N6-methyladenosine (mA) is the most common RNA modification and has an important role in normal development and tumorigenesis. The abnormal expression of mA regulators can lead to an imbalance in mA levels in cancer cells, leading to the dysregulated expression of oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes that may contribute to cancer development, patient response to chemoradiotherapy, and clinical prognosis. Recent studies demonstrate that non-coding RNAs are involved in epigenetic modification of both DNA and RNA in tumor cells, and may also affect the development and progression of cancer by targeting mA regulators.

The present study investigated the effects of vacuum sealing drainage (VSD) to improve the therapeutic efficacy in patients with orthopedic trauma (OT) and reduce post-operative infection and lower-limb deep venous thrombosis (DVT) through a retrospective analysis. A total of 76 patients with OT treated at our hospital were selected for observation. The patients were divided into the control group (CG; n=37) and the experimental group (EG; n=39) according to the treatment administered.

Purpose: Elevated plasma D-dimer levels were thought to be associated with decreasing survival in various cancers. The relationship between plasma D-dimer levels and clinicopathology and the optimal D-dimer cutoff as a prognostic predictor has not been determined in patients with upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UTUC). We aimed to investigate the prognostic value of preoperative plasma D-dimer levels as a predictor of patient outcomes in UTUC following radical nephroureterectomy.

Cerebellar ataxia is an atypical presentation of anti-N-methyl-d-aspartate receptor (anti-NMDAR) encephalitis. In patients with anti-NMDAR encephalitis, cerebellar ataxia often develops simultaneously or sequentially with clinical features of demyelinating disorders, paraneoplastic neurologic syndromes, despite unremarkable brain magnetic resonance imagerying (MRI) findings. Herein, we report a patient with anti-NMDAR encephalitis who developed dizziness and gait ataxia as the initial symptoms, simultaneously showing MRI hyperintensities involving the cerebellum, even before manifesting behavioral and cognitive symptoms.

Glucocorticoid-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head (GIOFH) is one of the most common complications of glucocorticoid administration. By chelating Fe , desferoxamine (DFO) was reported to be able to activate the HIF-1α/VEGF pathway and promote angiogenesis. In the present study, we examined whether DFO administration could promote angiogenesis and bone repair in GIOFH.

Objective: To improve conventional chemotherapeutic efficacy, it is significant to identify novel molecular markers for chemosensitivity as well as possible molecules accelerating cell-killing mechanisms. In this study, we attempted to elucidate how MK2206, an allosteric Akt inhibitor, enhances the cisplatin (CDDP)-induced cytotoxicity and apoptosis in testicular cancer.

Materials And Methods: We checked three testicular cancer cell lines for the expression of phospho(p)-Akt and its downstream molecules targets by Western blot.

Several of the thousands of long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) have been functionally characterized in various tumors. In this study, we aimed to explore the function and possible molecular mechanism of lncRNA KTN1 antisense RNA 1 (KTN1-AS1) involved in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). We identified a novel NSCLC-related lncRNA, KTN1 antisense RNA 1 (KTN1-AS1) which was demonstrated to be distinctly highly expressed in NSCLC.

Long intergenic nonprotein-coding RNA 00514 (LINC00514) is upregulated in papillary thyroid cancer and contributes to its aggressiveness. In this study, we thoroughly explored the expression profile, specific functions, and relevant molecular mechanism of LINC00514 in osteosarcoma (OS). Herein, LINC00514 was significantly upregulated in OS tissues and cells, and increased LINC00514 expression was closely correlated with tumor size, TNM stage, and distant metastasis.

Hearing loss is one of the most common sensory disorders in newborns and is mostly caused by genetic factors. Autosomal recessive nonsyndromic hearing loss (ARNSHL) is usually characterized as a severe-to-profound congenital sensorineural hearing loss and later can cause various degrees of defect in the language and intelligent development of newborns. The mutations in gene have been shown to cause DFNB77, a type of ARNSHL.
