Carpal Dimensions by Plain Wrist Radiography in Patients with Severe Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.

In this study, we evaluated the diagnostic value of carpal dimensions in wrist plain radiography for the screening of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). This is a case-control diagnostic probe in which patients with severe CTS documented by electrodiagnostic study and healthy subjects as controls were enrolled. In the posteroanterior view of the wrist plain radiography in both groups, we defined and measured the carpal ratio, and the results were analyzed deploying statistical software.

Radiography finding in the jaws in children taking bisphosphonate.

Background: Bisphosphonates‎ inhibit osteoclasts, prevent bone resorption and decrease bone turnover. This study examined radiography finding in bisphosphonate-associated osteonecrosis of jaws.

Materials And Methods: This is a retrospective series of 12 clinically diagnosed patients between 7 to 21 year old (average 13 years).

Comparing the efficacy of ceftazidime and meropenem in treatment of febrile neutropenia in pediatric patients with cancer.

Background: In cancer patients, various infections were developed due to severe neutropenia resulted from chemotherapy. Ceftazidime is commonly used as monotherapy of cancer patients with fever and neutropenia. Meropenem is a new carbapenem with more extended antibacterial spectrum including anaerobes.

Diagnostic value of ultrasonography in the diagnosis of nasal fractures.

Introduction: This study examined the diagnostic value of ultrasound and radiography compared with clinical examinations as the gold standard method to determine whether ultrasound can be used for early diagnosis of nasal fracture.

Methods: This prospective study was conducted on 128 patients with clinical signs of nasal fracture. Radiography in all patients was performed by 2 different radiologists on Waters and lateral view with a 10-MHz ultrasound probe, and clinical examinations were done by an ENT specialist.

A trichobezoar is a ball of swallowed hair that collects in the stomach and fails to pass through the intestines. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy is usually useful for diagnosis and retrieval of a portion of the gastric Trichobezoars but can have complications. Upper airway obstruction may occur during removal of bezoar.
