The sensitive and accurate detection of copper ions is crucial for public health, medical research, and environmental monitoring. In this study, we developed a sensor based on template-assembly activation of the primer exchange reaction (PER) for the on-site detection of copper ions in blood. Copper ions triggered the assembly of two template fragments into a hairpin structure via a click-chemistry reaction, activating the PER.

College of Food Science and Engineering, Northwest A&F University, Yangling 712100, China. Electronic address:

Salmonella exhibits extensive genetic diversity, facilitated by horizontal gene transfer occurring within and between species, playing a pivotal role in this diversification. Nevertheless, most studies focus on clinical and farm animal isolates, and research on the pangenome dynamics of Salmonella isolates from retail stage of the animal food supply chain is limited. Here, we investigated the genomes of 950 Salmonella isolates recovered from retail chicken and pork meats in seven provinces and one municipality of China in 2018.

Objective: This study aimed to further elucidate the mechanism of ginsenoside Rg1 in the treatment of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion.

Methods: In this study, we observed the apoptosis of RM cells (microglia) after oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation (OGD/R) modeling before and after Rg1 administration, changes in mitochondrial membrane potential, changes in the content of Reactive oxygen species (ROS) and inflammatory vesicles NLR Family Pyrin Domain Containing 3 (NLRP3), and the expression levels of autophagy-related proteins, inflammatory factors, and apoptosis proteins. We further examined the pathomorphological changes in brain tissue, neuronal damage, changes in mitochondrial morphology and mitochondrial structure, and the autophagy-related proteins, inflammatory factors, and apoptosis proteins expression levels in CI/RI rats before and after administration of Rg1 in vivo experiments.

Mitochondrial dysfunction plays a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease (PD). As a mitochondrial governor, voltage-dependent anion channel 1 (VDAC1) is critical for cell survival and death signals and implicated in neurodegenerative diseases. However, the mechanisms of VDAC1 regulation are poorly understood and the role of tripartite motif-containing protein 31 (TRIM31), an E3 ubiquitin ligase which is enriched in mitochondria, in PD remains unclear.

Currently, fluorescent "turn-on" lateral flow assay (FONLFA) has shown enhanced "naked eye" detection sensitivity for small molecules, while it is urgent to adopt biocompatible fluorescent nanomaterials and needs new strategies to simplify the preparation process. In this study, a highly effective method was proposed to produce FONLFA strips for the detection of small molecules. The gold-silver nanoclusters (AuAgNCs) were immobilized onto the nitrocellulose membrane of the strips by the self-assembly of poly(sodium 4-styrenesulfonate), antigen, and AuAgNCs.

In this work, a novel 3D-DNA walker signal amplification strategy was designed to construct a fluorescent aptasensor for the detection of kanamycin (KAN). The aptasensor utilizes split aptamers for the synergistic recognition of KAN. The presence of KAN induces the split aptamers recombination to form the Mg-DNAzyme structure, which is activated by Mg to drive the 3D-DNA walker process for cascading signal amplification.

Horizontal gene transfer has been demonstrated to be an important driver for the emergency of multidrug-resistant pathogens. Recently, a transferable gene cluster of the resistance-nodulation-division (RND) superfamily was identified in the plasmids of animal-derived strains, with a higher efflux capacity for various drugs than the AcrAB-TolC homolog system. In this study, we focused on the differences in the inner membrane pump of these two systems and identified some key residues that contribute to the robust efflux activity of the TMexCD1 system.
