Department of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Jinan Central Hospital, Cheeloo Colleage of Medicine, Shandong University, Jinan, Shandong 250013, PR China. Electronic address:

We attempted to investigate the relationship between hsa-let-7c and ANP32E, as well as their influence on the cells phenotype of lung adenocarcinoma. Expression of hsa-let-7c and prognostic values were assessed by bioinformatics analysis based on TCGA database. Quantitative real-time PCR and western blot was employed to measure relative expression of hsa-let-7c or ANP32E.

The present study aimed to ascertain the potential roles and mechanisms of action of micro (mi)RNA‑22 in ischemic stroke. The results indicated that miRNA‑22 expression was downregulated in ischemic stroke rats model, compared with a control group. The downregulation of miRNA‑22 upregulated the expression of inflammatory factors [including tumor necrosis factor‑α, interleukin (IL)‑1β, IL‑6 and IL‑18].

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigated the effects of dehydrocostus lactone on BON-1 cancer cells, focusing on its ability to reduce cell growth and explore the underlying mechanisms.
  • Various techniques such as MTT assays, fluorescence microscopy, and flow cytometry were used to assess cytotoxicity, cellular changes, and apoptosis induced by the compound.
  • The findings revealed that dehydrocostus lactone significantly inhibited BON-1 cell proliferation in a time and concentration-dependent manner, leading to mitochondrial dysfunction, apoptosis, and cell cycle arrest, suggesting its potential in treating gastrinoma cancer.

The miR-200 family suppresses epithelial-mesenchymal transition by inhibiting ZEB1 and ZEB2 mRNA translation in several types of cancers. Kindlin-2 is a target gene of miR-200b and its expression level correlates positively to ZEB2 in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Whether Kindlin-2 and ZEB2 share a competitive endogenous RNAs regulatory network in OSCC remains unclear.

Purpose: Myocardial infarction is a major cause of mortality and heart failure worldwide. One of the most effective methods of this injury is direct delivery of cardioprotective drugs to ischemia-reperfusion (IR) myocardium. The aim of the present study was to fabricate an adenosine (Ade) prodrug-based, atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP)-modified nanosystem for the treatment of myocardial infarction.

Esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) is a common cancer in China and certain other parts of the world with a dismal prognosis for affected patients. AXL is a member of the TYRO3-AXL-MER family of receptor tyrosine kinases, and has been revealed to be an important mediator of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in several types of cancer. However, to the best of our knowledge, its function in EMT in ESCC cells has not yet been examined.

Osteosarcoma is the most common type of primary bone cancer in children and adolescents, but its mechanism remains unclear. Musashi RNA-binding protein 1 (MSI1) is highly expressed in certain cancer types and functions as a putative progenitor/stem cell marker. In the present study, it was demonstrated that MSI1 expression in osteosarcoma tissue was higher compared with in the paraneoplastic tissue samples.

Purpose: Topical anesthesia analgesic therapy has diverse applicability in solving the barrier properties of skin and unfavorable physicochemical properties of drugs. Lidocaine (LID) combined with prilocaine (PRI) has been used as a topical preparation for dermal anesthesia for treatment of conditions such as paresthesia.

Materials And Methods: In this study, for combination anesthesia and overcoming the drawbacks of LID and PRI, respectively, LID- and PRI-loaded solid lipid nanoparticles (SLNs) and nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) were prepared and characterized by determination of their particle size, drug loading capacity, stability, in vitro drug release behavior and in vitro cellular viability.

Budd‑Chiari syndrome (BCS) is an uncommon disease characterized by the occlusion or obstruction of hepatic venous outflow. The mechanism of BCS is still unclear and there are no accurate and effective diagnostic or therapeutic tools. In the present study, blood samples from BCS patients and healthy controls were used for RNA‑sequencing.

The aim of the present study was to identify the key genes associated with osteosarcoma (OS) using a bioinformatics approach. Microarray data (GSE36004) was downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus database, including 19 OS cell lines and 6 normal controls. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in the OS cell lines were identified using the Limma package, and differentially methylated regions were screened with methyAnalysis in R.

Epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), a polyphenol in green tea, is an effective antioxidant and possesses neuroprotective effects. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and cyclic AMP response element-binding protein (CREB) are crucial for neurogenesis and synaptic plasticity. In this study, we aimed to assess the protective effects of EGCG against sevoflurane-induced neurotoxicity in neonatal mice.

Determination of total selenium in food samples by d-CPE and HG-AFS.

Food Chem

July 2017

School of Public Health, Guangdong Pharmaceutical University, Guangzhou, Guangdong 510310, China. Electronic address:

A dual-cloud point extraction (d-CPE) procedure was developed for the simultaneous preconcentration and determination of trace level Se in food samples by hydride generation-atomic fluorescence spectrometry (HG-AFS). The Se(IV) was complexed with ammonium pyrrolidinedithiocarbamate (APDC) in a Triton X-114 surfactant-rich phase, which was then treated with a mixture of 16% (v/v) HCl and 20% (v/v) HO. This converted the Se(IV)-APDC into free Se(IV), which was back extracted into an aqueous phase at the second cloud point extraction stage.

To achieve lung cancer gene therapy, nanocarriers decorated with different ligands were used. Surface decoration and nanoparticulate system will assist in targeting the gene to specific cells and tissues, such as cancers and diseased organs. The aim of this research was to develop a dual ligand-decorated nanocarriers, which could target the tumor cells through receptor-mediated pathways to increase the uptake of genetic materials.
