Seawater splitting is increasingly recognized as a promising technique for hydrogen production, while the lack of good electrocatalysts and detrimental chlorine chemistry may hinder further development of this technology. Here, the interfacial engineering of manganese dioxide nanoparticles decorated on NiFe layered double hydroxide supported on nickel foam (MnO@NiFe LDH/NF) is reported, which works as a robust catalyst for alkaline seawater oxidation. Density functional theory calculations and experiment findings reveal that MnO@NiFe LDH/NF can selectively enrich OH and repel Cl in oxygen evolution reaction (OER).

In regular biosample cryopreservation operations, dropwise pipetting and continuous swirling are ordinarily needed to prevent cell damage ( sudden osmotic change, toxicity and dissolution heat) caused by the high-concentration cryoprotectant (CPA) addition process. The following CPA removal process after freezing and rewarming also requires multiple sample transfer processes and manual work. In order to optimize the cryopreservation process, especially for trace sample preservation, here we present a microfluidic approach integrating CPA addition, sample storage, CPA removal and sample resuspension processes on a 30 × 30 × 4 mm three-layer chip.

School of Physics, Electrical and Energy Engineering, Chuxiong Normal University, Chuxiong, 675000, China.

In this paper, we discuss quantum friction in a system formed by two metallic surfaces separated by a ferromagnetic intermedium of a certain thickness. The internal degrees of freedom in the two metallic surfaces are assumed to be plasmons, while the excitations in the intermediate material are magnons, modeling plasmons coupled to magnons. During relative sliding, one surface moves uniformly parallel to the other, causing friction in the system.

College of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Materials Science, Collaborative Innovation Center of Functionalized Probes for Chemical Imaging in Universities of Shandong, Key Laboratory of Molecular and Nano Probes, Ministry of Education, Shandong Normal University, Jinan 250014, P. R. China.

As an indispensable member of the reticular material family, metal-carbon-based organometallic frameworks (OMFs) remain largely underexplored, and no chiral OMFs (COMFs) have been reported thus far. Herein, we first report the construction of COMFs from a Pd-isocyanide OMF via nucleophilic addition to the Pd-isocyanide moiety with optically pure amines. The obtained Pd-bis(acyclic diaminocarbene) (Pd-BADC)-derived chiral OMFs display excellent applicability and can be reusable chiral catalysts to highly promote asymmetric Strecker and Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions in a heterogeneous way.

This study aims to determine the changes in the photosynthetic performance of leaves at different leaf positions and their correlation and to screen out the basic tillage methods suitable for improving the yield. The decrease in soil salt content significantly improved the PSII performance index and quantum yield for electron transport of the bottom leaf group, synergistically enhanced the photosynthetic performance of summer maize leaves (especially the bottom leaf group), and enhanced the correlation between the bottom, middle (including the ear leaf), and upper leaf groups. Under subsoiling tillage conditions, the bottom leaves could produce more carbohydrates to meet the normal growth of the root system, promote the photosynthesis of the middle leaf group at the ear position, and increase the nutrient output of the upper leaf group to the female ear in the middle and later stages of maize aging.
