GABA Analogue HSK16149 in Chinese Patients With Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathic Pain: A Phase 3 Randomized Clinical Trial.

Importance: Many patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain (DPNP) experience inadequate relief, despite best available medical treatments. There are no approved and effective therapies for patients with DPNP in China.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of capsules containing γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) analogue HSK16149 in the treatment of Chinese patients with DPNP.

Effect of Educational Intervention on Knowledge and Level of Adherence among Hemodialysis Patients: A Randomized Controlled Trial.

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to assess the impact of an educational intervention on the level of knowledge and adherence to the treatment regimen among hemodialysis (HD) patients as well as to describe the association between these variables.

Methods: In this randomized controlled trial, 160 HD patients at an HD centre of a 2030-bed tertiary teaching hospital in Southern India were randomly assigned into intervention ( = 80, received education and a booklet) and control ( = 80, received standard care) groups. Knowledge and adherence were measured preintervention and postintervention using a validated questionnaire for knowledge and the ESRD-AQ (End-Stage Renal Disease Questionnaire) for the level of adherence.

Construction and Empirical Study of Nursing Quality Evaluation Index System of Hepatobiliary Surgery Based on ERAS Concept.

Objective: To study the index system of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) nursing evaluation, as a basis for the quality evaluation of hepatobiliary care, continue to improve the quality of hepatobiliary care.

Methods: The 300 cases of hepatobiliary surgical diseases treated in our hospital from January 2019 to December 2020 were randomly selected as the subjects of this study. Through clinical trials, two groups of subjects were used, one for the ERAS care group and the traditional care group.

Anaesthesiology in China: A cross-sectional survey of the current status of anaesthesiology departments.

Background: The discipline of anaesthesiology in China has undergone historical changes and development during the past century. However, nationwide comprehensive data on the current status of each hospital department providing anaesthesia care has been lacking since the discipline was first established in China. This information is essential for effective regulation of healthcare policies by both the professional associations and the government health ministry.

An Integrated Strategy for Rapid Discovery and Identification of Quality Markers in Gardenia Fructus Using an Omics Discrimination-Grey Correlation-Biological Verification Method.

Gardenia Fructus (GF), a traditional Chinese medicine of in Rubiaceae family, has the potential to clear heat and purge fire and has been widely used to treat multiple infection-related diseases. However, the quality markers (Q-Markers) of GF have not been revealed comprehensively. In this experiment, the transgenic zebrafish lines, and were used to evaluate two main kinds of traditional efficacies of GF, hepatoprotective and anti-inflammatory effects.

Combined coronary CT angiography with plain scan for diagnosis of ruptured plaque: comparison with optical coherence tomography.

To evaluate the diagnostic efficacy of CCTA + plain scan for ruptured plaques, with optical coherence tomography (OCT) as the reference, and to provide preliminary analysis of influential factors. Patients who underwent CCTA and OCT were retrospectively enrolled. The diagnostic standards for ruptured plaque on CCTA + plain scan were ulcer or intra-plaque dye penetration on CCTA, and a careful review of images from the plain scans to ensure areas of them were not calcification.

A prediction model of delayed graft function in deceased donor for renal transplant: a multi-center study from China.

Background: Kidneys obtained from deceased donors increase the incidence of delayed graft function (DGF) after renal transplantation. Here we investigated the influence of the risk factors of donors with DGF, and developed a donor risk scoring system for DGF prediction.

Methods: This retrospective study was conducted in 1807 deceased kidney donors and 3599 recipients who received donor kidneys transplants in 29 centers in China.

With the aid of 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethane (bpee), a nitrogen-donor ligand and 1,3,5-tris(carboxymethoxy)benzene (HTCMB), a tripodal ether-connector tricarboxylate ligand, two novel transition metal coordination polymers (CPs) have been synthesized via the reaction of Zn(NO)·6HO or Cu(NO)·3HO with the ligands of HTCMB and bpee ligands with similar reactions under slightly distinct temperatures (80℃ for 1 and 120℃ for 2), and their chemical formula are [Cu(TCMB)(bpee)(µ-OH)(HO)]·12nHO (1) and [Zn(TCMB)(bpee)(µ-OH)(HO)]·12nHO (2). Complex 2 can be utilized as a super sensitive fluorescence quenching sensor to determine the Fe ions. The effect of these two compounds on the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) into the cells of vascular endothelial was further explored.

Comparative analysis of first-line treatment regimens for advanced EGFR-mutant non-small cell lung cancer patients with stable brain metastases.

Background: To compare the survival outcomes of first-line treatment regimens for advanced epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-mutant non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with stable brain metastases.

Methods: We conducted a systematic review of available data from randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of first-line treatment regimens of NSCLC patients with stable brain metastases. Progression free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) were extracted and analysed from the RCT subgroups.

Adjuvant chemotherapy could not bring survival benefit to HR-positive, HER2-negative, pT1b-c/N0-1/M0 invasive lobular carcinoma of the breast: a propensity score matching study based on SEER database.

Methods: Based on Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End-Results (SEER) database, we identified original 12,334 HR-positive, HER2-negative, pT1b-c/N0-1/M0 ILC patients, who were then divided into adjuvant chemotherapy group and control group.

"Real world survey" of hydrogen-controlled cancer: a follow-up report of 82 advanced cancer patients.

Advanced cancer treatment is a huge challenge and new ideas and strategies are required. Hydrogen exerts antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects that may be exploited to control cancer, the occurrence and progression of which is closely related to peroxidation and inflammation. We conducted a prospective follow-up study of 82 patients with stage III and IV cancer treated with hydrogen inhalation using the "real world evidence" method.

Synthesis and structure-activity relationships of pyrazolo-[3,4-b]pyridine derivatives as adenosine 5'-monophosphate-activated protein kinase activators.

A series of pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine derivatives were designed, synthesized, and evaluated for their activation activity toward adenosine 5'-monophosphate-activated protein kinase (AMPK). According to the enzyme activity, the pyrazole N-H exposure and para substitution on the diphenyl group were proved to be essential for the activation potency. Compound 17f showed equal activation compared with A-769662.

Identification of Genes Associated With Hirschsprung Disease, Based on Whole-Genome Sequence Analysis, and Potential Effects on Enteric Nervous System Development.

Background & Aims: Hirschsprung disease, or congenital aganglionosis, is believed to be oligogenic-that is, caused by multiple genetic factors. We performed whole-genome sequence analyses of patients with Hirschsprung disease to identify genetic factors that contribute to disease development and analyzed the functional effects of these variants.

Methods: We performed whole-genome sequence analyses of 443 patients with short-segment disease, recruited from hospitals in China and Vietnam, and 493 ethnically matched individuals without Hirschsprung disease (controls).

Effects of resveratrol on the proliferation, apoptosis and telomerase ability of human A431 epidermoid carcinoma cells.

The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of resveratrol on cell apoptosis, ability of telomerase and the human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT) protein expression in human A431 epidermoid carcinoma cells. A431 cells were treated with different concentrations of resveratrol, and the cell appearance was then observed under a microscope. In addition, the cell proliferation was examined using an MTT assay, and the ability of telomerase was detected using telomeric repeat amplification protocol-polymerase chain reaction-ELISA.

There are limitations to the use of single biomarker levels, for example phosphate and tensin homology (PTEN) or vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), in the diagnosis of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). The present study therefore aimed to evaluate the clinical implications of combined detection of multiple biomarkers. The associations between PTEN and VEGF expression status, microvessel density (MVD), and the pathological characteristics of 50 patients with ESCC were determined using χ, analysis of variance, and -tests.

Yes-associated protein regulates the growth of human non-small cell lung cancer in response to matrix stiffness.

The Yes‑associated protein (YAP) transcriptional coactivator is recognized as a crucial regulator of human cancer. However, its involvement in human non‑small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in response to physical cues remains unclear. In this study, substrates with different rigidity were generated in order to evaluate the role of YAP, and its upstream regulators in the Hippo pathway, in the regulation of growth of an NSCLC cell line within particular environments.

[Effect of fast tract surgery on immune and inflammatory reaction of elder patients with colorectal cancer].

Objective: To compare the effect of rapid rehabilitation surgery (FTS) with the traditional operation method on postoperative immune function recovery, inflammatory reaction and the clinical efficacy in elderly patients with colorectal cancer.

Methods: A total of 144 elderly patients (older than 65 years) diagnosed as colorectal cancer in our department from February 2010 to August 2013 were prospectively enrolled in the study. According to the order of admission, patients were randomly divided into the fast track surgery group (72 cases, study group), and the traditional operation group (72 cases, control group).

A pediatric case report and literature review of thelaziosis in China.

Thelaziosis is a zoonosis with regional epidemics, mainly present in oriental countries, with a majority of cases reported from China. We report a pediatric case of thelaziosis and present a literature review of Chinese case reports. The epidemiological features and clinical characteristics of thelaziosis in China are presented.

Disruption of hippocampal neuregulin 1-ErbB4 signaling contributes to the hippocampus-dependent cognitive impairment induced by isoflurane in aged mice.

Background: A prolonged isoflurane exposure may lead to cognitive decline in rodents. Neuregulin 1 (NRG1)-ErbB4 signaling plays a key role in the modulation of hippocampal synaptic plasticity through regulating the neurotransmission. The authors hypothesized that hippocampal NRG1-ErbB4 signaling is involved in isoflurane-induced cognitive impairments in aged mice.

A study of classification of spontaneous intraventricular haemorrhage: a report of 324 cases.

In order to develop a practical classification of spontaneous intraventricular haemorrhage (IVH), a correlation was made between clinical and computed tomographic (CT) factors in 324 patients with IVH between September 1988 and December 1996. Spontaneous IVH was graded according to age, blood pressure, clinical conditions, conscious state on admission, primary site of bleeding, volume of intraparenchymal haematoma, degree of midline shift, degree of hydrocephalus and location of IVH, producing a score up to 20. A score of 0-5 was Grade I, 6-10 Grade II, 11-15 Grade III, 16-20 Grade IV.

Atherosclerotic lesions in the common coronary arteries of ApoE knockout mice.

Objective: The present study describes the distribution of atherosclerotic lesions in the coronary arteries of chow-fed 60-week-old male ApoE(-/-), 17-beta-estradiol-treated ApoE(-/-), and wild-type mice.

Methods And Results: The histologic examination of coronary arteries in 12 ApoE(-/-) and 6 wild-type mice, in contrast to the distribution of atherosclerosis in human coronary arteries, reveals that the major lesions in the mouse are located in the valve sinus, including the origins of the coronary arteries. These retrovalvular lesions either stop abruptly at the orifice of the common coronary artery or extend a short distance onto the arterial trunks.

[Columinescence effect of dysprosium-lanthanum-tiron system and its applicaton].

The columinescence effect of dysprosium-Tiron system by lanthanum was discovered and the characteristics of fluorescence spectra of the system were studied. The effect of the experimental conditions on the fluorescence intensity was defined. By adding suitable amount of lanthanum to dysprosium-Tiron system, the fluorescence intensity can be enhanced by about 40 times.
