Background: The prognosis of patients with recurrent and/or metastatic oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) remains poor, and its incidence is especially high in developing countries. Multiple long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are recently identified as crucial oncogenic factors or tumor suppressors. This study aimed to probe into the role of lncRNA small nucleolar RNA host gene 17 (SNHG17) on the progression of OSCC.

Background: Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common complication in patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) that severely affects the patients' quality of life. However, the effectiveness of oral phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors in these patients is poor. Sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) and S1P receptor 2 (S1PR2) are important factors regulating the Rho-kinase pathway, and understanding these factors may provide ideas for new therapeutic strategies for ED.

Objective: To explore the feasibility of RhCcEe blood group antigen mixed visual field identification in patients with regular blood transfusion, to follow up and evaluate the efficacy of matched transfusion and its clinical significance.
Methods: RhCcEe genotyping for 142 patients with regular transfusion in our hospital was carried out by PCR-SSP method. According to the results of genotyping, 48 patients voluntarily selected the continuous transfusion of RhCcEe matched red blood cells, 46 patients received random blood transfusion (RhCcEe mismatched transfusion), 42 patients received partial RhCcEe matched transfusion (unable to provide fully matched RhCcEe donors each time), and 6 patients' blood transfusion data were lost.

Background: Thyrotoxicosis is often caused by destructive thyroiditis (DT) or Graves' disease (GD), and a prompt and accurate differential diagnosis for thyrotoxicosis is needed as management strategy differs. A meta-analysis of published literature was performed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy for differentiating GD from DT patients by the measurement of mean peak systolic velocity of superior thyroid artery (STA-PSV) using ultrasonography.
Methods: The databases of Embase, Pubmed, Cochrane, Web of Science, Wanfang, and CNKI were retrieved without time limit to identify eligible studies.

Cyanophycin is an attractive biopolymer with chemical and material properties that are suitable for industrial applications in the fields of food, medicine, cosmetics, nutrition, and agriculture. For efficient production of cyanophycin, considerable efforts have been exerted to characterize cyanophycin synthetases (CphAs) and optimize fermentations and downstream processes. In this paper, we review the characteristics of diverse CphAs from cyanobacteria and non-cyanobacteria.

Background And Objective: Increasing interest has developed in the therapeutic potential of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and IBD-induced cancer. However, whether MSCs have the ability to suppress or promote tumor development remains controversial. The stromal cell-derived factor 1 (SDF-1)/C-X-C chemokine receptor type 4 (CXCR4) axis is well known to play a critical role in the homing of MSCs.

Objectives: To explore the effects of acupoint application therapy (AAT) with TianGui Powder (TGP) on the expressions of the transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1) and Smad-2/3 signaling pathway in ovariectomized osteoporosis rats.
Methods: Sixty rats were randomly divided into four groups: normal group (group A), model group (group B), TGP group (group C), and Western medicine group (group D). Group A had only the corresponding amount of adipose tissue around the ovary removed; rats in the other groups had bilateral ovariectomies.
