Geographic and socioeconomic disparities in mortality burden attributable to long-term exposure to NO across 231 cities in China from 2015 to 2019.

Research on geographic and socioeconomic disparities of NO attributed mortality burden is limited. This study aims to quantify the geographic and socioeconomic differences in the association between long-term exposure to NO and mortality burden in China. We estimated the all-cause mortality burden of adults over 16 years old attributable to NO exposure above 10 µg/m for 231 Chinese cities from 2015 to 2019, and geographic and socioeconomic differences .

New insights into SUMOylation and NEDDylation in fibrosis.

Fibrosis is the outcome of any abnormal tissue repair process that results in normal tissue replacement with scar tissue, leading to persistent tissue damage and cellular injury. During the process of fibrosis, many cytokines and chemokines are involved, and their activities are controlled by post-translational modifications, especially SUMOylation and NEDDylation. Both these modifications entail a three-step process of activation, conjugation, and ligation that involves three kinds of enzymes, namely, E1 activating, E2 conjugating, and E3 ligase enzymes.

Efficacy analysis of electroacupuncture plus TDP in the treatment of peripheral facial paralysis: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

Objective: This study intends to carry out a systematic review and meta-analysis of electroacupuncture combined with TDP in the treatment of peripheral facial paralysis.

Methods: CNKI, VIP, Wanfang, PubMed, Embase and Cochrane databases were searched for literatures on randomized or quasi-randomized controlled trials of electroacupuncture combined with TDP in the treatment of peripheral facial paralysis, and the references of the included studies were searched. Meta-analysis was performed using Stata15.

Objective: This systematic review and meta-analysis aims to investigate the effectiveness and safety of acupuncture and moxibustion in managing perioperative anxiety during gynecological surgery.

Methods: Relevant studies published from the establishment of the databases to March 20, 2023, were searched in PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science, CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, and CBM. Literature screening and data extraction were independently conducted by two investigators.

Breast cancer is one of the most prevalent cancers in women globally. Its treatment and prognosis are significantly influenced by the tumor microenvironment and tumor heterogeneity. Precision therapy enhances treatment efficacy, reduces unwanted side effects, and maximizes patients' survival duration while improving their quality of life.

Exploring depressive symptoms and coping strategies in Chinese women facing infertility: A cross-sectional observational study.

Infertility can lead to significant psychological distress among women, yet the roles of hope and resilience in mitigating depressive symptoms remain inadequately explored, particularly within the Chinese context. We performed a cross-sectional observational study to investigate the psychological impacts of infertility among Chinese women as well as to discern whether hope and resilience can influence their depressive symptoms. We recruited 364 Chinese women seeking infertility treatment in the Shandong region.

Influence of the glutamate-glutamine cycle on valproic acid-associated hepatotoxicity in pediatric patients with epilepsy.

Introduction: Although valproic acid is generally well tolerated, hepatotoxicity is a common side effect in patients receiving long-term treatment. However, the mechanisms underlying valproic acid-associated hepatotoxicity remain elusive.

Methods: To investigate the mechanisms and explore the potential risk factors for valproic acid-associated hepatotoxicity, 165 age-matched pediatric patients were recruited for laboratory tests and glutamate-glutamine cycle analysis.

Metabolite identification and excretion of pinocembrin-7-O-β-D-glucoside in rats by UHPLC/MS.

Pinocembrin-7-O-β-D-glucoside (PCBG) isolated from Penthorum chinense Pursh was proven to display a wide range of pharmacological effects including hepatoprotection, anti-hepatoma and antifungal activities, etc. The research aims to qualitatively analyze the metabolites of PCBG in rat plasma, urine, bile and feces, and further perform the excretion study of PCBG and its major metabolite pinocembrin (PCB). Fifteen rats were divided into three groups (n=5 for each group) for blood, bile, urine and feces collection, respectively.

Development and validation of an HILIC/MS/MS method for determination of nusinersen in rabbit plasma.

A hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (HILIC/MS/MS) method was developed and validated for the quantitative analysis of the fully phosphorothioate modified oligonucleotide nusinersen. HILIC/MS/MS method is more robust and compatible with mass spectrometry than ion pair reversed-phase liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (IP-RP-LC/MS/MS). Various types and concentrations of additives and different pH of mobile phase affected the mass spectrometry response, chromatographic peak shape and retention of nusinersen.

There have been no relevant reports on developing a LC-MS method for the determination of nusinersen by optimizing mobile phase composition. Objective To explore the protective mechanism of transdifferentiation of glomerular endothelial cells based on the differentiated embryonic chondrocyte gene 2 (DEC2) via the TGF-β/ROCK1 signaling pathway. Methods The 24 mice were randomly divided into sham group, UUO group, UUO combined with vector group and UUO combined with DEC2 group, with 6 mice in each group. A unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO) model was established in each group, except for the sham group.

Assessing the impact of the 2018 tetanus guidelines on knowledge and practices of emergency physicians in trauma patients: a national survey study.

Background: Tetanus remains a significant public health issue in China, with the approach of anti-tetanus prophylaxis in the emergency department resulting in both overuse, particularly of human tetanus immune globulin (TIG), and underuse with the tetanus vaccine. This is largely due to the absence of updated guidelines on tetanus prophylaxis before 2018. Our study aimed to evaluate the effects of the 2018 Chinese tetanus guidelines on the knowledge and practices of emergency physicians about tetanus prevention in trauma patients.

Meroterpenoids from Daphne genkwa shows promising in vitro antitumor activity via inhibiting PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway in A549 cells.

Phytochemical investigation into the leaves and branches of Daphne genkwa afforded 25 meroterpenoids (1-16) including nine pairs of enantiomers (1a/1b-8a/8b and 12a/12b), among which 20 compounds have been reported in the present work for the first time. The structures with absolute configurations of the new molecules (excluding 10-13) were established via comprehensive spectroscopic analyses especially electronic circular dichroism (ECD) and Mosher's methods. A preliminary in vitro cell viability assay revealed remarkable cytotoxicities of selective compounds against A549 (lung), Hela (cervical), MDA-MB231 (breast) and MCF-7 (breast) cancer cells, and compound 8a showed the best inhibitory activity with IC values in the range of 3.

Methods: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on clinical efficacy of CHD angina pectoris with interaction of phlegm and blood stasis were searched in PubMed, Springer, the Cochrane Library and Chinese-language databases China National Knowledge Infrastructure, China Science and Technology Journal Database, and Wanfang Data from their inception to December 2021. Literature was screened and literature bias risk was assessed by RevMan5.

The interaction effects between exposure to ambient PM and economic development on the settlement intention for floating population in China.

Limited studies examined the interaction effects between exposure to ambient PM and economic development on the settlement intention of floating population. We used binary logistic model to examine the association of PM, per capita GDP (PGDP), PM [Formula: see text] PGDP on the settlement intention. Additive interaction term of PM and PGDP level was used to investigate their interactive effects.

Association between exposure to ambient PM and the health status in the mobile population from 338 cities in China.

There are limited studies investigating the relationship between exposure to PM and the health status among the mobile population. A cross-sectional analysis was performed in a nationally representative sample (2017 China Migrants Dynamic Survey data) consisting of 169,469 mobile population. The ordered logistic regression model was used to examine the association between PM and the health status in mobile population.
