Methylation of microRNAs (miRNAs) is a post-transcriptional modification that affects miRNA activity by altering the specificity of miRNAs to target mRNAs. Abnormal methylation of miRNAs in cancer suggests their potential as a tumor marker. However, the traditional methylated miRNA detection mainly includes mass spectrometry, sequencing and others; complex procedures and reliance on large instruments greatly limit their application in point-of-care testing (POCT).

Recent studies have verified that circRNAs (circular RNAs) play a critical role in glioma occurrence and malignant progression. However, numerous circRNAs with unknown functions remain to be explored with further research. qPCR (quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction) was employed to detect circTIE1 expression in glioma tissues, NHAs (normal human astrocytes), and glioma cellular lines (U87, U118, U251, T98G, LN229).

MOE Key Laboratory of Macromolecular Synthesis and Functionalization, Department of Polymer Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University Hangzhou 310027 China.

Damaged tissue with an open wound is one of the daily injuries and can have different levels of severity. Inspired by the textile dyeing, coloration and skin care effect of pyrogallol-rich red wine, tannic acid-KH561 (TA561) copolymer was fabricated by phenol-silanol reaction and polycondensation of silane in an aqueous medium under mild conditions. This copolymer could undergo sol-gel transition continuous heating or when simply placed at room temperature, during which liquid TA561 oligomers connected with each other to form solid TA561 as a bulk resin or thin film.

To investigate endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress reactions in spinal cord injury rats by evaluating the expression of the glucose-regulated protein 78 (GRP78), C/EBP homologous transcription factor protein (CHOP), X-box binding protein 1 (XBP1), Eif-2α and Bad. SCI models were established using adult female mice. After SCI, the expression of endoplasmic reticulum stress-induced apoptosis proteins were examined in the mice at specific time points using immunohistochemistry and western blot.

Spinal cord injury (SCI) is one of the most devastating diseases. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are recognized as key regulators in SCI; however, the role of miR-223 in SCI remains unclear. Herein, our study aimed to explore the effect of miR-223 on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced injury to PC-12 cells.

Objectives: This study aims to investigate the influence on human hepatocytes apoptosis and autophagy by the hepatitis C virus (HCV) core protein.

Methods: QSG-7701, a human-derived non-neoplastic liver cell line, was transfected with PIRES-core vector that was a eukaryotic vector to express HCV core protein. Fluorescence microscope was used to observe the changes of nuclei in apoptosis cells by Annex in V-FITC/PI double staining.

This study aims to investigate clinical effects of protruding after percutaneous vertebral plasty (PKP holds) for treatment of chronic painful osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (CPOVCFs), and assess its safety and effectiveness. One hundred and eighteen CPOVCFs patients were included, and analyzed and followed up therapeutic effects of PKP holds. All of these patients were divided into NIVC (73 cases) and IVC (45 cases) group.

Background: Methylation of sodium iodide symporter promoter has been reported to increase the incidence of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). In this meta-analysis stratified via methylation of sodium iodide symporter promoter, we evaluate the relationship between methylation of sodium iodide symporter promoter and PTC. The association between methylation with aggressiveness and metastasis potential of PTC is also discussed.

Objective: This study is to investigate the complications and preventive measures of bone cement in percutaneous kyphoplasty for the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures.

Methods: A retrospective analysis of 134 cases of osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture patients treated with percutaneous kyphoplasty, which involved 182 vertebral fractures, was performed. The bone cement-related complications, the reasons causing these complications, and the preventive measures were investigated.
