Background: Systemic lupus erythematosus is a multi-organ autoimmune disorder that is treated by immunosuppressive agents that weaken the immune defense against opportunistic pathogens and latent infections such as strongyloidiasis. Herein, we report the case of a 43-year-old woman known to have systemic lupus erythematosus who presented with gastrointestinal symptoms, edema, and bone pain 2 months after receiving immunosuppressive treatment.
Case Presentation: A 43-year-old Iranian female known to have systemic lupus erythematosus and antiphospholipid syndrome presented with abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and generalized edema.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic autoimmune disease primarily impacting women of childbearing age. While pregnancy and hormonal stress can trigger SLE flare-ups, the effects of assisted reproductive therapies (ARTs) on SLE patients are not well defined. We conducted a search of PubMed/Medline, Embase, and CENTRAL until March 20, 2024, to find observational studies assessing the prevalence of SLE flares and pregnancy outcomes following ARTs.

Background: Lysophosphatidic acid receptor 1 (LPAR1) has been identified as a biomarker in various cancer types. However, its biological function in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) remains unknown.
Methods: LPAR1 was identified as a key regulator of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in PTC cells through bioinformatics analysis of TCGA and GEO datasets.

Background: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is an atherosclerotic disease of an inflammatory nature. Previous studies examining the relationship between triglycerides and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol have highlighted the importance of plasma atherogenic index (AIP) as an important predictor of coronary heart disease. However, due to the lack of adequate information on this topic, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between AIP and coronary heart disease risk.

Background: Data on the epidemiology of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in the Middle East are scarce. We aimed to describe the clinical phenotype, disease course, and medication usage of IBD cases from Iran in the Middle East.
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study of registered IBD patients in the Iranian Registry of Crohn's and Colitis (IRCC) from 2017 until 2022.

The human monkeypox virus (Mpox) is classified as a member of the Poxviridae family and belongs to the Orthopoxvirus genus. Mpox possesses double-stranded DNA, and there are two known genetic clades: those originating in West Africa and the Congo Basin, commonly known as Central African clades. Mpox may be treated with either the vaccinia vaccination or the therapeutics.

Background: Healthcare workers (HCWs) have a higher risk of contracting coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) compared to the general population due to their frontline role and direct contact with the infected patients. Accordingly, they were among the first groups to receive vaccination against COVID-19. A higher risk of COVID-19 infection may also exist among hospital staff members other than HCWs.

Recently, the presence of different nanoparticles (NPs) has developed targeting drug delivery in treatment of cancer cell. Targeted drug delivery systems using NPs have shown great promise in improving the efficacy of intracellular uptake as well as local concentration of therapeutics with minimizing side effects. The current study planned to synthesized resveratrol-loaded magnetic niosomes nanoparticles (RSV-MNIONPs) and evaluate their cytotoxicity activity in pancreatic cancer cells.

Background: Mucormycosis and aspergillosis are angioinvasive infections mainly occurring in immunocompromised patients. However, mixed infection with mucormycosis and aspergillosis in post-COVID-19 patients is rare. In this report, we will report four cases and comprehensively review the published literature on COVID-19 associated mixed infection of aspergillosis and mucormycosis.

Nowadays, lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer-related deaths in both men and women globally. Despite the development of extremely efficient targeted agents, lung cancer progression and drug resistance remain serious clinical issues. Increasing knowledge of the molecular mechanisms underlying progression and drug resistance will enable the development of novel therapeutic methods.

Inconsistent data suggest that flaxseed supplementation may have a role in sex hormones. We aimed to carry out a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) investigating effects of flaxseed supplementation on sex hormone profile. PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Cochrane Library, Web of Science databases, and Google Scholar were searched up to March 2023.

Background: Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV)-induced disease is one of the important causes of flu-like illness in older adults and can cause serious disease in those who are at high-risk medical conditions. During coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, because of overlapping symptoms of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-COV-2) infection with other respiratory infections, diagnosing diseases based on clinical and radiological findings was challenging and could cause misdiagnosis.
Case Presentation: An 87-year-old Persian man was admitted to the hospital due to loss of consciousness, respiratory distress, tachypnea, and oliguria.

Chemotherapy with Adriamycin, Bleomycin, Vinblastine, and Dacarbazine (ABVD regimen) cannot cure all patients with Hodgkin lymphoma. In this study, we evaluated the efficacy and adverse effect of a new regimen consist Irinotecan, Cisplatin, and Dexamethasone (ICD) in relapsed and refractory Hodgkin lymphoma as the second to fifth line of treatment. We performed a retrospective study in 26 relapsed or refractory patients with Hodgkin lymphoma receiving at least the first-line chemotherapy regimen (ABVD) and (ICD) as salvage therapy in Thaleghany Hospital from 2012 to 2018.

Background: Accumulating evidences suggest that date palm pollen (DPP) induces antioxidant activity and improves semen parameters in male rats. However, there is a few scientific evidences in support of the DPP effects on human male fertility. Hence, the effect of oral consumption of DPP on sperm parameters and expression pattern of and genes was evaluated in men with infertility.

N6-methyladenosine (mA) modification is the most abundant post-transcriptional regulation of RNAs in eukaryotes. Dysregulation of mA readers, writers, and erasers can significantly promote tumorigenesis by altering the expression of various genes. Wnt/β-catenin is an evolutionarily conserved signaling pathway that has recently been linked to the pathogenesis of many cancers.

Background: Breast cancer (BC) patients face various physical and psychological challenges. The mutual impacts of patients and caregivers on each other show the need for further supportive care from the community and family. This study aimed to identify the predictors of the direct and indirect relationships of the duration of cancer (CANCERT) and care time (CARET) with the supportive care needs (SCN) of the patients and the quality of life (QOL) of their family caregivers.
