Department of Medical Oncology, Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, State Key Laboratory of Oncology in South China, Guangdong Provincial Clinical Research Center for Cancer, Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, China; Research Unit of Precision Diagnosis and Treatment for Gastrointestinal Cancer, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Guangzhou, China. Electronic address:

Background: The interim analysis of the randomized phase 3 ESCORT-1st study demonstrated significantly longer overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) for camrelizumab-chemotherapy than placebo-chemotherapy in untreated advanced/metastatic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). Here, we present the final analysis of this study and investigate potential indicators associated with OS.

Methods: Patients were randomized 1:1 to receive camrelizumab (200 mg) or placebo, both in combination with up to six cycles of paclitaxel (175 mg/m) and cisplatin (75 mg/m).

Department of Radiation Oncology, Shandong Cancer Hospital Affiliated with Shandong University, Shandong Academy of Medical Science, Jinan, People's Republic of China

Despite the promising efficacy of immunotherapy in some patients, many other patients are resistant. The synergistic effect of radiotherapy (RT) in combination with immunotherapy reported in case reports and clinical trials has piqued the interest of radiologists in investigating the underlying mechanisms and efficacy of the combination in preclinical and clinical trials. To date, the reported data are limited to small-sized samples, trials lacking a comparison arm, and trials using diverse immunotherapies, various radiation doses, and fractionations.

Objective: To evaluate the incidental coverage dose to the internal mammary nodes (IMN) in patients treated with postmastectomy radiotherapy (PMRT) and its relationship with the treatment plan.

Patients And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 138 patients undergoing PMRT and divided them into three groups: three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3D-CRT), field-in-field forward intensity-modulated radiotherapy (F-IMRT), and inverse intensity-modulated radiotherapy (I-IMRT). The IMN were contoured according to the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group consensus and not included in the planning target volume.

Background: Invasive pituitary adenomas often recurred after postoperative radiotherapy and are difficult to treat. Temozolomide is an alkylating cytostaticum and has been reported to reduce pituitary tumor size and hormone hypersecretion. However, this is far from enough.

Label-free and stable serum analysis based on Ag-NPs/PSi surface-enhanced Raman scattering for noninvasive lung cancer detection.

Shandong Province Key Laboratory of Medical Physics and Image Processing Technology, School of Physics and Electronics, Shandong Normal University, Jinan 250014, China.

Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) has a broad application prospect in the field of tumor detection owing to its ultrahigh detective sensitivity. However, SERS analysis of serum remain a challenge in terms of repeatability and stability due to the maldistribution of the silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs)-serum. With the aim to make up for this shortcoming, we report a new method for obtaining stable serum Raman signals utilizing the ordered arrays of pyramidal silicon (PSi) and Ag-NPs.

Background: The study was conducted to investigate the clinicopathological features and prevalence of ROS1 gene fusion in Chinese patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Methods: The presence of ROS1 fusion was assessed by quantitative real-time PCR. Associations between ROS1 fusion and clinical characteristics were analyzed.

There is no consensus on the indication for postmastectomy radiotherapy (PMRT) in breast cancer patients with one to three positive lymph nodes. To identify patients for whom PMRT may be indicated, we used a prognostic score model with the SEER database to retrospectively analyze 8049 patients with one to three positive lymph nodes who underwent mastectomy with or without PMRT between 2010 and 2013. Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that PMRT patients had better overall survival (OS) than no-PMRT patients ( < 0.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the incidence of nodal skip metastasis (NSM) to identify the risk factors that influence NSM and to assess the prognostic value of NSM in patients with thoracic esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC).

Patients And Methods: Between January 2009 and December 2013, 285 patients with ESCC with positive lymph nodes who underwent complete resection were enrolled.

Results: For the entire group, NSM occurred in 32.

BACKGROUND Laryngeal cancer is a malignant head and neck tumor with high morbidity and high mortality in humans. Recently, treatments with Chinese medicines and their extracts have gradually received great attention, and studies suggest that Boschniakia rossica polysaccharide (BRP) has potential anti-tumor activity. Therefore, this study investigating the role of BRP in inducing apoptosis in human laryngeal carcinoma cells.
