We treated a patient with a postoperative local recurrence of gallbladder cancer who showed a long-term response to low-dose 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) and cisplatin (CDDP) therapy. A 60-year-old woman was diagnosed with advanced gallbladder cancer, for which she underwent an extended cholecystectomy, bile duct resection and a partial resection of the duodenum in March 2000. The pathological diagnosis was well differentiated tubular adenocarcinoma of si, ly1, v1, hinf2, binf2, n0.

Serous effusion is a rare complication of chronic myelomonocytic leukemia. We present a patient with chronic myelomonocytic leukemia who developed a massive pericardial effusion with cardiac tamponade as early manifestations. Numerous clumps of monocytes were observed in the effusion.

Seventeen consecutively treated patients with advanced gastric cancer were prescribed every 3 weeks intravenous cisplatin (20 mg/m2/day) and a continuous infusion of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) (750 mg/m2/day) for 5 days. Twelve (71%) patients had been treated previously with other anticancer drugs. Seven (42%) patients showed a partial response and these responses persisted for over 4.

An autopsy case of hemolytic uremic syndrome after treatment with antineoplastic agents for advanced gastric carcinoma is reported. A 70 year-old woman underwent partial gastrectomy for gastric carcinoma on April 16, 1987 (P0H0S2N4, Stage IV). She was treated with Mitomycin C (MMC), UFT, OK-432 and PSK as post operative chemotherapy.
