Metal-containing nanoparticles (MNPs) ubiquitously exist in the environment and organisms, playing distinct roles in the fate and toxicity of metals. However, the extraction and analysis of the MNPs in biological samples is still a great challenge and the interferences of other metal species and complex matrices remains unclear. In this work, we established a method for efficient extraction and accurate analysis of MNPs in biological samples to eliminate the interference caused by metal ions and biological matrices based on the alkali extraction and single particle mode inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (SP-ICP-MS).

November 2024

Key Laboratory for Applied Technology of Sophisticated Analytical Instruments of Shandong Province, Shandong Analysis and Test Center, Qilu University of Technology (Shandong Academy of Sciences), Jinan 250014, China.

Gastrodiae Rhizoma (GE), a popular food in China, is stored and consumed after steaming, which can lead to the degradation of active substances and a decrease in its quality. Therefore, this study explored the potential application of ultra-high-pressure (UHP)-assisted hot air drying in improving the quality of GE. The results indicated that UHP pre-treatment could preserve the original cross-sectional color of GE and increase the degrees of freedom of water in GE samples.

November 2024

Department of Nephrology, Minda Hospital Affiliated to Hubei Minzu University, Hubei Clinical Research Center for Kidney Disease, Hubei Minzu University, Enshi, Hubei, China.

Signal transducer and activator of transcription 4 (STAT4) is a member of the STAT family, which is a group of transcription factors that regulate cytokine signaling. Genetic polymorphisms in STAT4 strongly influence immune responses and disease outcomes, especially in cancer and autoimmune diseases. Several studies have indicated that certain STAT4 gene variants are associated with alterations in STAT4 expression and/or activity and that there is a close relationship between STAT4 polymorphisms and drug efficacy.

Hydrodynamic Fluidic Pump Empowered Sensitive Recognition and Active Transport of Hydrogen Peroxide in 1D Channels.

Adv Sci (Weinh)

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Colloid and Interface Chemistry, Ministry of Education, Shandong University, Jinan, 250100, China.

Through synthetic chemistry, the development of molecular devices for the precise selective recognition and active transport of small molecules stands as one of the most ambitious objectives in extensive medical, environmental, and biological applications. The periodical channels of the metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) with excellent chemical affinity offer vast regulatory space for reaching this goal. Herein, by post-modifying fluorescent probes and ionic liquid molecules into the Zr-MOFs (NU-1000), a donor-acceptor (D-A) system within the periodical 1D channels is created to construct a hydrodynamic fluidic pump within the abundant 1D channels.

Cardiorenal fibrosis is a common feature of chronic cardiovascular disease and recent data suggests that cytokines and chemokines may also drive fibrosis. Here we tested the hypothesis that CXCR7, a highly conserved chemokine receptor, contributes to cardiac and renal fibrosis. We generated an anti-mouse CXCR7-specific monoclonal antibody (CXCR7 mAb) and tested its anti-fibrotic actions in cardiorenal fibrosis induced using the deoxycorticosterone acetate/uni-nephrectomy (DOCA-UNX) model.
