenzo-2-oxa-1,3-diazole (NBD-F) reagent was employed. The separation of the derivatized D-glucosamine hydrochloride (NBD-D-glucosamine hydrochloride) was performed using a mobile phase consisting of acetonitrile, potassium dihydrogen phosphate (0.

While glucose-stimulated insulin secretion depends on Ca(2+) influx through voltage-gated Ca(2+) channels in the cell membrane of the pancreatic β-cell, there is also ample evidence for an important role of intracellular Ca(2+) stores in insulin secretion, particularly in relation to drug stimuli. We report here that thiopental, a common anesthetic agent, triggers insulin secretion from the intact pancreas and primary cultured rat pancreatic β-cells. We investigated the underlying mechanisms by measurements of whole cell K(+) and Ca(2+) currents, membrane potential, cytoplasmic Ca(2+) concentration ([Ca(2+)](i)), and membrane capacitance.

To establish an animal model with disruptions of atherosclerotic plaques, 96 male apolipoprotein E knockout (apoE(-/-)) mice were randomly divided into stress, lipopolysaccharide (LPS), stress+LPS, and control groups (n = 24 each). All mice were fed a high-fat diet throughout the experiment, and carotid atherosclerotic lesions were induced by placement of a constrictive perivascular collar. Four weeks after surgery, mice in the LPS and stress+LPS groups were intraperitoneally injected with LPS (1 mg/kg twice per week for 8 wk).

[Effects of endothelial cells on renewal and differentiation of neural stem cells].

October 2007

Institute of Developmental Biology, School of Life Science, Shandong Univ., Ji'nan 250100, China.

It is well established that neural stem cells (NSCs) are not randomly distributed throughout the brain, but rather are concentrated around blood vessels. Although NSCs lie in a vascular niche, there is no direct evidence for a functional relationship between the NSCs and blood vessel component cells. It is reported that endothelial cells release soluble factors that stimulate the self-renewal of NSCs, inhibit their differentiation, and enhance their neuron production.

BME RI, School of Control Sci. and Eng., Shandong Univ., Ji'nan 250061, China.

A new transformation method for follow-up coordinate system is used and a matrix equation for transforming spatial transporting coordinate of scattering photons is given. The equation has recursion form and only relates to multiplication and will not lead to overflow in calculation. The equation is applied to Monte Carlo simulation in the light propagation in bio-tissues.

In this research, the influence of the preceding auditor stimulus on the auditory-evoked potential (AEP) of the succeeding stimuli was investigated, when the human subjects were presented with a pair of auditory stimuli. We found that the evoked potential of the succeeding stimulus was inhibited completely by the preceding stimulus, when the inter-stimulus interval (ISI) was shorter than 150 ms. The influence was depended on the ISI of two stimuli, the longer was the ISI, the stronger would be the influence.

Optimal edge-preserving hybrid filters.

IEEE Trans Image Process

October 2012

Dept. of Electron., Shandong Univ., Jinan.

Based on the least mean square error criterion at the edge position, a new algorithm is presented to obtain a class of optimal edge-preserving hybrid filters that include the Lee (1980) additive filter and the gradient inverse weighted filter. As a result, we show that the gain of the Lee additive filter is not optimal and derive the optimal form of this filter. In addition, some examples are given.
