GnRH agonist early follicular challenge test as a predictor of ovarian response in antagonist cycles for fertility preservation.

Sci Rep

June 2024

IVF Unit, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Shamir Medical Centre, Tzrifin, affiliated with the Faculty of Medical and Health Science, Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv, Israel.

The aim of our study was to evaluate if the response to follicular GnRH agonist (GnRHa) trigger be used to predict intracycle ovarian response in GnRH antagonist cycles among women undergoing fertility preservation IVF. We conducted a prospective study of 146 GnRH antagonist oocyte pickup (OPU) cycles to evaluate GnRHa stimulation test (GAST). On day 2 of the cycle, basal E2 were measured, followed by injection of 0.

Follicular challenge test to predict suboptimal response to gonadotropin releasing hormone agonist trigger in elective oocyte cryopreservation cycles.

Sci Rep

March 2024

IVF Unit, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Shamir Medical Centre, Affiliated with the Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University, Tzrifin, Israel.

This prospective study aimed to test the ability of follicular GnRH agonist challenge test (FACT) to predict suboptimal response to GnRH agonist trigger, assessed by LH levels post ovulation trigger in non-medical oocyte cryopreservation program. The study included 91 women that underwent non-medical fertility preservation. On day two to menstrual cycle, blood tests were drawn (basal Estradiol, basal FSH, basal LH, Progesterone) and ultrasound (US) was performed.

Low back pain (LBP) is a major cause of discomfort and disability. Physicians' attitudes and beliefs influence the way patients with LBP are diagnosed and treated. The objective of the study is the assessment of military primary care physicians' attitudes towards LBP and the effect of an enhanced transtheoretical model intervention (ETMI) workshop on them.

Article Synopsis
  • The manuscript discusses the controversial use of COVID-19 convalescent plasma (CCP) for treating patients and suggests that early administration before hospital admission could be beneficial.
  • A questionnaire was sent to members of the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT) to gather information on existing trials and practices related to early/outpatient CCP transfusions across various countries.
  • Results showed participation from 31 countries, revealing several trials on early CCP use, yet many countries face barriers like legislation and insufficient resources that hinder the implementation of out-of-hospital transfusion programs.

A prehospital scoring system for predicting the need for emergent blood product transfusion.

Transfusion

July 2021

The Trauma and Combat Medicine Branch, Surgeon General's Headquarters, Israel Defense Forces, Ramat Gan, Israel.

Background: Several tools have been proven to predict the need for massive transfusion in trauma casualties, yet tools that are easily applicable in the prehospital setting for predicting the need for any blood product transfusion in the emergency department (ED) are lacking.

Methods: A retrospective analysis of the cross-referenced Israeli Defense Forces Trauma Registry and the Israeli National Trauma Registry databases was performed to identify predictors for any blood product transfusion in the ED. A scoring system was developed after internally validating the prediction model.

Background: The safety and efficacy of oral immunotherapy for tree nut allergy has not been demonstrated to date, and its effectiveness is complicated by the high prevalence of co-allergies to several nuts. This study aimed to investigate the use of walnut oral immunotherapy in the desensitisation of walnut and additional tree nuts in patients who are co-allergic to several nuts.

Methods: In a single-centre, prospective cohort study (the Nut Co-Reactivity ACquiring Knowledge for Elimination Recommendations study) at the Institute of Allergy, Immunology, and Paediatric Pulmonology at the Yitzhak Shamir Medical Centre, we recruited patients aged 4 years or older who were allergic to walnut, with or without co-allergy to pecan, hazelnut, and cashew.
